4 Sexy Dex...I Wanna Ride You Stars!!

Danica Blue, GM for the Las Vegas Slayers, is all about playing by the rules. She takes her career seriously, especially since her divorce. Danica always has her priorities in order; her actions are all about pleasing her parents. Of course it just takes firing one sexy quarterback to have Danica questioning her "good girl" ways. Maybe........it's time for Danica to bring out some "bad girl" tricks

Dex Harper, Slayers ex-quarterback, doesn't know what he's going to do with his life now that his reputation has been tainted by rumors of his involvement in a scandal. Football has always been Dex's life since he chose to leave his family and go after his own dream instead of staying in the family business. Now, Dex will need the help of the sexy GM, Danica, to save his reputation so he can go back to playing football. What Dex doesn't plan on is falling for the girl that could save him.

Danica and Dex have off the charts chemistry together and the sexual tension between these two was panty melting or should I say wetting.......cuz I had to change them a few times. When these two finally do give in to their urges.....WOW!!

Of course there are some behind the scenes forces trying to keep these two apart and I was pretty surprised when I found out who was trying to stir up trouble. I'm not going to tell you how it end, you'll just have to read to find out.

This was a fast easy read for me and I loved the feelings reading this story brought me. I'm a sucker for sports romances, who isn't when a hot jock is involved!! Ms. Perry definitely delivered a great one. Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

Thanks to the awesome bitches I read this with!! I always have fun reading with you gals!!

Dex
Known has the Blue-Eyed Badass, a trouble causing football player cut from his team for suspicion of taking bribes for throwing games. Out to convince the world that he was wrongly accused and get his team back.

Danica
Her family owns the NFL team that cut Dex, she is the GM who gave him the axe. She is the family's good girl, always out to please her parents and never goes against their words. Slightly obsessed with wedding cake...

"You rescued my cake! I could kiss you."

Danica recently went thought a divorce and is still trying to regain her trust in people. She agrees to help Dex clean his name and image so another team will pick him up. Unable to resist their feelings for each other the two fall in love. Only to be ripped apart by Danica's controlling parents.

Her parents, Tem and Marshall are jackasses!! They are always meddling in her life and trying to control her. I would of had to tell them off and disowned them, they pulled some really low shit. Danica deserves a high-five for finally standing up what she wants = Love.

Overall all this is a really cute love story. Once you get over wanting to bitch slap her parents, the romance between Dex and Danica is hot. I would recommend this book to everyone. It is my first book by this author and I will be reading more of her books.

"Go ahead. Make the rules, Danica. But I've got a habit of breaking rules. Just remember that."

This was a BR with my lovelies! As usual, always fun!

This was my first time reading this author and I enjoyed the book. It was a quick, fun read. The chemistry and sexual tension between Dancia Blue, GM of her family owned Las Vegas Slayers Football team, and Dex Harper, hot, pro ex-quarterback (Danica fired him) of the Slayers was evident.

I really loved Dex's no messin' around straight to the point dialogue...that boy's vocab was a panty changer. Some faves:

"Drop the facades. When you're with me, I want you naked."

"Danica, I miss you in ways a good girl like you might not to want to hear."

"Miss me, Danica. Imagine every explicit, dirty move I can make on your body, and know that I can take it further."

 photo Dex_zpsf65d771e.jpg

Danica came across as cold, straight-laced and always in control to those that did not know her but underneath it all, she was a likable, vulnerable woman recovering from a divorce where her trust in men was shattered. The friendship and then relationship that grows between her and Dex was sweet and believable.

 photo Danica_zpsfc19c339.jpg

Through this all, there is a back story of corruption and lies around the family owned team with Danica's parents at the forefront. All I can say is those people are something else and at times, I just wanted to...

Even though this was book 2 of a series, this can be read as a standalone.

Note: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

My first read for the author Lisa Marie Perry, i should say i loved her witty writing, it was a fast-read for me , and admired the simplicity in every chapter.

Danica Blue
GM manager for of the Las Vegas Slayers, she is a successful woman, an ideal daughter. Who takes her parents rules into priority. not until she decide to help the Las Vegas Slayers Quarterback to get back his reputation.

Dex Harper, He is in love with the woman who'd taken away his career...yes!
I loved him for the first time i read about him!, he is every Woman's dream. he is a Sweet , Lovable men, and caring yet he buried it deep down.

