Sometimes all you need is someone to hold you up.

Harper Elliott knows what it feels like to drown. To be unable to breath, to feel the crushing weight of your lungs collapsing while waves crash over your head and the surface is just out of reach. The ocean has stolen way too much from her and her family. Even though she lives just miles from the beach she rarely ever steps

Thank you Amber Garza for an NA that doesn't focus on sex! These days there are so many NA books that focus on sex & forget about the story. This book is exactly what I am looking for in an NA: there is romance, action, emotion, & general craziness. Harper & Tag's relationship was so great to read & I absolutely love them, they make each other better people. There were definitely some things I wasn't expecting. Overall I fell in love with this book & I kind of want to steal T ...more

Only her best friend on her birthday could convince her to come to the beach, but going near the water is out of the question. Too bad some jerk didn't get the memo and scooped Harper up and dropped her in the ocean. She didn't know it was only two feet of water, but being in it period freaked her out and thankfully lifeguard Tag was there to get her out.

He didn't know what is was about the gorgeous girl in that hot bathing suit, but something about her struck out to him and when her lost bracel

I loved Tag and his flirtatious manner, "oh, I'll give you want you want." I nip her bottom lip with my teeth and she giggles." Harper she's a real hands on girl, "I trace the tattoo on his upper chest and then let my hands linger over his taut chest muscles and hard abs. The muscles flex beneath my palm as his fingers weave through my hair. When his lips disconnect from mine, he drops his forehead to mine." I mean the girl knows how to take hold of a situation, "you really are," she teases. The ...more

Amber Garza has done a great job creating two hurting characters, Harper and Tag. Both have had horrible events happen in their lives. Then one fateful day, they meet each other. Something clicks and they knew that they had to see each other again. A wonderful book of love, forgiveness and repairing deep seeded hurt. Ms. Garza has touched on several different emotions while writing this novel. I look forward to reading future works from this author.

Amber Garza's knack for creating characters is amazing. Especially the way she writes such depth of character and caring in her male leads. Head Above Water is no exception.

The book is clean, with little to no language and suitable for 16+ due to some of the abusive situations, but none of it is graphic or gratuitous.

Very well written, contemporary romance.

God I really enjoyed this book it's sweet and sincere it's a quiet love story that absorbs you it's rare in a book that I like both of the main characters but something about Harper and tag just absorbed me it's not raunchy or flashy and I loved it for that reason it's innocent and in this day and age that is beautiful

Wow, this was such a refreshing and sweet but suspenseful romance. I was kept guessing and on the edge of my seat the entire time. I normally read a more sensual or sexy type story and everybody knows that but I can say I wasn't  disappointed in this sweet romantic mystery.

Twins at 6 yrs of age Heather and Harper are doing what kids to. They are teasing each other. At the beach, do

Harper was afraid of the beach, the ocean, or any other body of water. She knew what it felt like to drown, experienced it, lost someone to the waves, and there is no way she is going back there. So despite the fact that she lives near the ocean – she rarely go to the beach, and if she does, she doesn’t step foot on the water.

Thank you Melissa.

This is Tag and Harper's story.

Unable to breath, darkness closing in, vision cloudy, this is the feeling that Harper has around the ocean. She can't be around in without the fear of being six again and on the verge of drowning. This is why Harper flat out refuses to visit the beach besides growing up around it. When s

Harper Elliot is afraid of water. After a terrible accident when she was younger, now she can’t be anywhere near the ocean, or the beach without anxiety, so she basically tries to steer clear of it. That is, until she has to go to her best friend’s birthday bash on the beach. When she gets thrown into the water by another party goer and suddenly has a panic attack. It brings back all the memories of drowning when she was little.

Head Above Water

I loved this story. It’s a sweet romance about two troubled souls, both mourning the passing of someone they loved, both dealing with it in different, yet similar ways. Amber Garza has a way of pulling you in right from the start with her books and Head Above Water is no exception.

It was Harper’s story that drew me in immediately, showing her fear and depression right from the beginning, but it was the mystery behind Tag that kept me going and wanting to know more about him. Amb

This was such a great read for me. I did not want to put the book down once I started it!!

A horrible event that took place when Harper was 6 years old leaves her terrified of anything related to swimming. When her best friend Kate manages to get her to the beach for her birthday party an event takes place that leads lifeguard Tag to the rescue. Sparks fly instantly for both Harper and Tag. I loved seeing their relationship grow, Tag was so sweet and def one of my new book boyfriends!! My heart b

This book was a good read. The storyline had a great flow to it. The characters were written in details including their pasts.
We learned that Harper is afraid of the water due to a tragic event during her childhood. She meets Tag, carefree water boy.
How can this ever work out? One loves the water and one fears it.
Harper has to learn to put some faith into Tag. She has to trust him.
This book has plent of emotions. Plenty of love and romance. It's the perfect little love story.

Good Read

I'm giving this book three stars not because I didn't like it, but because it just didn't suck me into the story immediately. Things seem to happen too fast and too simply. Good book overall but not the best I've read by this author either.
