An easy-to-understand and easy-to-implement method for creating new ideas and new products This book blows the lid off the so-called "idea gurus" by demystifying the creation of great new innovations. It offers readers a way to look at their company's existing products and services in order to transform them into new ideas. Well-known and respected authors Steve Rivkin and Fraser Seitel take readers into the Idea-Scape, a place where innovation is born from existing ideas transformed and manipulated in inventive ways to produce new products and business solutions. Examples of methods outlined include: What can you combine with an existing idea? What can you adapt? How can you put a product to other uses? What can you eliminate? . . . and much more.

(Ideawise: How to Transform Your Ideas Into Tomorrow's Innovations) Differentiate or Die, The Power of Simplicity, The New Positioning и Repositioning.
Of the many business books related to the development of creativity or innovative activity, I would highlight only two books - this book and Philip Kotler's book "Lateral Marketing: New Techniques for Finding Breakthrough Ideas". I find all the other books on creativity in business or innovation in business to be very boring, of little practical use, and overly vague. Moreover, the topic related to innovation or creativity is itself very unspecific and blurred. In the sense that it belongs to the world of great mystery, because at all times people have wondered how this or that great man created a great work of art or formulated a theory, discovered some natural law, or created a new product (for example, the iPod). Reflecting on such topics, as well as writing books, is always profitable because the topic itself does not imply finding a 100% solution.
And yet, personally, I highlight these two books on the subject, i.e., business innovation, which I recommend to all marketers and/or those who work in business. Both of these books have in common the fact that they were written by fairly famous authors. Philip Kotler and Steve Rivkin were famous for other books, but even these books were quite interesting and useful from a practical point of view.
In Rivkin's book, "Ideawise: How to Transform Your Ideas Into Tomorrow's Innovations", we find the same style that is well remembered by readers from such books by this author as "Differentiate or Die", "The Power of Simplicity", "The New Positioning", and "Repositioning". In the professional world of marketers, all these books are well known because they were written, in addition to Rivkin himself, in co-authorship with the famous marketer Jack Trout. So all those readers who, like me, have read all of Jack Trout's books will find this one somewhat similar to the above-mentioned books by Jack Trout and Steve Rivkin. It's still the same familiar easy-going narrative style, clear syllable, and clear structure that all combine to make the book extremely readable. Plus, with Philip Kotler's book, the reader will get perhaps the most complete picture of innovation in business, or rather, how to innovate in business.
Admittedly, the book was written and published quite a long time ago, and so the examples the authors give may seem outdated. Perhaps. But the main thing in the book is still not examples but ideas for creating innovation in the enterprise (firm). And this certainly could not become obsolete. After all, the authors offer the famous techniques that are mentioned in every textbook on marketing. Perhaps because of this, someone will think that the book does not deserve such high praise, but I would like to emphasize that it is extremely rare that books appear in business literature that would offer something revolutionary new, i.e. completely new ideas. Most often old ideas are presented, but in a new way, or just a well-written book that is pleasant and interesting to read. That is exactly what this book is. Yes, many people already know (or should know) what the authors are writing about. But! This little book is devoted entirely to one issue, the question of creating innovation, which means that there is no need to read thick books on marketing or business, but just pick up this little book. Everything that other authors write about is presented in this book in a short, succinct, and understandable way. Moreover, the book is arranged so that the reader can easily find the method of creating innovation that interests him most.
The way the author introduced and explained his ideas. Organized them and went into details. Dedicated a chapter for each one and added real examples was amazing. The only thing was using many slang words. I always read in English and never had difficulties or the need to translate. But in this one I had too.