Dex and Danica , have a really strong Chemistry between them , everybody around them tried to break that chemistry. they think they know what is best for her. but all that lead to make the connection even stronger. nothing beats the love!

i was really looking forward for the Action between these too , lets be honest here ..who doesn't?? ..though i have waited a lot to read the action but when it happened i was like..

description

nevertheless , i was an enjoyable read , and quite frankly i learned one or two things about sport. so thanks for that! plus it was more enjoyable with my BR Sexy Chicas. xoxo

This is a wonderfully written contemporary romance which I enjoyed very much. Lisa Marie Perry has a very modern, hip, sexy writing style and I will be looking out for more of her work.

Midnight Play is set in the fast moving ever changing world of American sport. Danica, the heroine is a strong, independent football team manager who is dealing with a major life changing experience all the while trying to keep the team going while an investigation into player bribery and illegal activities are plaguing her beloved team. In the middle of the investigation is Dex Harper strong, sexy as sin and a huge heart which he keeps very guarded.

Danica is a young woman who always sticks to the rules. I enjoyed reading about how she begins to allow herself to indulge, just a little. The sexual tension kept me engaged in the story and had me on the edge of my seat waiting for Dex and Danica to finally come together.

Danica’s family own the Slayers football team and she’s always done what her parents and society expect of her. But her life is about to take another dramatic and very unexpected turn...

Another fun addition for the Blue Dynasty Series by Lisa Marie Perry. Talk about some steamy times between a tough General Manager of the Las Vegas Slayers and the previous Quarterback, who was mixed up in a team scandal from the previous owners. Just wait until you see how Dex spends his birthday...Whew!! Hot!!

I liked Dex for the hero of MIDNIGHT PLAY, he was so much more than the package wrapping, and Danica thought he was just as everyone else did, until she got to see what was hidden beneath, and what she saw...she liked...A lot!! I think same goes for Dex, when it came to Danica. On the outside she was a bit of an Ice Queen, had to be tough to deal with the Team Players...and her crazy mother! But, she was just as insecure, if not more so, after the disaster of a marriage.

I really enjoyed MIDNIGHT PLAY! Perry has a way of making the characters feel real, almost as if I was watching one of my favorite shows! I love the Blue sisters and I can't wait to see what happens with party girl, Martha!!

This is my first Lisa Marie Perry book and I have to say that I liked it. It wasn't perfect or even the most captivating book that I've read, but it was enjoyable in that it captured my interest quite easily and kept it throughout. That said, there seemed to be a little something that was missing. I kept feeling like there should have been a bit more to the story, as if that missing "something" would have made it more solid and even more likable in my opinion. I can't quite put a finger on what it was, but let's get to the book as it was written...

Midnight Play is the second book in the The Blue Dynasty series. The series is about an affluent African-American family that owns the football team the Las Vegas Slayers. Danica, the heroine of Midnight Play is the middle daughter and the Slayers' general manager. She is the perfect and favorite child who is smart, business savvy, proper, and plays by the rules. She's recently divorced from her high school sweetheart and is now devoted to being the best at what she does and being the type of daughter that her parents can be proud of. Recently, Danica fired quarterback Dex Harper from the team. Dex has a bad reputation and is surrounded by scandal that involves the team. This scandal, he claims, was a setup and he wants back on the team. When Danica offers to help improve his reputation, each learns that there is more to the other than they realized. Suddenly Danica's life as the perfect daughter and GM just might not be enough.

The character of Danica was interesting to me and I felt she had a lot of depth. Some people need their parents approval, even as adults. This can be because of deep admiration or fear of being a disappointment. Some may not like this aspect of Danica's character because they may not understand how an adult woman could crave approval from her parents so badly. To me it made her character more real and her perfect less perfect (if that makes sense). The fact is, for all of their wealth this family is dysfunctional. I don't need characters to be perfect in the books that I read. No one in life is. I just need to see them grow and this story allows the reader to see Danica's growth. Her character worked for me. Dex had less of an impact, but he was likable and served his purpose in the story. We really don't get to see his infamous bad boy ways and I would have liked to have seen a bit of the behavior that earned him the bad reputation. The story about his sister could have been stronger and was one of the weaker aspects of the book in my opinion.

