Plucked from society, the Funding Entities had a plan for Andromeda Somers and Adam Waters. The ones who planned the Reformation were priming them for a greater role. One that Adam will never live to realize. He knew too much and now he’s dead, leaving Andie to raise their baby alone. But not all is lost; the Entities want Andie to uphold the principles of the Phoenix District, so they’ve released Ian to her. The only problem is Andie’s not sure what to do with her husband now that she has him, especially since there is a seemingly insurmountable rift in their relationship. They can’t talk, they don’t touch, and it seems Ian is always sneaking off in the middle of the night. He’s definitely not the husband she remembers. But Andie has changed also; she’s done things she’s not proud of, she altered the human genome for Burton Crane, she had an affair, she even killed a man. Now, Andie struggles with her guilt as she tries to raise the next generation of Sovereign and fulfill her duties as the District Matchmaker. Sam is training to become a Volker, Ian keeps pressing her to go back to the way they were, Catalina is getting older, and Raven has never uttered a sound since his birth. As Andie tries to maintain control and protect her family, one thought lingers and threatens to disrupt everything she’s worked so hard to protect: she must return to Crystal River for her last test, and Crane always causes the most havoc when she’s away.

This was a great addition to The Phoenix Project series. Things didn't quite pan out the way I had initially hoped, but the new twists in the story allow a lot more room for further installments to take this series to even more intriguing and compelling places. The scope of the story has even more ground it can cover now, keeping things fresh and interesting.
Fans of the series will love this book, readers unfamiliar with it should consider giving it a try, since it looks like it's only going to keep getting better. Well done!
An amazing continuation of the series....can't wait to start book #4 later today. I feel this series would make a great movie...any producers out there should pick this series up and produce the movie!!!
AMAZING! Love the twists and turns, never a dull or predictable moment, edge of your seat page turner!! can't wait to read more! How does M.R. Pritchard do it?!?
This was my favorite book of the series so far and aspects of previous books that bothered me were not present. Many things I'd wondered why no one ever said to Andie were said. I enjoyed the unpredictable twists and turns and also the moments of humor.
Spoiler -- do not read further if you haven't read the book. I love the way things work out in these books and, usually, it makes some sort of twisted sense. However.... I know the whole point of Crane kidnapping the kids was to draw Andie out and everyone knew it. However, why in the world wouldn't the Handford (sp?) district send a helicopter, or at least a helicopter with back up, instead of sending Andie and Ian out into the elements without enough fuel? Why weren't Ian and Andie given fuel cans to take along in case they couldn't make it on the double tank? I know Andie would have gone irregardless, but given Andie is seen as irreplacable, it seemed strange no one offered to go in as back up, they just agreed to watch the satellites. I suppose it could have been orchestrated so there was no real risk, it only felt like there was and the other district leaders knew this... another "test"... Also, it wouldn't have been as fun to read if Andie sat at home waiting. Well, that just was bothering me as I read it so I thought I'd share! Only having one thing nag at you about a book like this means it is a great book in my opinion.

absolutely loved these books kept me turning the page and staying up late just to finish one more chapter. turned into chapter after chapter as it often does with a well written book.
I had a hard time reading the third book. I kept expecting Adam to come back from the grave. I still think he might. The book has so many twists and turns you never know what to expect. I am constantly thinking what will happen next. A great series.
