How To Be Team Player and Enjoy It is the result of working with pastors, staff members, and ministries across the country and seeing the problems faced in churches and Christian school ministries. Matt takes principles from God’s word and applies them to our relationships and working with others as leaders. Christian leaders have encouraged Matt to relate these principles in printed form. This book reflects Matt’s heart for people and the Lords work. How To Be Team Player and Enjoy It should be required reading for all Christian leaders and workers.
This book grew on me the further into it I read. At first, it seemed rather simplistic, but as it developed more and more often I found myself saying/writing in the margin, "Boy, that's good" or "this is helpful." The author has a wide latitude of ministry experience. He's obviously rather well organized. It shows in both the layout and the content of the book. Some of his illustrations, naturally, don't apply in my situation but overall I think I found it rather edifying. If you, like me, find yourself struggling to learn how to lead a modest church staff I think you will also find it helpful.
Hard to get started with this book, but once I did I found it to be challenging. It had good admonitions, some familiar and some new. The content was valid, but some of the practical methods were dated.
By far....this is the absolutely best book that addresses being a tremendous staff member especially at a church! It shows the duty of every member is to serve! Novel idea! This book is one in a million! It did more than just stimulate....It changed! We read it together as a church staff and discussed all the benefits that each of us saw!
