Je Gurley puts together a fun and fast paced thriller in the vein of a two part mini-series. Its the type of story where reading it, you might keep thinking to yourself, "What would I do if I was in that situation?" Its that kind of thing that keeps you turning the pages. I would like to say that not every novel is like that, but every now and then you'll find one that fits the title. This book has a little of Jaws in it as well as maybe s few other things that might seem similar. I like that the author pays homage to those ideas. There are a lot of books I have read recently that would make really good movies if done right. This could be one of those books.
By no means is it perfect, there aren't many that are, But if you enjoy it then its been worthwhile. As a book that was print of demand, and being of a larger format size for a paperback, there are a few little errors that could have been taken care of. Editing could have been tighter. But overlooking that, it was a pretty good and enjoyable read.
And after all, how can any monster fan pass up a book about creatures from the deep?
This was my third Gurley book. The first two I read were decent, and I gave 4 stars. They'd had some editing issues. From the depths has a couple too, maybe 5 errors total, which I can easily provide to the author. In the previous books, I deducted a star for the errors. Not this time. This book was so well written and the characters so well fleshed out that I felt it would have been an injustice to deduct a star.
Well done, Mr. Gurley...very well done.
I hope there is a sequel to this book, because I want more from these characters!
I really enjoyed this book, I didn't want to put it down. This book will give you nightmares going out on the huge ocean. Huge creatures of all types pop out of the water and create havoc.
This grabbed me from the first paragraph. Couldn't put it down. It was scary, exciting and really good. It was told really well. Except for the nude scene I would recommend this to everyone. Ruby
Really enjoyed the story line and the depth of the characters. A little more attention to detail on the interchangeability of the weapons ammo could be better for realism though.
