I received a pre-release electronic version of this book in exchange for an honest review.....

The Bad lie is a sweet down to earth story of a good kid that ends up lying in a really big way. This is the kind of lie that ends up spiraling out of control. But this is also a story about friendship and second chances. In the end this story is about growing up and how the choices we make can end up affecting the people you care about. Well, I'm not the author, but I liked this too...

Jay finds out that telling a lie to get out of trouble doesn't end well.

This book conveys really well the painful task of being a middle-school boy and the difficult balance of relationships. Being cool and being good are not always the same thing. Jay's relationships with his friends, good and bad, are handled really well, as is his troubled background.
