Rate this book
This is the LDS Edition of THE COVENANT which was featured on Glenn Beck radio and TV and which soared to #3 on Amazon. It is part 1 of a two part series called the American Covenant Series Volume I & Volume II. Vol 1 covers the sacred history of the discovery of the new world through the Revolutionary War. Vol II picks up from there and walks the reader through the miraculous period of the Constitutional Convention through he Civil War and the Conversion of Lincoln to The American Covenant. Ballard's ten years of research on this masterpiece will forever change the way you view this nation.

Description
Have you ever wondered why your heart is so touched when you hear the playing of our national anthem? Or when you read the inspiring words of our founding fathers? Are those feelings not remarkably similar to the feelings you have when singing a sacred hymn or hearing a profound sermon? Are we just overly sentimental and emotional creatures or is there something more going on? Consider the feelings that permeate your soul whether you are reading the inspired words of Captain Moroni...or General George Washington? Yes, you know this is a "choice land" given by God, but have you ever considered that perhaps there is a deeper connection--even deeper than you ever imagined--between Heaven and America?

This book promises to open your eyes to this deeper connection. You will learn how and why ancient prophets-from Jacob (Israel), Jeremiah and Isaiah-foresaw the United States and knew of its divine ordination. Besides the advent of the Messiah, there were few things that almost all ancient prophets saw. America was one of them! More astonishing, perhaps, is the idea that the fathers of the nation-from the Pilgrims to the revolutionaries, to the patriots of the Civil War-knew they had been seen!

Why else did the early settlers insist they were the "New Israel"? Why was George Washington's scripture of choice an Old Testament prophecy about the gospel destiny of America? Why did John Adams seek a Restoration, and why did Jefferson directly prophecy that such would occur shortly after his death and that it would rest upon the foundation of the Constitution?

These are but samples of the many puzzle pieces that, when properly assembled, reveal the true nature and purpose of America. Other evidences include symbolic images on our dollar bill, miracles in war, a prophet's warning, a president's prayer, scriptures with cryptic meaning hiding in plain sight-pieces, clues, words and symbols that actually fit perfectly together. Upon finishing this book, you will ask, How did I not see all this before?

The key to assembling the pieces, to solving the puzzle, is found in remarkable and divine establishment of "The American Covenant."

Amazing research. It is a long read but every few pages you find another detail to keep you going strong. The way our nation has turned away from the God who created it is a national tragedy.

There are two versions of this book. This one is one my dad read, and is a more general overview, basically for non-LDS readers. He wrote a more specific 2 volume set for LDS readers, linking his historical perspective the LDS perspective. I read the first volume of the 2 volume set, and in talking with my dad, realized that the book I read contained all of the same information, plus more. So, here's my two cents. If you are wanting a general read of how God works within the founding of our nation, then read this book. If you are LDS, or are curious to know more, then read his other version of this book. "The American Covenant: One Nation Under God, Volume 1, and Volume 2. Either way, you will learn incredible miracles that makes this nation undeniably a nation of God. I LOVED this book. Now, I need to get Volume 2 which covers after the Founding Fathers and beyond.

The American Covenant is real. I am so grateful for the information this book provided. With all of the evidences presented before us, it is impossible to think that it is imaginary. If you are not able to see the evidence, then open your eyes and see that the American Covenant is real. We live in a world that would have us believe our country was not founded on Christian principles. If we are to think that our country was not founded on Christian principles, then we are truly wrong. The Founding Fathers were righteous men that believed in God, and with God's guidance, they were able to create America. These days, people think that they did not follow the American Covenant or anything of that kind. Those accusations are wrong. There is so much evidence that it seems impossible to ignore. They prayed several times a day. They repented as much as they could. They read the Bible as much as time allowed. George Washington would have his army repent of any sins they had committed before a battle, so that they would have God protect them, as the American Covenant promises. These Evidences show that the Founding Fathers were aware of the American Covenant. These evidences show that the American Covenant is true.

“There are no coincidences.”

This book is so deeply profound in its connecting God’s hand in the founding of America that it is staggering. Told from the perspective of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints author, this book ties scriptural evidence, prophetic revelation, and the personal testimonies of our founding fathers into a whole new light, which is the American Covenant in The United States of America. From Washington’s unlikely nomination to lead, to the many miracles that occurred during the Revolutionary War, to the Masonic Temple rituals, this book is filled with God’s connection in the making of “New Israel” and the restoration of His great gospel. Stunning!

a very thorough and enjoyable read about God's dealings with the people of the Americas from antiquity to modernity. I'm sure that some days presented are dubious, but taking everything as a whole it helps understand America better, and continue to improve what we have.

it is also inspiring reading about our God given rights and how we should extend them to all.

If you've read the Washington hypothesis, you got a more condensed version of this book. while I enjoyed the Washington hypothesis more, this is still a great read worth your time

Worth reading again.

Great book. So much more information about our nation's history than what we read in public school history books! So many references to solidify evidence of the author's points. It would be worth reading again.

An Inspiration.

This book showed me historical references of God's hand in establishing this country and the men He worked with to bring to pass his purposes.

So I've personally studied the covenant of the promised land a lot just on my own in the scriptures so the first two chapters weren't necessarily eye opening although I appreciated the extra quotes backing up what I had always thought. Then I got to the history, which I have also studied a lot, and was blown away by all the symbolism to be gleaned. It just kept getting better and better as the book went on. I'm so glad I read this. I will definitely be rereading it again.

Dear author: Please consider refraining from using the term "free agency." Please also note we are a republic. Thank you kindly.

There is a lot of very interesting material in the book, but it is a tedious read. I think it would have benefited from some heavy editing.