The romance in the book was a good one. It wasn't an angsty drawn out romance. I liked that they didn't deny the attraction between them. I was afraid that Danica would do just that, but she owned her attraction from the first yet wasn't planning to act on it (and that decision had nothing to do with race!). There wasn't any confusion about how or why these two got together since they saw in each other what others couldn't see. There was also a lot about family and relationships, particularly Danica's. Her sisters were wonderful and I'm looking forward to reading their stories, even though this works as a stand-alone.

As I said, this was overall a very enjoyable book for me, and a great way to spend a relaxing evening. To give this book 3 stars would be a severe injustice in my opinion, but it didn't quite hit the four star mark for me either. I'm giving Midnight Play a 3.5 out of 5. It is definitely a book that I'd recommend to a friend and I have a genuine interest in reading the others in the Blue Dynasty series.

When Midnight Play begins Dex Harper, quarterback for the Las Vegas Slayers, has recently been let go from the team and is keen to be back on it. When he meets with Danica Blue, general manager, to discuss his future, tempers flare. There’s also a lot of internal dialogue about how attractive they find each other, naturally. Although they know each other before hand it’s a meet-cute type of situation: Danica drops her purse and sex gifts from a bridal shower fall out, and when Dex hands them back to her, the heat is ON. I’m not a big fan of erections popping up every time the heroine is in the near vicinity or nipples pebbling any time the hero but looks the heroine’s way. I understand that this is par for the course in romance, but it’s really wearing on me. Within minutes of talking to each other, Dex’s pants are too tight because he’s thinking of palming Danica’s breasts. And he actually does this one of the next times they meet, before they even kiss. No me gusta.

To be fair, Dex also sees past Danica’s “perfect façade”, gathering from her body language a vulnerable, klutz of a woman that fascinates and attracts him. Characters in books are always so much more intuitive than usual, seeing emotions “flash” in people’s eyes and practically reading their minds but Dex has a background in psychology, showing that he is also more than Danica assumes him to be. The more they spend times together, the more that is revealed about them both. I liked this, but I still thought that the connection was too shallow, I wanted deeper.

I also loved that Danica has such strong female friendships, but honestly, I didn’t really connect with any of the relationships in this book. Conversations didn’t flow well; reactions didn’t ring true. Like here, when Danica is at the bridal shower of her best friend Veda:

Kensie had hooked up her tablet to the sound system. Bouncing off the walls was a familiar disco song about a destructive relationship. Embarrassment hit Danica like a blow to the gut. It shocked her, that the song’s lyrics could affect her and that a friend could find humor in her failed marriage. The sheepish expression on Kensie’s face told Danica that she’d pegged her right. It was a joke, and Danica was the butt of it.

I felt like I was missing some essential information. There are so many songs about destructive relationships, how did that particular one manage to hit the nail on the head? If it had been mentioned that Danica hated the song beforehand, then sure, I could see how that would annoy her. I could also see why she would hate disco in general. It was an odd set-up that could only work in theory. And there are many other moments in the book that made me go, “Huh?”

While I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary to read the first book, I did feel a bit lost when the story paused and focused on Danica’s family, like her sister Martha, and especially her sister Charlotte and her boyfriend who were obviously the couple from the first book. Her ex and his motivations completely confused me. I could’ve done without his POV.

I just couldn’t get into the story. The writing is polished but not compelling enough.

2.5 stars rounded to 3.

So good! When you think of people being bullied, you usually envision small children, not a 30 something NFL Quarterback or his 30 year old General Manager. Well Dex has lost his job over the shady antics of some of his Las Vegas Slayers teammates. And poor Danica is at the mercy of the tyrannical owners of the team which also happen to be her snooty parents. They treat her worse than the hired help! It is fascinating how Dex and Danica try to maneuver their relationship and still hold on to their jobs. Another big problem- Dex is tired of being Danica's "dirty little secret!" Nicely Done!

"Midnight Play" by Lisa Marie Perry...

"Love evens the score

As general manager of the Las Vegas Slayers, Danica Blue goes toe-to-toe with players whose size is matched only by their egos. Quarterback Dex Harper is the biggest and toughest of them all, with a hell-raiser reputation that he insists he doesn't deserve. And Danica, the good daughter who's always played by the rules, is suddenly tempted to break every last one.

