This is simply a fabulous fun book to read. I have just read it today in one sitting! I'm not sure if it's meant to be aimed at a YA audience but if so it just proves what I've always suspected, which is that at 60 years of age I am still young at heart!
The story is full of fantasy and suspense with a cliff-hanger ending that makes me desperate to read the next book!
I enjoyed all the central characters and for a debut novel I think the author has done a brilliant job. Would make a great film!

I would like to thank the author for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.  Doing so does not sway my review in any way.
When I first read the synopsis of this book, I have to admit I got some déjà vu from other books that I’ve read.  As I started reading it though, I noticed a distinct difference.  Where others felt it was necessary to glam up the supernatural beings, the surroundings, the other dimension, etc, the author chose just the opposite.

The One Discovered is a well-written book full of mystery, suspense, action, and a dash of romance for good measure. What I especially liked about the book was that, even though it had some of the typical YA genre elements, the story itself was one I hadn't read yet. Very refreshing! It's a bit of fantasy mixed in with a bit of the TV show Fringe.

When it came to the story itself, enough was revealed to leave me wanting... no,

I am so conflicted by this book. On the one hand I really really like it. I think that the concept is interesting and that the story has a unique take. This is a world that I really want to delve into and explore for a while. On the other hand there were many aspects of the book that I found disappointing but part of me thinks that is perhaps because this is the ground work for the beginning of a series. Let me try to explain…. I think that there are so many interesting characters throughout thi ...more

I LOOVVEEDD this book! WOW!

I thought about this novel even when I wasn't reading it! I always wanted more. It is definitely a page turner. I guarantee that you'll always want to know what happens next.

The storyline is wonderful. It is a great and original idea. I have to say... Angel and Ar'ch are my new favorite characters of alllll time! (Well they're pretty high up there.)They are amazing characters. They cons

I great story that I hope will lead me into a new and exciting fantasy world that will consume my thoughts for hours after reading.

The central character is of course Sofia, a teenager girl brought into a story that will change her life for as long as she can make the right decisions. Sofia is a pretty ordinary girl like us becoming completely submerged in her books as every leading lady should in my opinion until a boy she dreams

This story has everything; hot guy, cute girl, smothering moms, people who are from another dimension yet are suppose to be here on Earth to heal and support humans, tid bit of jealousy, the One-who can save the people of another dimension.
Sofia's destiny lies in saving Ar'ch world, their people. So, Ar'ch and his brother come to retrieve her from Earth as the prophecy says.
Ar'ch and Sofia have an instant electrifying connection but Sofia has a boyfriend and Ar'ch is sort of a playboy. And, th

Although this book is classified as young adult fiction, the writing style is very mature, the characters are well developed, and the plot is complex enough to appeal to people of all ages. The main protagonist Sofia is an extremely likeable character and the Diasodz half-brothers Ar’ch and Angel really bring this story to life. These two boys are very kind, good looking and sexy (although Ar'ch can also be very conceited at times) and you want to find out a lot more about Ar’ch and Angel and th ...more

I love all things supernatural and sci-fi. I especially enjoy it when history is slightly rewritten or changed to make a new world come alive. I very much enjoyed this world with Diasodz. I found it a little hard to get into right away. I think that had a lot to do with getting use to the point-of-view changing for one character to the next from one paragraph to the next. Once I got past that style, I was hooked.

First off, the book cover Rocks. The green eyelashes really make the eye POP.

This is a typical YA plot where a young girl discovers that her whole life has been a lie, and there’s more to her world than she knows. Just before her 18th birthday, Sofia is approached by step-brothers Angel and Ar’ch who claim she is The One: the savior for their world and also her own. She is strongly attracted to Ar’ch, the dark, mysterious sexy stranger, which causes her to question her true feelings for her long

The synopsis of this book immediately reeled me in. The diasodz species and the fantasy world that Yvette created sounded so interesting and I was really keen to find out more. The synopsis gives you just enough background to make you want more!!

The story is surrounded with so much mystery and there are still many unanswered questions by the time you reach the end (which is a cliffhanger in itself!). I know that some people can find that irri

Wow, this book. Never have I had a book give me so many mixed emotions. When I first started reading this I was like what is going on? Who's talking, who's thoughts are these, so as you can probably tell the POV change was hard to get around ( I think there is four POV changes in all, but After you get used to the characters voices and get a handle on who's talking boy does this book get going. I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

I personally love ya fiction and anything sci-fi/fantasy related and to have both in one book is always a thrill for me. In that aspect this book did not disappoint. In did feel the novel was a little slow in the beginning and at first it was hard for me to really like the main characters (Sofia and Rafe anyway), they just felt a little two dimensional. However, the further into the book I got the more involved I felt in the characters. Ha

I couldn't put this book down! It was amazing. It keeps you guessing until the very end and makes you wonder about each character. I love the slow reveals and the room for character growth. It also gives you a couple story lines to follow and she never gives you too much information. I definitely enjoyed how even after the first book, I am dying to have questions answered and cannot wait to read the next one! I also have to say that I like how the author made Sofia into a regular 17 year old gir ...more

I had the honor of being a beta reader on this book and really love how it turned out. Yvette is smart and funny in her writing style and she provides a book that not only was fun to read but also enthralling. You will not want to put it down! I look forward to reading the next book!

