This is a spectacularly detailed survey of political life during Persia's most chaotic period of history. How much fodder and food did the Mongol horde need per day, and what was left in its wake? What powers, if any, did the Muslim jurists have in supposedly holding their warlords accountable to any sort of morality? What roles did women play in the rounds of politics at it's most predatory?

این کتاب نگاهی دقیق و محققانه به تاریخ میانی ایران دارد. ظاهرا در فرهنگ غالب ما تاریخ میانه کشور مترادف است با هجوم مغول و تیمور که کشور به یک برهوت تبدیل شده و جنبنده ای به روی این خاک نمانده .ولی در این کتاب ما با یک زندگی در همه ابعادش مواجه هستیم.
این کتاب به دوران سلجوقی هم می پردازد و مطالب مفیدی از آن دارد.
تز دکتری خانم لمبتن درباره دوران سلجوقی بوده است.

اسم خانم لمبتن را شنیده بودم و راستش این جمله کیانوری را که( فاتح رئیس شرکت نفت لمبتون را با خود این ور و ان ور می کشید و لمبتن جاسوس بسیار کارکشته و خبره ای است ) یادم هست

الان که دوباره این کتاب را مرور می کردم و می خواستم در گودریدز قرار دهم سرکی کشیدم در گوگل و چند لینک خوب همیدا کردم که آدرسش را می گذارم ولی چه اعجوبه ای بود این میس لمبتن

الغرض کتاب بسیار خوبی هست
و چند مورد جالب به شرح زیر

* مورد بعدی سلجوقیان هست نمی دانم چرا سلجوقیان از تمدن ما غائب هستند گاهی وقت ها کانال های ترکیه مستندهائی از تمدن سلجوقیان نشان می دهند که نشانگر عمق و غنای آن تمدن می باشد و من از خودم سئوال می کنم که آثار سلجوقی در کشور ما کجا ها هستند . این کتاب به دوران سلجوقی هم می پردازد و مطالب مفیدی از ان دارد. الان تو یکی از لینک ها خواندم که تز دکتری لمبتن هم در مورد دوران سلجوقی هست

Dry as dust, but a treasure trove of information on medieval Persian society as it transitioned through the Saljuq and Mongol periods (11th-14th centuries). Between Lambton's extensive glossary and Google, it is comprehensible to someone relatively unfamiliar with the time and place. I am not aware of anything comparable in English.