Football is the only thing Dex has ever been able to count on. To save his career he needs Danica's PR savvy, and he's happy to help her discover her inner bad girl in return. But glimpsing the real woman behind that sexy, flawless facade is making him realize how much is at stake. Because getting back on the team could mean losing Danica, unless he's willing to risk it all—and play for keeps."

What I enjoyed about "Midnight Play" was all of it. The story starts out with the general manager of the Las Vegas Slayers, Danica Blue having to fired the quarterback Dex Harper who seemed to be a quite a real 'hell-raiser, but later finds that there is something that leads her to want to help him with his football career. This is where this author shows her magic by letting it happen and in doing so ...well I don't want to spoil it so ...this is where I say you must pick up "Midnight Play" to see how this will all come out. I loved how this author brings it out that it wasn't just Dex that needed help because as you read you will soon discover that Danica needed some help too with her personal life. What high stakes will there be for Danica and Dex having to face will really be something to read about especially coming mainly from Danica's parents. With this being a interracial couple will this work for them? I loved how this author's presentation of this read that will definitely keep your interest and attention turning the pages until the end. I found "Midnight Play" a contemporary romance that was well written and enjoyable that I would recommend it to all of those romantic readers.

Midnight Play is book 2 in the Blue Dynasty series, but I read it as a stand alone and had no problem enjoying the story. I am very glad that I gave Midnight Play a chance, it turned out to be an enjoyable interracial contemporary romance. I am not a sports fan and thankfully you do not have to be to enjoy this story. Although it revolves around a professional football team and Dex's desire to be reinstated as the quarterback for the Slayers, there is much more depth to the story. Another bonus for me is that the issue of race is not the main focus either. The real foundation of this book is the conflict and difficulties that are present between two strong willed people as they both try to get what they want most in life. For Danica, it's the respect and approval from not only her peers at work but from her domineering parents. For Dex, it's to go back to doing what he feels is meant to do, being the leader of the Las Vegas Slayers.

There is definite attraction and passion between Danica and Dex so we get plenty of steaminess. In Midnight Play we get to see the coming together of two people who can't seem to get out of their own way and let happiness simply happen. I enjoyed the secondary characters and Perry also provides good dialogue that helps move the story along which made for a quick easy read.

4 Sexy Dex Stars

Danica Blue is the GM of the Las Vegas Slayers and is considering the good girl, who tows the line for her mom and dad, she is their enforcer and all around rule follower. She is put together, successful in her career but with a recent divorce she just might be ready to get rid of the bad girl for one sexy quarterback.

Dex Harper is the ex-quarterback to the Slayers. He is facing a ruined reputation and questions what to do with his life and only with the help of Danica will he repair whats been broken.

This story overall was on the lighter side, good chemistry between two people. Sexy hero, and Danica was perfect for Dex. She seemed a little to put together for me to really like her. I like my heroines to care less about what other think usually, ALTHOUGH I do think her character was written well and worked with the story.

I would definitely read another book by Lisa Marie Perry.

This was also a great BR with some sexy ladies!!

I really enjoyed this book, it's my first time reading this author, but I can say that it won't be my last time. The chemistry between Danica and Dex is awesome. Danica is the GM of the Las Vegas Slayers; she's all straight-laced and projects a cold, standoffish persona to those that don't know her; Dex is the bad boy quarterback of the pro football team Danica's family currently owns.

I liked the romance between Danica and Dex developed, where they started out as friends and it became something more; it's refreshing to read a book that follows that path to love instead of the insta-love that happens. As for Danica's parents, they were something else entirely, and not in a good way. they were the type that if I had a house, I'd drop it on them. But hey, there's always got to be an antagonist in a good story.

"What a beautiful lie."

I was approached by this awesome author named Lisa Marie to review her new book Midnight Play and let me tell you that this book kept me awake throughout the night until it was done! The book starts off right away with this taunting sentence that gets stuck in your head for the whole story and it's absolutely fantastic!

description

Danica is the girl that no one messes with. A loyal but cold looking to those who do not know her. Does she care? Hell no. She cares about her career, her sisters and in doing the best job that she can... so i loved when sudden Dex comes along and challenges her and pushes her farther than she ever thought she could go!!!! I loved her from the first page on because you see immediately that even having recently got divorced, Danica wants to have something real, someone to love. She's amazing...

