I just purchased my first metal detector and decided to add this book and I'm so glad I did. I was able to research info about the hobby online but this book wrapped up a lot of overall info in a nice little bundle. I'll be able to use it as a reference guide along the way. I thought there were a few areas where the writer could have gone into a little more detail but overall this was a helpful book.

Exactly as promised!

I just bought a new metal detector and then realized I needed a good guide to explore this new hobby. Given its length, it didn't go into detail on the settings for various machines, but it did cover a wide range of subjects, all of which I found helpful. Once I finish exploring my backyard, I plan to get his book on beach metal detecting. Highly recommended.

Good overview of the hobby

This is a good overview of the rewarding hobby of metal detecting. There were some things mentioned in this book that I never thought of thinking about and valuable tools to purchase that would otherwise have been a case of trial and error to discover.

I haven't bought a medal detector yet, but I wanted to learn more about detecting before I do. This book seems to be a very good overview of everything I'll need to do.
