Graham Cochrane’s Rebel is a thought-provoking guide to stepping away from societal expectations and crafting a life that aligns with your truest self. Drawing on his own experiences, Cochrane outlines a practical five-part REBEL framework designed to help readers break free from autopilot living, identify their dreams, and dismantle limiting beliefs that hold them back. His ultimate goal is to inspire readers to create a fulfilling and value-driven life, rooted in joy, meaning, and authenticity.

The book is well-written, brimming with insightful advice on reframing negativity and adopting a mindset of gratitude and positivity. Cochrane’s writing feels personal and approachable, often offering eye-opening reminders about the power of intentional living, which many readers may find transformative. His use of scripture adds a unique layer to the narrative, blending spiritual wisdom with actionable guidance.

However, this Christian perspective may limit the book’s appeal to a broader audience. While the verses are thoughtfully integrated and enhance the message for those who resonate with them, readers who do not align with Christianity may find this aspect less engaging.

Overall, Rebel is an inspiring and empowering book for those seeking to break away from societal norms and live life on their own terms. Its practical tools and profound mindset shifts make it a valuable read, particularly for those open to its spiritual undertones.

Thank you to NetGalley, Brilliance Audio, and Graham Cochrane for allowing me the opportunity to listen to Rebel. It was a truly enriching experience.

As someone who is building a leadership library for college students, I have read a lot of leadership and personal development books, especially this year. Rebal stands out for me this year as one I think with the most practical applications. The specific activities and journaling prompts make this book simple to follow and I think will be useful to challenge what we think is possible and how we talk to ourselves. I didn't know what to expect from this book - and I was a bit thrown off at first by the number of references to the bible and Christianity, but the author uses religion in a way that is extremely authentic to who he is. He discusses why it's okay to be a Rebel and how to live your dream, being a Rebel is important. I never fully thought about leadership in regards to being a rebel, but after this book, it's all I can think about. Thinking about my favorite stories and leaders I look up to, I realize that all of them qualify as rebels. Cochrane does a great job and I cannot wait to add this book to my leadership library.

Realize that you can be a Rebel!

I don’t do reviews often, but this book is worth doing one! In my life, I’ve always fit into the mold others expected of me (people-pleaser much?). But I realized that I had suppressed my own dreams just to be what everyone else expected of me.

This book not only challenged me to dream again, but then gave me to the tools to do something with it. So many books can help you see yourself differently, but don’t actually guide you to do anything with it.

THIS BOOK IS DIFFERENT!

Graham challenged not only my thinking (and doubts), but also guided me on how to then take my dreams and make them a reality. If you think you might have the slightest inkling that you aren’t being who you feel like you were destined to be (or if you are a believer, who God created you to be), then check out this book, dream again, and make life different for you.

Favorite Quote: “In order to create amazing results in our lives, we must both get clear on the outcomes we desire while at the same time holding those outcome loosely and focusing more on the process that will create those outcomes.”

What this book is: Safe ways to rebel (e.g., believe in god because nobody does that anymore, take more vacations to the South of France).

What I did like about it is that it's very practical oriented and a good starter guide for someone who hasn't heard of any of these regular personal development plans. However, reading the book's title, I really wanted it to be more and a bit groundbreaking. There are no big ideas in this book, unfortunately. I liked some of the advice in this book- don't roadblock your own dreams, and not the others - you are in charge of your destiny (you really aren't a lot of the times).

eta: Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an audio ARC.

This book captures a critical thinking pathway for living a full and meaning full life in all areas of life. It is a personal freedom message, to be the best and authentic YOU, you can be all based on God's word. Transformational absolutely, and not a tedious/complicated process.

It produces a paradigm shift releasing us to soar to new heights; spiritually, mentally, physically, professionally and financially. Even if you are already on a great path, this reading will give you a few key and substantive take aways that will accelerate your personal growth. Gotta be a "REBEL"

Great first impression of Graham Cochrane! I had never heard of him but was intrigued by the title and description...and what a treat this book was! Graham is encouraging and inspiring. In a world where everyone tends to follow the standard norms, its refreshing to have someone calling us out and challenging us to find who we really are and chase after what we are called to be and achieve our true purpose. I will be sharing and recommending this one for sure.

I received an advanced audio version of this book in exchange for my honest review...thank you Matt Holt!

Interested in setting goals, reaching dreams, and determining your purpose then this might be the book for you. A few real eye opening exercises to help you along the way.

"...here's the secret: At the end of the day, finding yourself isn't really about you at all. Ultimately, it's about the people you will impact. Your joy becomes their joy, your confidence becomes their confidence, and your peace becomes their peace. You have so much to give the world, but it starts with discovering who you truly are in the first place."

This is a great guide for those of us who know life doesn’t need to be this way. With Rebel, Cochrane provides a framework for discovering yourself and living life on your terms, not society’s. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking you’d rather be a little more free of the shackles of society, read this book. Also, it is a quick read, but take your time with the exercises in it!

The author challenges the readers to look at their childhood/youth dreams of who they would be and what they would do, then compare these dreams to their current reality. After this reflection, he offers guidance to help us define our dreams and take steps to achieve them.
He encourages the readers to find God's purpose for their lives and to align their beliefs and actions with His purpose.

An easy read. Basic reading and understanding of the 5 letters that represent the word REBEL itself. At the end you'll be given a set of questions to reflect and work through from each chapter. The message is easy to grasp. A nice bonus is the 30-day challenge provided.

A little more than I expected! Very common sense and yet I wouldn’t have thought have his techniques myself. I enjoyed. A quick read if you’re not interrupted, and with quick actions that can be immediately put into place.
