I received a copy of this book as a first-reads giveaway. I could not wait to read this book and was so excited to get it yesterday. The writing is very powerful and draws you in from the beginning. I immediately fell in love with Scott. I lost my mom unexpectedly about a year ago and could relate all to well to what Scott was going through. All those feelings of loss and regret over what you should've said or would've done differently if you had just known that was the last time you would ever ...more

Beautiful story of a young man's journey to rediscover and reinvent himself after his mother's tragic death. The characters are well developed, believable and very satisfying in their realizations and life choices. Overall, an uplifting tale and a remarkable first novel.

I would like to share a review my dear friend, Lynda DeCicco just sent me through the mail about my novel, That Ever Died So Young. She Wrote:

If only the

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

This is a powerfully well written book.
At first I was hesitant whether to start reading it today or leave it for another day - from reading the summary I thought it would be a sad story (yes, it was sad but not in a gloomy way) and I wasn't sure today was the day - but then I thought "Meeh. Let's give it a chance!" so I started reading and found myself turning pages so fast I didn't realize at the time, until I paid attention to the nu

I really loved this book! I enjoyed the dual point of view and the love story, I appreciated that the romantic part wasn't really the center of the story and thoroughly enjoyed the family dynamics that were displayed.
This novel deals with some difficult issues, not only grief and guilt, but depression, low self-esteem, trauma and alcoholism. And it deals with them beautifully. With what that I just said it would seem this is kind of a depressing book, but it really isn't, it is filled with hope