Inside, the marble floors echoed as Danica Blue marched—anyone who knew her knew she didn’t simply walk or strut or glide, but instead marched—to her destination within the grand hotel.

Dex is an AssHole! But a fantastic, handsome and amazing asshole. I loved this guy so badly. He is so sexy and in the beginning when you think that he's only going to be a normal and boring Manwhore, he starts talking and you see a side of him that just blows your mind. Then he says the most lovable things ever for a guy and just won over my heart in a heartbeat.... The reason why he's an asshole is just because when he opens his mouth you are not supposed to like him but you can't really help it!!!

He’d sworn to himself that he wouldn’t get drawn into touching her, or being the first to make contact tonight. “Danica, I miss you in ways a good girl like you might not want to hear.”

“I may be small, but I’m not fragile or afraid. Words are only words. They don’t shock me.”

“Which is what you want—to be shocked.”

description

It's like a thug of war between Danica and Dex because they are both so strong minded and tired of being alone that they get complete when they're together.... It's not supposed to be cute but damn i can't resist!! Lisa Marie managed to create such a strong bond between them that with every word you see them falling in love. Yes, there are some pretty cliché situations between them but that won't even bother ...

Midnight Play is definitely a must read for this summer!!!

I am rating this book 3 stars for an "okay" read. In my honest opinion, this book wasn't horrible, but at the same time it wasn't amazing. It was ranging on the middle, with some parts fun for me, while some not so much. It was kind of a push-and-pull read for me. Personally, I think my mistake was not reading the first installment. I think that I would appreciate this second installment better if I read the first one.

Regarding the concept and theme, I couldn't help but be drawn to it since I am a huge sucker for romance! The whole Mr. Reckless Quarterback meets Ms. I-will-help-you-change-your-ways-and-clean-your-image concept is something I have already read several times now. I honestly think that I'd love this book more if it weren't for the fact that I have read numerous books with plots like this. Yes, I like the story of the book, but it wasn't new to me. Nevertheless, it was what drew me to read this.

Although I do have a few issues with the book, let me list the things that I really liked about this one:

1. Again, the concept of the story.
2. The fact that this book includes multicultural characters, and how each character was described and written in an appealing way.
3. The book not only tackled budding romance, but also relationships with family & friends, show business & glamour, real-life issues, and career choices. I really liked how all these factors blended together well.
4. The witty banters! Yes, these types of conversations can definitely go a long way.
5. Enough glimpses of the relationships of the other characters in this book.
6. The sports (although only occupied few scenes in the book).
7. The various conflicts among the characters.
description

The only main issue I have with this book is that:

---I do love steamy scenes (I DO! I DO! And I liked the ones in this book) BUT I felt like they were more connected through lust, instead of love. (Although I do believe Danica & Dex truly loved each other)---

And...maybe a better cover? :-)

Normally, I'd give these kinds of books 4 or 5 stars, but again, since I already read numerous books like this, I have to give this 3 stars.

But nonetheless, I did enjoy this read! Also, this was my first book by the author!

3.5 stars.

As I was reading the first chapter of this book, I wasn't sure if I would like it. It was basically an info dump. Lots of inner thinking by the heroine, Danica. Lots of telling us about her. I fervently hoped the book would not continue in this vein.

Luckily it didn't and the story smoothed out nicely. I began to really enjoy it once Danica and Dex entered each other's orbit on the page. Their interaction and chemistry was the strong point of the book. She is front office, the GM of the football team and the person who just fired him. He is a talent, a hard partying ex-quarterback who is now battling for his reputation amidst allegations of game fixing.

The basic conflict between them is well constructed and offers up believable tension and potential romantic obstruction. I also liked that from a basic personality standpoint they were really different. I swear if Danica took the Meyers-Briggs, she'd probably be typed at an ISTJ. She is responsible, capable, focused and able to easily handle situations of stress. She's also intensely loyal.

Meanwhile, Dex would be more like an ESTP. Funny and charming, yet works hard. Communicates directly, no hidden agenda, an easy going risk taker who also liked to live in the moment. But more than anything he just loved football.

Really the two of them together was the best part of the book.

