This was the most epic ending for our beloved Tarot Kings! The flirting, banter, tension, v!ol3nce and t0rtu40us moments were peak Kuivalainen magic! The giddy smile, sorc3ry and sp!(e was immaculate. Inl mever want to leave this word- Ames- you can't possibly make me. Cheers to thebother billion cards in a deck!! 5☆
Absolutely amazing. Amy has really outdone herself. I loved Zaraya and Arkon. Their unhinged personalities, their magnetic chemistry, all of it.
🪄 Forced Proximity 🪄 Magic 🪄 Enemies to Lovers 🪄 Lots of banter 🪄 Fun storyline 🪄 Spicy
Honestly this is one of those book series that’s so enjoyable and easy to binge. It’s such a craft to be able to write such good books within 200 pages.
I am obsessed with this world and hope we see more!
4,5/5 🤩 After book 3 I was a bit disappointed, but that final book definitely did it for me. I loved Akron and Zarya. That’s my favorite book in the whole series. Maybe it could have been longer, I finished it so fast.
I hope we’ll have a novella about Ashirah and Karsudan 👀
3.6 Stars Disclaimer: Please remember that these are my opinions and if you feel differently, that’s okay. Thanks!
Notes: POV = Third person, focus alternating between Zarya and Arkon Overall: A strong return to form. This book finally balances world-building, plot, and romance with characters who actually make sense and act like they have lived lives outside their love interest. The chemistry between Zarya and Arkon is the best of the series so far, and the political and magical stakes actually feel real this time. While the world still suffers from too many confusing names and some underused side characters, this was a satisfying, well-paced installment that delivered where the last two fell short.
Main Characters: Zarya (FMC) is powerful, focused, and emotionally complex without ever being a martyr or a mess. Her grudge against the emperor is grounded in real trauma and her divine magic lineage adds weight to her role in the story. Arkon (MMC) is intelligent, calculated, and emotionally grounded. His obsession with Zarya over the years adds believable tension and nuance to his choices. They’re a rare fantasy couple who actually feel like equals. Their actions match their internal thoughts. Their decisions make sense. And they balance magic, strategy, and emotion with real effort.
Side Characters: Ezra and Zahir had a better relationship moment in one scene here than they did in their whole book. Still too many characters with similar names, which occasionally made it hard to follow side plots.
Plot/Story: The political unrest, magical warfare, and personal vendettas were all working in sync. Zarya’s motivations are crystal clear. She has suffered loss and oppression and is actively fighting for change. The pacing is sharp and forward-moving, with every chapter pushing the story and the romance along. For once, the romance didn’t feel like it was interrupting the plot - it felt like a natural part of it.The magical mechanics made sense and the Norse mythology influence enriched the setting.
Romance: The best in the series so far. Zarya and Arkon are not instantly in love but are obviously drawn to each other, and the tension is tangible. Their chemistry is layered. They’ve known each other for years, claimed to hate each other, and everyone around them has seen the real tension long before they admit it. They acknowledge the influence of fate and magic, but do not rely on it. Their connection builds through action, loyalty, and mutual growth. Love is not fully formed by the end, but it’s believable and worth rooting for.
General: The dialogue is better. Internal thoughts feel human. The characters feel like they have depth beyond being in love or in danger.
This was an epic conclusion to this series, but I honeslty hope we get so much more of this world because I am utterly spellbound! This world has everything, so many different types of magic, shifters, mages, and an epic war! I loved that it incorporated our world - especially in as magival city as Venice, but in a fantastical way! In a world where technology has failed, magic reigns supreme, there is wonderful feats and all out war... this series has followed along the development of society into its best (and worst). I find that I feel like the characters are so wonderful - I love them so much and almost feel like they're my friends too - this is a testement to Amy's writing and how amazing the characters are!
Arkon and Zarya are as unhinged as each other, undeniably drawn to each other, they are the perfect match. I absolutely ADORE them and I freaking loved following their long awaited story!! We get hints all through the series of how Zarya taunts Arkon and how OBSESSED he is in stopping her - its so obvious these two with cause so many SPARKS and FIREWORKS when they meet!! You honestly don't know what they'll do next, and their complete disrespect for authority had me cackling! From escape attempts, to all out war, urgh... it was perfection!!
