Insight #8

Imperial

Rate this book
When Glory’s life was taken, her reign was appropriated—her precious charge, given to her by the Creator himself, was removed. Even worse, the king, that at one time she swore she shared her soul with, was also taken, or at the very least, had done nothing to avenge her death. An eternity had passed thus far, and he’d yet to charge through the cathedral gates of The Reaper’s personal throne and beg for her return.

That is, until the night Glory caught the encroaching scent of mint lingering in the veil of death that surrounded her. Against her will she was sent home, home to a world that she did not leave behind. War was raging. A web of deceit, manipulation, and broken hearts and souls were pitted against not only her, but also for which her race stood.

Through her wrath she could not understand why Vade, the King of Anger, was insistent on walking her through every soul seizing first they shared together. All she knew was that the Creator, The Reaper, and the King of Anger all shared a secret that had everything to do with her, and those in her charge. In her mind, the unspoken words had to be horrific considering that she was glaring down at the end of days for all of mankind.

One word. The secret was one word—one word that will spawn an evolution that is unprecedented.
Everything changes now.

I'm an obsessive daydreamer. Lover of loud alternative music. I love to laugh until it hurts. Fall is my favorite season. Black is my favorite 'shade.' Strong believer in the saying: there is a reason for everything, therefore I search for 'marked moments' every moment of everyday...and I find them. Life is beautiful!

I have read all of the web of heart and souls that have come out and after every book I wonder if Jamie's imagination will run dry and I will get bored with the books but I never do. She really is a professional daydreamer to come up with such fascinating stories. This book answers questions about the Web of Heart and Souls that you didn't even know you had. I loved every part of Glory and Vade's story. Even though this book could be read alone I recommend starting from the suggested reading list and get sucked in with the rest of us dying for the next book.

Amazing.

I am forever amazed by Mrs. Mayer's creativity and how all of these pieces manage to be put together. Glory and Vade are the only two sovereigns on the original path and therefore their place in this tangled web is of utmost importance. I love how they overcome to become more than they were.

Continuing my reread of the series with the masterpiece that is Imperial. If some of the content in the previous books seemed confusing to you, I'm pretty sure this one will enlighten you completely.

If I had a word to describe this book, I'd say its "meta" compared to the others. We're following Glory and Vade, the "good" sovereigns because they are the only sovereigns really trying to do the job they were given in the first place. Every book by Jamie Magee touches one or several philosophical themes but this one, LET ME TELL YOU, it's a whole lesson. A lesson about listening, about expressing your feelings, about letting go of anger, about leaving old truths behind and about having patience.

Glory and Vade are magnificent, their relationship is regal and cute at the same time. Their purpose is very serious, so is their power, and I cannot wait to see the other characters reach that point in their story (one day, when other books will come out, eventually eheheh). On the other hand, the rest of the kings seemed very... insignificant, even foolish (hello Fielder, wtf?). It definitely shows Glory and Vade's power because they appear waaay more serious that their counterparts but it makes you wonder why the other characters have such a hard time destroying these stupid kings.

When I said this book could be enlightening if you don't understand perfectly what's happening to the other characters in the series, that's because Glory and Vade see everything: they understand the bigger picture and it kinda serves as a tutorial for the lore of this universe. I noticed there were a lot less dialogue in this book compared to the others because Glory is often explaining what is what (or reflecting on what's happening). And I think Jamie did it in a very nice way, it is never overwhelming, it comes at the right moment and doesn't feel like info-dumping at all!

Okay I'll finish this review by saying that this book is a must-read in the series if you want to understand who's pulling the strings and what our poor soulmates are living through (and why!). It also allows you to have a different POV on Silas, one he himself did not see coming... I would love one of the (hopefully) next books in the series to be about him and , to see their love story come to life. Their past was brief and loaded with difficult emotions so it would be nice to read about them rekindling their love in the middle of this web of hearts and souls.

Glory and Vade

As the next installment in the Web of Hearts and Souls series, this does not disappoint! Glory and Vade are the Queen of Wrath and King of Anger. He has waited for her return from the veil to show her that she is his "rush." Many of the characters from the rest of the series are in this story, and if you are interested in what Silas is up to, you will get some insight into his story. I can't wait for the next installment in this series! It definitely leaves you wanting more.

A must read to understand the series better I am glad it was created and that I read it. Everything in this plot is explained the reasoning for the characters in the insight and see series are going through, the history behind it all. The romance between the main sovereign characters was sweet hair gripping though I did find the reunion to be lacking something climatic. The plot has thickened I'm glad to know how everyone is connected to each-other and how these sovereigns are going to help their charges and when the big revel will happen something I'm quite looking forward to.

I love this author and how she writes. This is another spinoff of her other 2 series. They way she creates these characters and they connect with other characters from her previous series simply amazes me. This story was a little different then most of her stories and took me little while to get into but I am glad to have finished it. This story makes me see how it is necessary for other series characters intertwine in the future stories to come.

I loved this book and all of the other series by this author. In this book I'm starting to see how the story line as a whole is starting to come together. It's a fun way intermingle the different series while telling one whole story.

Great story

It was hard to start this because I was lost within the story. But when it starts to make sense then it takes off and you understand the why's which makes it enjoyed to read.
