I Liked it but I am sad to say did not Love it I personally found it a bit too involved & quite hard going if I am honest.
good plot line however & some very good scenes however just too much for me.

The Royal Descendant follows the idea of Elizabeth I having an illegitimate child and thus providing an heir to the English throne. History books tell us that Elizabeth died without a true heir and the throne went to Scotland. Throughout history many royals had illegitimate children and more than one pretender has been backed by powerful supporters.

John Ford uses this idea and weaves a complex tale around the secret baby. Taking 13 years to complete, this book is full of very detailed research

I received this book as part of Good Reads First Reads

I read this book being a lover of historical fiction

It is based on the story of Elizabeth I having had a child to carry on as ruler of England and the story of what would have happened whilst history books tell you that Elizabeth was The Virgin Queen

Having read it through from cover to cover I would some of it to be hard work and although I liked the book it is not one I would read again in a great hurry but rather a book I will put in my boo

An excellent fast paced genealogical mystery tracing back and forward on a lineage which puts the Queen at risk. The story goes back four hundred years and involves murder and mayhem. The business of tracing is interesting and at times complicated but will be enjoyed by anyone who is interested in tracing family lineage but also to those who enjoy an exciting historic "who done it" or perhaps I should say "Who is it".
