A few parts charmed me, but the last third felt like formulaic TV show bad guy writing, kind of meh.

The parts I liked: I was intrigued with her knowledge and dreams about organic seed breeding. I loved how she set up an email account at the library and sent pictures of her abused self.

I was charmed with the lipstick scene in the store. She picked up a lipstick. Cade said “Why do you need that? You’re beautiful. You shouldn’t cover your face with that stuff.” His words were so reminiscent of her

I was given this book at a convention a few months ago. It was an enjoyable read, and I finished it in one day. A very easy and quick read and good if you want a sweet story with some light suspense. Cade was a wonderful character; so understanding, sweet and patient. Laura was likable and I felt they fit together nicely. The author definitely set things up for future books by presenting the small town of Evers, Texas that looks out for it's own. I would have liked to know more Laura's personal ...more

Ever Hopeful has to be one of the most touching stories I have ever read. My heart ached for Laura knowing what she went through, and soared when she finally got away. You feel the trepidation she felt on her journey to the unknown and her fear of discovery. Trusting strangers is something that has to be done and the longer Laura is at the ranch, the more it starts to feel like home, but she knows she can't stay....or can she?

Lori Ryan I loved this story and I went to sleep last night trying to finish the book, but I finished it this morning. There was so much going on in this story. Laura is going on the run from an abusive husband when she finds out he has died of an apparent heart attack. He and his partner Alec have been doing some shaddy business and Alec thinks he left some evidence behind. Laura has to go to the hospital to identify the body. She runs into a doctor who has treated her several times from her ab ...more

OH, Wow, YES!

Fans of Kathleen Brooks will be drawn to the characters, love, and suspense in this beautiful novel. Once Laura learns she is pregnant, she knows she must find a way to leave her wealthy and abusive husband, but before she is ready to leave, he dies of a heart attack. Rather than feeling that life will be better now, she realizes that she still needs to get away from his controlling mother before the woman who raised a monster finds a way to steal her grandson away from Laura.

***** I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review*****

This was my introduction to Lori Ryan and I was really impressed. I enjoyed this book. Once I started reading I could not stop before I knew it the book was over. I was sucked into Laura and Cade's world right from the start. I felt like I was living Laura's life with her. Reading her struggles with her husband and then following her through her struggle to find herself and realize that she is stronger than she ever thought was simp

This was one of those easy reads for me. The story addressed some real life topics and ugliness that is in the real world. Laura is a strong female character. She has suffered abuse throughout her life and finally she has enough. She begins to live not only for herself but for her unborn child. And Cade, what's not to love? He an easy going guy who wants to protect her. It's romance, it's fairytale but it was good. Lori Ryan I look forward to the rest in the series!
A well written, woman on the run story. Characters that I liked and a story that was sweet. Very low level of steam (no sex!) but still an enjoyable read. As i was reading this I kept thinking this would have made a great Lifetime movie.

I have several other books by this author on my kindle that I haven't had a chance to read yet but plan to check out soon. (Her other series has a higher heat level).

This was my first book by Lori Ryan and will not be my last. This book had me hooked from the very first pages. I could not put it down. It is packed full of emotions, I was crying and laughing during my time in Ever, Texas. Laura and Cade are both coming off bad relationships, but are both such tender and caring people that deserve so much more in the future. The built up suspense in the book was very power full.I can not wait to read the next book in the Ever Texas series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book as a part of a book tour in exchange for a fair and honest review. I rated it 4.5 out of 5 Stars.

The first book in Lori Ryan’s new Ever, Texas series, Ever Hopeful is an emotionally charged second chance romance with suspense elements, well developed characters, and the reminder to never lose hope. Taking both the reader and her characters on a journey beginning with a smoothly paced plot, Ms. Ryan takes us from Connecticut to Evers, Texas as pregnant

Nice read : a woman escapes her ex-husband and his dangerous surroundings and finds refuge in a Texas ranch. The characters love animals a lot (but eat other animals anyway !), the fragile woman turns into a more affirmative one, the love story is nice.

Laura has been abused by her "perfect" husband for three years, the details of that abuse come out little by little and are not as graphic as they could be. They are still hard to read about, though. When Laura married Patrick Kensington she knew she was one of the luckiest women ever. Patrick is one of America's royalty and has a great political career ahead of him. Finding Love at her Darkest Hours..

This story started out sad, with Laura having to deal with the monster of a husband she had. Laura was abused left to right and sometimes she couldn't even leave her house, because of the bruises her husband left from her beating. He was awful. The book starts with her finally planning to leave him, but having a husband who was powerful with a powerful family backing him..wasn't easy. Everything she did had to be planned carefully, so her husband could never fi

The sweetest, most heart warming story I've read all year!

Laura Kensington had plans to leave her abusive husband after finding out that she was pregnant. She had contacted a man in regards to obtaining a new identity and had been stashing away money for her departure. She planned on leaving the following week, when her husband would be away on business but a knock on the door by two police officers chances her plans. Her abusive husband of three years was dead.

In book 1 of this series, we meet Cade and Laura. This was such a heart wrenching, passionate, sweet, sad, suspenseful, and touching story of a broken girl and a man who has the touch to heal (people and animals)!

Laura is on the run, pregnant and scared. Her abusive husband has died and she knows his family wants her. When she is at the hospital, a doctor who knew about the abuse because he had previously treated her helps her escape and finds a "safe" place for her to land until she is strong e

REVIEW – Ever Hopeful by Lori Ryan

Wow ~ absolutely wonderful! Ever Hopeful is an incredibly well written story about a broken woman who has hidden her private agony and anguish and must resolve the painful issues and replace her vulnerability with strength in order to explore a life where she can learn to trust again.

Lori has tackled the sensitive issues at the core of the story with warmth and depth while making the reader feel the pain and fear that Laura is experiencing, but still allowing th

Laura has been biding her time until she can leave her abusive husband. When the police come to tell her of his untimely death, she thinks that she may finally be free. Her husband's mother, however, has other plans and thinks that Laura should not even raise her child. So, in desperation, she runs away with the help of a kindly ER doctor.

4.8 Star Review – Ever Hopeful

I recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book by Lori. This book includes pain, fear, passion, laughs, compassion, small town loyalty, heartache, and betrayal.

Lori sucks you in from the very first page. You can feel the fear coming off the pages as you were reading Laura's story. She is broken but does not want to pull anyone into her painful hellish life. She fears the backlash if she stays in one place for long. She must keep running.

WOW - what a great book! There are a lot of books out that focus on spousal abuse, but this story has such a unique escape plan and road to healing. Loved and was rooting for Laura right from the start. Her strength just shines through on so many occasions. Even when her body and spirit were broken, she didn't just whine about it, she took positive steps to move forward. The symbolism between her and the "broken" animals was just so masterfully presented. And OMG Cade - what a Keeper! The plot t ...more
