Overall I liked it. My problem was it wasn't the type I was expecting. There is little written of sailing and more of the politics of Hawaii and Tahiti at the beginning of colonialism in those parts. The Captain was typical for that time, still thought most of them as savages. And who doesn't think Hawaiian women are beautiful ? It is a bit depressing knowing these poor people had everything they needed and had no idea how awful the people they thought were friends.
