Rate this book
Perhaps no other American president is as revered as Abraham Lincoln, whose strong faith and moral courage inspired a nation, and whose timeless words of common sense continue to influence men and women today.
In Abraham Lincoln's Daily Treasure, readers will find daily devotional selections in a variety of subject themes. Each devotion includes Scripture, a devotional thought, a spiritual or inspirational quote from Lincoln or a related fact about his life, and take-away for personal application. This unique devotional is built around the Believer's Daily Treasure, a book Lincoln was given in 1847 upon the death of his son and that he carried with him always. Lincoln often quoted from the Believer's Daily Treasure in his addresses to the nation and included snippets from it in his letters. He also read from it for personal strength during the Civil War.
Readers who are wanting an interesting devotional, Christians looking for wisdom distilled through the lens of history, Lincoln aficionados, and history buffs will all appreciate this unique look into the life of Lincoln that is ideal for personal use or for gift-giving.

I wasn't quite sure how this would read bringing that it was a completion by another person than Lincoln himself. I was fascinated by how much Abraham Lincoln immersed himself in the Scriptures which I believe was instrumental in the way he made the decisions before him that not only affected him but the whole country. And that is why the country was able to heal itself on a very diverse subject

I believe the voice behind this devotional Thomas Freiling bothered me some. It was his insights after the scant quotings of President Lincoln that troubled me. So I would have to say most of his writing I did not like. His two cents is added after each one of Lincoln's quotes. I found him to be quite repetitive and I'm not really sure how to explain but strangely contradictory. I had originally thought this book would incorporate more of Lincoln's views than it actually did; so that was a let down. I think Lincoln's insights got lost somewhere in the writing.

This is a devotional - one page for each day of the year. Although I have not read through the entire book, I would recommend it to anyone who has in interest in Lincoln. It gives insight into the role his faith played in his life.

This is a wonderful book filled with Lincoln's insights into the Bible. It is based on a devotional that Lincoln read and often referred to. I loved this book. It is fun and filled with interesting facts.

Awesome book. Interesting religious insights into Lincolns life. It has a few contradictions of other things I've read, but still a good perspective. Lots of really good quotes.
