Elias's examples are characteristically framed in broad terms and yet vividly depicted in precise detail...The idea of an evolving nature governed by its own rules is in turn enhanced by the cognitive and practical mastery over time and space, diminishing the fantasy-content of myth while advancing the reality-congruence of scientific knowledge."" --Canadian Journal of Soc ...more

As far as I know he wrote the English version first and only later published the German one. The English edition also has an appendix where he gave a lecture adding some details to his argument and observations on old people.

Kant was wrong, Descartes was just a start and not courageous enough, and Einstein might have been correct but in an another synthesis level which had brought little practical value (we know today that he is correct). However, all of them is a step of the ladder.

For techniques, separation of natural and social sciences may help in details but they must be more integrated if we want to see the forest, in addition to trees.

Main problem of the society is to define the problem. One way or another, w
