This is a phonics focused early reader focused on the sounds -ck and -ick. It is about Clifford and his dog friends playing hide and seek. My kids didn’t like that they didn’t show all of the dogs hiding places. But the story is fine for what it is.

Each book in this set includes an introduction from Emily Elizabeth who tells what the story is about and introduces three sets of words: words with the focus sound (luck, pick, etc), sight words (two, etc), and “fun” words (hint ). The “fun” words usually include some that parents or teachers might want to pre teach before the child reads so it’s nice that they are included here. The book includes an illustration and full white page with large text on each set of facing pages. This is nice for children learning to read. It is easy for them to find and follow the text.