The other thing I really liked was that football wasn't just wallpaper or a forgettable backdrop for the story. When I read a sports romance, I like for the romance to also include a good amount of the sport. Otherwise, what's the point? The plot outside of the romance was all about running a football team and in Danica's case also about trying to rehab Dex's rep. Her family not only owned the franchise but were hands-on owners that added to the conflict. The football was included enough to give realistic flavor to the story yet did not swallow the narrative.

Which brings me to the part about the book that didn't work so well for me. Danica's family was messy enough and interesting enough that they added some layers to the story. And yet... I got impatient with them and the little subplot regarding her ex-husband. His got a few POV's that felt intrusive and I found myself wondering what his motives were? I don't think it got answered necessarily well. Also, everybody seemed waaay to preoccupied with her single state.

Otoh, Dex's family backstory was very intriguing and yet the author didn't explore it as much as I would have liked.

On the whole, this was a smartly written book with the romantic relationship being the highlight.

I am a die hard sports fan so I tend to stay away from sports romance because the authors so often get the sport they feature wrong (one author got nasty with me for pointing out the inconsistencies...). So, I went into this one with trepidation about the prominence of football. Thankfully, Lisa Marie Perry did her due diligence and aside from some nit picky stuff I was impressed. Not only did she get the sports right, but she never fell into the "but...but he's white" or "I'm still a sista!" tropes often found in Kimani IR. The book is really well edited and I enjoyed getting both main characters perspectives.

On the job, Danica was refreshingly competent. She was close to her family (who were all a hot, ungrateful mess), her friends (who were not all that great to her) and her co workers (who seemed to be the only people in the story who didn't live to antagonize her).

That's the good. Now to the not so good. This is a 224 page book that takes place over a fairly short period of time, but still felt random and disjointed. Why did we spend so much time with her ex? His friend's child's birthday party went on for pages because? Did we really need all the reminders that she drove a boxter? There were quite a few reasons given for why she wouldn't easily trust a loving relationship and then she gives up everything for love three seconds into their relationship because... he wants to have babies with her?

About the actual love story... I don't feel like I read a love story so much as a story about two people who were attracted to each other and really liked football. Danica quickly became the typical goddess just off the runway by way of Harvard heroine. She was written as if that was just a facade, but she never (not even at Faith House) came across as engaging or deep. I don't even remember the male leads name if that tells you anything about him. He had blue eyes and was not in need of Viagra. Their relationship seemed incredibly shallow and that may be because they were still in flirt fight mode well past 50% into my Kindle copy.

I guess I am just behind or something because I didn't connect with any of these characters like most other reviewers. His family drama was unnecessary and the Blue family drama could have been avoided by all three daughters seeking employment elsewhere.

This is a 2.5 star read because it was technically sound, well researched and pleasant if forgettable. I rarely round up, but I gave the extra half star for it being a story centered around a black family that never became about their race.

4 Stars!

The blurb:

Love evens the score

Because getting back on the team could mean losing Danica, unless he's willing to risk it all and play for keeps.

My thoughts:

First of all..

description

Exactly! Terrific. How I loved this book?!

Danica's has been divorced for about 1 year. She had been married for 10 years. Yeah! Pretty long time, I know. She's the general manager of her parent's football team, Las vegas slayers. She's the perfect daughter who plays by the rules. Knows how to handle guys.

And we have. Dexter. Dex Harper. The blue eyed devil. He was the starting quarterback of Las vegas slayers. But sadly, he was fired. Guess who fired him? Yeah! Danica. Irony right!

They were so cute together.

"You rescued my cake! I could kiss you"
"What's stopping you?"

Danica proposes to help Dex with his career. As the book progresses we witness a wild girl. Lots of sex. And pretty beautiful things.

description

And let me tell you! DEX IS THE BEST!

description

"What's with that hungry look in your eye?"
"I wasn't expecting you to smell like desert"
And you'd devour me if I let you.."We had a bake-off. Think Cupcake wars, teen version"

description

But what will happen? Will they risk it all? Or It will all turn into a beautiful lie?

Danica is used to doing what her parents want. Se married the man they wanted and only let them down wen she divorced him. Now she is general manager of a football team and not afraid to take the men on and keep them in line. She had to fire Dax but now she is trying to help him get on another team. It also helps her get close to him as he heats her up like no man has in a long time. Dax has spent his whole life on football. He has always put it first and doesn't let anything come between it. Now as he uses Danica to help him get on a team. He wants her like he has wanted no other woman. Football may not be the most important thing to him now. They both will have to see what they really want in life and stand up for it.

