SYNOPSIS
Ace Blackstone is an extraordinary man with a passion for finding the secrets of others, the hidden and long forgotten. He is a professional private investigator who has a reputation of among the best in his field despite his loner lifestyle. Adopted by an eccentric mother and laid-back father, he grows up struggling to find out exactly who he is and why he is the person he has become.

His world completely changes once a tall Texan walks into his Chicago office and hands him a case that forces him to examine his mind, heart, and spirit in ways he never dreamed possible. Then the unthinkable happens -- he falls in love with his case subject, an intelligent and beautiful archeologist with deep, dark secrets of her own. Brooklyn Greene may appear sweet and demure on the outside, but she is waging a war within herself that creates havoc in her life in unimaginable ways.

Once the two meet, their lives become entangled in a web of lies, deceit, but above all else, an all-consuming passion and love. Ace refuses to let her go and will do anything to protect her from the life she left behind.

He soon discovers nothing in this life comes easily, and there is always a price to pay. Facing his inner demons, he takes on a new challenge, one that changes his life forever. Can he hold onto the love he has found, and still discover the truth about himself? It’s all in a day’s work for a P.I. on the search for his own heart…

One of the best IR story written in my opinion!!

Ms Tiana Laveen I first want to say thank you for being such an accomplished and talented novelist. Your books are always robust, well written and hardy. That is to say you are one of best authors of this IR genre. You do not write short stories loaded with lots of misspellings, billionaire idiotic storylines with cliche one dimensional characters which most of the time ends with the dreaded cliffhanger without warning.

What can I say about this story is that I loved how you wrote Ace Blackstone as the main character with his POV first. He is a well written and complex character. I loved the scenes with his psychiatrist, Dr Rose, his relationship with his mom and of course with the women of his dreams, Brooklyn. This story had intrigue, heartbreak, touched upon social topics such as dyslexia, adoption and trying to find happiness in sometimes difficult circumstances.

Brooklyn was also very well written. She is articulate, extremely talented and was quick to forgive Ace for his duplicity. I hate how many of these romance stories have the couple breakup for several months or even years to realize that they should be together. The subject was very intense but Brooklyn and Ace weathered the storm, moved past their mistakes, Together!

Ms Laveen has written a wonderful love story that had plenty of steam, deep character development, well written secondary characters, mystery, moments of hilarity, resolution and the unyielding power of love conquers all. Buy this book it is well worth it! This one of my favorites that I will read again. Bravo Ms Laveen keep up your stellar work!!!

AWESOME!

I don't know how I missed out on Ace Blackstone when it was first released but I'm so happy I found him! Ace is complex to the nth degree but so sexy and fascinating.....I love how his mind works! Brooklyn is the perfect match for Ace....sexy, quirky, smart AND a closeted freak :)

The symbolism in this book makes you dig deep into your psyche but that's typical of a Tiana Laveen novel; she makes you THINK! Will definitely go into my "To be read again" shelf on my Kindle. Kudos to the author!

I have finally finished the story of Ace and Brooklyn. Two people who have their own issues to unearth and deal with. Through their journey of love for each other they find themselves as individuals and become stronger as people and as a couple. I loved Ace's honesty about his feelings towards Brooklyn he was not ashamed or embarrassed to fully expose his need for her and to show his own vulnerabilities. The story takes off for me when the couple meet each other. The author takes the time (and she tells you this before the story starts) to build Ace and Brooklyn's characters. A good read! Full length Novel!

I absolutely loved Ace Blackstone and Brooklyn Greene's story. Two people with secrets and issues meeting and falling in love. The author cautioned that romantic scenes came later in the book and it was so appropriate . It gives the readers a chance to be drawn into the lives of these two characters and their complexities. It shows the author's great storytelling skills as well as her sense of humor.

This book was wonderful. The beginning was slow but I'm glad I hung in there because this was a real treat. Once again, Ms. Laveen has written another romantic story with characters you care about.

I love this author but hate this book: the dialogue is amateurish and does not match the characters as described, it horribly slow moving, and just painful to read. I got 40% into it and just stopped reading.

Good story just longer then needed

I found this story entertaining and at times frustrating. Brooklyn and Ace as couple was believable and a true unveiling process for each. I enjoyed their journey as a couple, it was funny , sad , painful and sometimes sincere. I found Ace's pain and turmoil to be more sincere.....real.....and the pain and nightmares to be most honest...it worked within the storyline. What I found hard to swallow is Brooklyn reason for running away. The relationship Brooklyn had with her family prior to witnessing the murder makes it hard for me to be believe that she would run away or be so terrified of her father. The man she loved and adored for the first 17 years of her life . Never speaking to her mother or siblings through those years... I just find it hard to believe ...most times a child love is unconditional, especially when there is no previous issues ex: abuse or neglect

This story was so so so very good. Ace will be one of those male characters that are very hard for me to forget. The journey both Ace and Brooklyn went on was challenging, but also revealing and as I read I could feel their happiness and sadness bleed through as each found each other and discovered the truths that were once lost. My only draw back from this great story would be that the words "damn" or "damned" appeared a little too much. I was like damn, use another word. Lol! But I loved this story and will be reading it again along with more stories from Tiana Laveen.

I really hope there's a sequel!!! I really enjoyed this book, although it did take me awhile to get into it. I loved Ace and Brooklyn's relationship, they seemed to compliment each other. They were what each other needed. Like I said before, I really hope there's a sequel, I want to know how their story ends.

This book started off REALLY slow, and I almost gave up on it. I'm glad I didn't! Loved the characters and the storyline. It was well worth it. So if you're thinking of reading this, know that it will be slow at first, but the end was worth it!