They say to save the best for last, and in my opinion, Amy truly did with this book. I do hope we get more stories from this world, I feel like there is so much more she could tell us about it, but nonetheless King of Coins delivers perfectly what it promises: blood, mayhem and love (and lots of s*x too). Anyways, loved it. Truly recommend this series to anyone who's looking for sexy possessive males, strong female leads and loads of magic.
'King of Coins' is the fourth and last book in a fantasy Venice packed with shifters, sorcerers, and sizzling romance.
I have to say, I was a little disappointed after book 3, but the final book was absolutely amazing! I just loved Akron and Zarya. In fact, this is one of my favourite books in the series, right up there with King of Wands.
The final instalment is all about Arkon, the Grand Sorcerer of Venice, and his enigma: the Wolf Mage. Zarya Verasha, who was once loyal to the Emperor, is now seeking vengeance. She's armed with a list of six names and wants Arkon’s help to take them down and end the war’s ceaseless turmoil. So this is where they met, and the story goes on…
I absolutely adore them, and I loved following their long-awaited story! As the series unfolds, we get glimpses of how Zarya taunts Arkon and how obsessed he is with stopping her. It's so obvious that these two are bound to cause a ruckus when they meet! You'll be on the edge of your seat, waiting to find out what they'll do next. And their complete disregard for authority had me laughing - from escape attempts to all-out war, it was pure entertainment!
What an epic conclusion to this series. Honestly, though, I hope we get to see so much more of this amazing world. There’s so much going on in it – so many different types of magic.
Disappointed in the finale. Scenes were rushed through and the plot overlooked in favor of repetitive conversations and feelings. I realise this is a fast paced series, but there could have been more effort into it. Other than that, Arkon and Wolf Mage were amazing characters, so it's a shame they didn't shine the way they should have.
I loved the ending to the tarot kings so much!! So much murder and mayhem and of course the quintessential Amy K romance with fierce women and intense men who love one another. Plus some hints at future books in the universe! A must read.
This book was SO much fun!!! Amazing conclusion to the series!! The banter between these 2 had me giggling over and over. I'm pretty sure this wonderful quote sums it up nicely: "Jesus, it's like you both have sewed all your red flags together and are just waving them at each other..."
A great ending. Really enjoyable mc’s. Loved their interactions. Was worried that this would not live up to the build up of Arkon and his wolf mage. They were each awesome in the own right and more so together.
This enemies to lovers tale is an absolute treat. It has political intrigue, romance, a masquerade party, shifters, Norse pantheon, and two strong personalities trying to one up each other every chance they get.
The series is one of my very favorites. I love going back to Venice and see what the royals are up to next. This book about the magician and the Wolf mage was outstanding. Better than I had hoped it would be. I am hoping there will be another in this series.
I’ve been waiting for Arkon’s book since he first showed up in the series. The battles, the magic, the banter, the tension; *chefs kiss* f’ing loved it! I wish it were longer
I am so pleased with this set of books. They are all really well written. Have good main characters and laugh out loud moments. Some adult content as well.
I loved every single page of this book. These two are amazing and a sooooo crazy but I love them nonetheless!! I want at least 20 more books with this setting because I love this world too much!
I have been DYING to read Arkon's book since I literally first started this series and it in no way disappointed me. He was as besotted and adorable as I anticipated he would be and I loved it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶🌶/4 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A finale to this enticing series (but hopefully we get more from this world!). We are once again in Venice with none other than the Grand Sorcerer himself. Amy always writes incredible couple dynamics that really showcase how a pair can compliment and match each other, while also challenging each other in interesting ways. The duo in this book take it to another level. Through magic, fate, and a whole lot of sexual tension, these two are both usually isolated from the world due to their gifts. But when they can come together, it’s an incredible adventure to stop a war…. And to find what it means to really find your true match.