This was a very nice read. Danica at times did get on my nerves simply because she worried to much about being perfect. She was so afraid to make her parents upset or to stand up to her ex for most of the book. She is a very smart sexy woman and other than that she was a great character. Dax has a temper you can tell but he only lets it out when he feels he has been done wrong. He is a very proud guy and goes after what he wants. They both have lots of chemistry between them and you really can't wait to see if they will get together or not. I didn't like either of Danica's parents at all. Her mom is crazy and likes to be in control to much. The book has a great plot and great characters. It was nice seeing Danica finally face her parents and let go and I loved it when she did. I love all the steamy scenes and all the others as well.

Disclosure: I received an author's review copy in return for a fair and honest review.

I was expecting huge things from the second entry in the Blue Dynasty series, and Midnight Play delivered.

This isn't just a romance series: it's an exploration of the fall-out when well meaning, success-seeking parents demand "perfection" from their children. All three of the wealthy, gorgeous Blue daughters have issues, and Midnight Play is Danica's story.

As in any romance novel, this is also about the power of love to correct and complete life, but in these books it's never presented as an easy answer or something tacked-on. Instead, the process of falling in love with bad-boy football player Dex Harper is the impetus for Danica to re-examine her life and priorities. She has to wrestle with the pain of giving up her role within the family as the good, rule-obeying daughter as a step to finding out what she really wants. Being in love doesn't make any of that easy, but it does make it worthwhile.

A couple of personal (and spoiler-y) notes: I wasn't expecting to like Danica as much as I did, because of the way she failed to have her sister's back in book one. But this book rapidly brought home how lonely it can be to be the "good" daughter and try so hard to live up to other people's standards.

Also Martha, the youngest sister, has become my favourite person in the Blue family. She's awesome, and I look forward to seeing more of her.

MidNight Play: Blue Dynasty #2
Lisa Marie Perry

I received an author's review copy for my honest review...

WOW'ZA This Book Rocks! It's A Can't Put Down Book With Lots Of Football and Sexual Chemistry. Family Quirks Are Thrown In To Mix Things Up. It's Part Of A Series But This Can Be A Stand Alone Book.

Danica Blue, is one of three daughters, and she is also the GM of the Slayers Football Team in which her parents own. They are controlling, perfectionists and Danica strives to be the "good girl". She has trust issues since her divorce but wants to bring her heart happiness.
Dexter Harper, was the QB of the Slayer's Team, Danica gave him his "walking papers". He has family and commitment issues. Dex needs Danica's help to repair his "bad boy" image.
These two are thrown together often and find it hard to turn away from the lust that grabs them each time they are together. Try as they may to fight the sexual chemistry, the lust wins out. The relationship must be kept secret and her parents must not find out either.
Dex's image starts to change and so does Danica's personality. Can these two reach inside themselves and bring out the happiness they deserve and overcome their issues?

Again, I was not disappointed when I picked up this book to read it! I loved every minute of it! As with the first one Night Games, it pulled me in pretty quickly! I love the stories about the women who are making it in the 'man's world' and that they are strong women and more then capable of doing the things that need to be done while also remaining who they are and being able to do all that they do. Of course I also loved how Danica and Dex fell in love and despite all the odds they were able to make it work! I must say, I was a bit disappointed when Danica had decided to resign from the team but it's just a small part so it's not a big deal. It's one of those things that happen in life. One stepping stone. I love how the whole story was written and how it is something that really can happen in real life, it's close to real people and real things!

Like I said in my last review for Lisa Marie Perry...I will definitely be reading more of her books. She has become one of my favourite authors and I will definitely be recommending her to all my friends who read! :)

I was given an digital copy of Midnight Blue by author, Lisa Marie Perry to review. This is the second book in the Blue Dynasty Series.

Danica Blue, general manager of the Las Vegas Slayers Football Team, was considered the responsible one who always followed rules in life and work. She always did what her parents wanted, including saving their football team from scandal.