I really feel that this book is easily right up there with many I've read and enjoyed in the past by famous authors. I highly recommend! Good luck Yvette!

This is not a genre I typically am attracted to, but this story captured my interest and held it. A very plausible plot, strong characters, and well written. Found no editorial errors! The main character is a young 17year old whose life will be turned upside-down as she learns that she is to leave human life on Earth and begin a new life in a different dimension where she is to be the heroine. Beautifully written.

I was so glad I took a chance on this book. At first I thought, what is a Diasodz and is this going to be corny?
This book was captivating and had me enslaved for an entire day until I finished it. I abandoned all household
chores. The characters are intriguing and the story is refreshing. I can't wait for book two to come out.

Author Yvette M. Calleiro provides the first of the Chronicles of the Diasodz with The One Discovered. The story focuses on Sofia, a young girl, soon to be a woman, at 17. Sofia is at the age where love seen in her dreams suddenly becomes her reality when the young man appears in school.

Ar'ch (pronounced R-rick) overwhelms her by sharing how special she is, a savior of a parallel universe. Angel, Ar'ch's brother, also attends Sofia's school. Sofia's boyfriend Rafe, is in the dark about the youn

I love the way fantasy can move in so many different directions. It can be classic epic fantasy, urban fantasy, and even have a bit of the paranormal in it. Such is the case with The One Discovered (Chronicles of Diasodz #1) by Yvette M Calleiro. Here is my review.

Synopsis (from the author):

I have to admit that I rarely read fantasy books but since the author is a fellow author and member of my book club I decided to give it a go.

The One Discovered by Yvette Calleiro is a tale of love, jealousy, magic, good vs. evil, and the quest of two "otherworld" brothers to bring home the prophecized savior of their race. All the attention is on Sophia, a 17-year old senior in high school, a seemingly normal teenager who thinks she loves Rafe, the boy she's known since birth. They always hang

The One Discovered is book one of a series. Sofia seems like any other normal girl until one night she meets a young man in her dreams. No big deal as we all have dreams about the opposite sex, but then she meets the same exact young man while she is working. This young man, Ar’ch (pronounced R-rick) tells her that she is special and is destined to save his world in a parallel universe. Ar’ch also has a brother, Angel, who attends school with Sofia. The two-out-of-this-world guys, Sofia, and her ...more

The plot is well paced throughout the pages. The story begins with a typical teenager, Sofia. After reading a love story, she fancies a heart-throbbing romance despite having a steady boyfriend, Rafe. As she falls asleep, an irresistible character, Ar'ch, appears in her dream, as a response to her secret wish. Ar'ch not only flatters her in that dream, and with not so subtle of seductive manners in her subsequent dreams, but he also manifests in her real life. At this point, the story glides int ...more

I don’t read a lot of young-adult-fantasy novels, but this one came highly recommended, and the book cover enticed me. This is the first book in the Chronicles Of The Diasodz series.

Sofia is a seventeen-year-old girl in her last year of high school. Up until this point, she’s lived an ordinary life as the daughter of Liana, a single mom and girlfriend to lifelong friend Rafe. One night, she has an extraordinary dream in which she meets a handsome boy named Ar’ch. Her life takes a bizarre turn wh

This is book one of the Diasodz series and I will most definitely be reading the books that follow this one. Sofia is a normal teenage girl, just about to graduate from high school and getting ready for college. She has a boyfriend who has been her best friend from the time she can remember. Both grew up without fathers and their mothers are the best of friends. But all that changes when a sexy man enters her dreams. And it doesn't stop there. Ar'ch (pronounced Arrick) shows up in physical form ...more

You got it, this is the first of a series. Confession time, though! I rarely read genres detailing . . . paranormal, fantasy, Sci-fiction, or suspenseful thrillers. Of course, I won’t hold that against my rating; simply, ‘cause it’s not my genre. All-in-all, I’m a huge supporter when it comes to authors. My favorite reads (when it comes to literary creations) are non-fiction and self-help ones.

There are a lot of great reviews attached to this book (as you’ll discover). Its feedback gives deep i

The One Discovered by Yvette M. Calleiro is a magnificent combination of fantasy and mystery that keeps you delighted page after page, as the story shrouds many layers of suspense. It is an easy read with just a few friendly characters who are trying to explore life and stumble upon some cryptic and implausible facts. Since this is the first book in the series, Yvette has laid a brilliant foundation for taking the story further. Sofia’s willow tree is my favorite too, the magnetic energy that dr ...more
