Today’s youth have a lot going against them as they trudge onto their school campuses. Sitting in cold, hard desks they’re force-fed facts that quickly zap the joy of discovery right out of them. Next, they’re indoctrinated with progressive ideologies meant to sexualize them and incite hatred for America. The fear of a gunman kicking in their classroom door constantly looms in the back of their mind. This is the loneliest, most anxious, and depressed young generation our world has possibly ever seen. Oh, and on top of all that...they might not really be a boy or a girl.

Home is Where the Truth Is, is unlike any homeschool book I’ve ever read. The author was refreshingly not shy to put all topics out on the table for discussion. Overall, I loved that the author revealed that homeschooling has been an amazing opportunity to bring her kiddos hearts closer to the Lord. I too have seen the fruits of this with my own homeschooled kids. What a blessing! I also loved that you beautifully get to know the author’s personality page after page, & you suddenly feel like you are just having a conversation with a close girlfriend. I definitely recommend Home is Where the Truth Is, if you are considering, or on the fence about homeschooling. Actually, I recommend it to parents who are already homeschooling as well…I learned a great deal of things I did not know about! Wonderful read!
Maeve Jemison’s literary style is captivatingly conversational. Reading becomes listening to a woman who is faithful, loving, smart and unquestionably hilarious. This book is an investigation of truth with a sense of humor. Whatever your state of life, whether single, married, children or no children, this book is a bullseye into uncovering the effectiveness of families educating their children in the real world with a sense of adventure. Titling each chapter of her book after a lie she is unmasking is creatively brilliant. Maeve is the Sherlock Holmes of uncovering the history and myths of education in America. “Home Is Where the Truth Is” is a must-have for every home library. Congratulations Maeve!

I was given this book free for a review and wow I would recommend this to anyone starting or even in the middle of homeschooling! So much wisdom and encouragement to enjoy learning alongside your kids and breaking all the lies surrounding why you can’t do it. Chapter 10 was exactly what I needed in my current homeschool journey, to forget benchmarks and follow my son’s passions so he grows to LOVE learning.