Dex Harper, the quarterback for the Las Vegas Slayers was accused of being a major part of the scandal. He wanted to clear his name and retain his position on the team, but Danica was not rehiring him. Instead Danica decides to help Dex clean up his image and find another team to join. Along the way love creeps in and they can no longer deny their attraction.

Lisa Marie Perry has once again created another couple who finds true love despite the obstacles they faced. I am really looking forward to seeing who will pique Martha's interest. If you love football and romance, you should purchase the Blue Dynasty series.

Length: 220 pages
Style: African American Romance
Story: GOOD
Intimacy level: GOOD
Enjoyment: FAIR
Series: ( The Blue Dynasty) book#2
Price: $4.61

3.1/2 stars

The Good

This was an ok read for me. Although I used the word ok, I still enjoyed the story. The author blended the characters well. Danica had obstacles and Dex had his own issues but it flowed just right for me as you cheered on these two to finally get it right. Of course I think Dex was sexy and I love him.

The Bad

Other than it being an ok read, I really have nothing bad to say. I didn't have the opportunity to read book 1, but read book 2 without any hiccups.

Overall

I would recommend this read, it flows well and I'm looking forward to more in this series.

I won this book through Goodreads First Read program.

This is the 2nd of the Blue Dynasty series and I really enjoyed the first one better, though this book was entertaining.

In this book we take another look at the Blue family and their operation of the NFL franchise the Las Vegas Slayers. Danica, daughter and General Manager, has to release bad boy QB Dex Taylor. Then she falls in love with him. She attempts to help him get his life together so he can get another NFL job.

Mom and Dad, who are very active owners, would be difficult to work for. Throw in that they have three daughters who are active in the operation of the team and you have a difficult situation for work and family. Where is the line with the Blues?

Two more to read to find out more about the Blues and the Slayers.

I received “Midnight Play (The Blue Dynasty #2)” as a free ARC from the author Lisa Marie Perry, which in return I am to do an honest review.
I loved this book. I never read the first, and was kind of worried about reading the second. It can be read as a standalone……and it was great! I loved it so much, I do want to learn about other characters in the book, so I will be reading the first also.
Danica is a headstrong, rule follower. I love her, but I love her even more when she decides that she can push the rules a little with Dex. Their chemistry is out of this world, and the sexual tension between them is so strong, you can cut it with scissors!
The banter, and character development in this story is wonderful. Can’t wait to read more!!

Loved this story! Loved the chemistry between Danica and Dex. Danica was very good at what she did as the GM manager. She had insecurities behind pass experience so she hid behind being the best. Dex knew he was the best but, unfortunately he was fired for something he didn't do. Once Dex and Danica started working together there was no stoping the passion and love. Danica's parents were something else. Seems their focus was solely on making money, controlling their daughters lives and winning.

I recommend this book to all Romance fans. You will not be disappointed.

This story of Danica and Dex was more than what I bargained for. Trust, friendship, support, and love wrapped up in one. Not only did Danni redeem herself from my dislike for her in Lottie story but she shined and stood up for what SHE wanted in life not being the pleaser that everyone expected.

Her reason for opening the Faith House touched my heart but handing her keys to Marsha was even bigger. All I wish is that their parents realize they are pushing them away moro so than creating a dynasty. Tem needs to be bitched slapped just one good time.

I AM SO LOVING THE BLUE DYNASTY SERIES .. DANICA AND DEX'S STORY WAS AWESOME! THE GOOD GIRL WITH A LOT OF BAD GIRL BEING PULLED OUT FROM FOOTBALL'S BAD ASS, I LOVE IT! DANICA'S TRYING TO KEEP HER GOOD GIRL IMAGE FOR THE PARENTS BUT DEX IS SLOWLY BUT SURELY PULLING OUT THAT BAD GIRL IN HER. THEIR LOVE IS EXPLOSIVE AND I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. WAS SAD WHEN I GOT TO THE LAST PAGE, BUT THAT'S OK BECAUSE THE THIRD BLUE DAUGHTER IS COMING IN DECEMBER! :) IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS SERIES, GO GET IT!

Sports, romance, and a great story. Danica is the GM for the Slayers. Dex is the former QB she fired. Scandal and scorching chemistry between the two of them. Meddling parents that own the team and try to control everything. An ex- who proves he is an idiot. Family relations that end up healthier at the end of the book.
