Sixteen-year-old Caitlyn Foster never believed in the legend of the Redeemers. That was before the trees started to whisper her name. Before a murder of crows attacked the town. Before she and her family came home to find a bloody handprint on their front door, marking one of them as a sacrifice. As Caitlyn’s friends are ripped from their homes, she knows it’s only a matte ...more

Mind your manners and do what’s right,
This will keep you safe at night.
But if you give yourself to sin,
You will let the Redeemers in.
If God’s path is not your goal,
Then the Redeemers will take your soul

The creepy atmosphere of this book is unbelievable! Is there a creepier word than creepy??

Cait just moved back to her old town with her dad, her stepmother that she doesn't like at all, an ex that still hurting and with people that believes to the group called The Redeemers.

I don't spook easily-- not at all. Fingers in the Mist created an eerie atmosphere that pervaded the entire story. The town, the legend, the characters-- everything was downright creepy. Mr. Hutchison has a way with invoking the imagination in the reader drawing them into this spooky tale while building the suspense to a fever pitch. This story will make readers jump at little noises, and if you scare easily, do not read it at

As I'm sure many of us have, I started following O'Dell at his wonderful blog, Book Twirps, a long time ago. It was one of my absolute favorite blogs to visit! I loved reading his reviews, and seeing his thoughts on the books I was interested in. It was, and still is, one of the best blogs I have ever been to. When I saw that he had written a book, I jumped at the chance to read it. It is called The Weeping; it was a wonderfully spooky book! When I heard he was writing a new story, and that he w ...more

I honestly have no idea where to start with this book. It was not at all what I expected, but I think it was unexpected in a good way. I was looking forward to a YA novel with a little bit of a paranormal touch, but what I got was something much more than that. It was super weird and creepy and pretty crazy, but still something that I found myself not wan

Sound pretty creepy, uh? Well, you have no idea how creepy this story is! Eerily creepy. Horrifyingly creepy. And gosh dang it, LOVED it!

As penance for their sins, marked households must sacrifice one member of their family to the Redeemers. Seven unlucky souls, including sixteen-year old C

Wow! What a page turning, heart thumping, keep the lights on no-matter-what story! I was not expecting this when I read the synopsis. I thought it was going to be just your average paranormal YA story but this is on the same lines as my favorite horror writer, Bentley Little. At first I had visions of M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village" but it quickly spanned out to be so much more. The book starts out with the knowledge that things are just not right. The main character, Caitlyn, is heading to h ...more

A super eerie tale of a town living complacently under the blanket of invisible fear.

Caitlyn has a distinct voice, real and tangible. Her past mistakes are upfront from the opening of the story. Her strong will is a nice touch and it bounces nicely off her judgmental stepmother. Her risk-taking quality adds tension and suspense throughout the tale. I'm sure young people will either relate to her verve or secretly wish they had a bit of it for themselves. As far as the opening of the story, what

Hutchison does a fine job crafting a creepy tale that will leave many readers sleeping with a light on, or at least reading with an extra one on. The writing is intelligently written with no glaring mistakes to distract the reader. A few moments during my read I felt a hint of familiarity but each time Hutchison took a fresh path making this feel unique. The characters are well fleshed and layered adding to the enjoyment of the read. The plot is well planned and threaded with enough extras blend ...more

Why is everything a series? This could have been such an awesome stand alone. Yes, thing would have had to be changed, but it has so much potential. Enough potential for me to read the next one? Probably not.

But, I would still recommend picking it up. It was fast paced. Had some interesting folklore. And had a very creepy, bump in the night kinda feel.
