Misconduct
I've been a backup goalie my entire professional career. I've bounced around from team to team, never staying anywhere long enough to feel at home. When I join the Sockeyes, and their starter is injured for the season, I finally have a chance to prove I belong in the league.
My career might be on an upward trajectory, but my personal life is in the dumps. I've become increasingly close to a teammate's estranged and emotionally abused wife, Inga Chowaski, rescuing her from situation after situation, causing friction on the team and disrupting my normally quiet existence.

Misconduct tells a beautiful story of survival and rebirth.
Vick and Inga discover an instant connection, but their lives are complicated, and to begin a relationship could be risky. They have to be cautious and patient to finally get the opportunity to know each other better.
Inga felt so real and relatable, unfortunately it's so true that an abused woman doesn't feel free as soon as she finally moves away from her abuser. I was so happy to see her bloom, regaining her confidence, and overcoming her fears.
I loved Vick. He is a very good man, sweet and gentle, protective but not overbearing, and he knows how to wait for the best person he's ever met.
Jami Davenport wrote a remarkable poignant book that had me hooked from the first page. The author addresses the theme of the abusive relationship with confidence and sensitivity. The reader feels invested into the characters' lives, sharing their despair and later on their well deserved joy. Dark scenes are well balanced by the love between the main characters.
I recommend to read this novel if you don't have any triggering.

Hockey player/Teammate's estranged wife (I know, right!?!?!), friends to lovers, team dynamics, finding who your true friends are, and spice!
I was a bit nervous when I first read the blurb because I hate OW/OM books. But this author made this storyline arc happen in the best way—by ripping our hearts out, of course. It was amazing. We really got to know these characters and got attached to them.
This book can be read as a stand-alone; you will just know more about the secondary characters if you have read the other books. But once you read this, you will want to read the rest of the series!

TW:Domestic violence
Misconduct is book 10 in the Scoring series about the Seattle Sockeyes Hockey Team. First: the main male character, Vick, is supposed to be mixed race, but the cover looks like an overly tanned white guy with bad lighting. Second: (spoiler) Inga, main female lead, is a woman leaving her controlling and abusive hockey player husband is NOT going to go out to the bar, known as the team's hangout, to have a meal with another guy on the team, when she knows her soon to be ex was served divorce papers that day. I could have believed maybe they went somewhere less visible or grabbed take out, but no way is she going to show up at a place (no pun intended since the fictional bar is called The Place) he is possibly going to go. AND she is not going to walk in there, like it is any other day, when she knows he is going to be extremely mad. Later in the story, she is more wary of walking in there, but so not believable. Third: I am irritated. Vick pushes the Inga to go do things, putting her in the path of her ex. (Spoiler) like having her sit in the WAGs suite when their dating relationship isn't public and she is getting a divorce from the ex who is a player on the team. It was like rubbing it in the abuser's face in a public way. Fourth: Vick is slightly pouty she didn't join him in the locker room after the game. Of course, she isn't going to go where her ex is, especially since she has a protection order. She is not supposed to be near the ex either, and he is at his place of work. Fifth: Vick expresses strong emotions about being a poster child for minority hockey players several times. Instead of working through it, Inga tells him to get over it because he cares about her and go be a role model for the minority kids hockey camp. This was an opportunity for Vick to grow and find a way to affirm his identity.
I generally like Jami Davenport's writing, and this series, but I have a hard time with this one, being that I work with people who have experienced abuse, several things would not happen the way they are written.

Inga thought she found the man of her dreams only to find her happily ever after turned into a nightmare of verbal, mental, and physical abuse. Inga finds herself isolated away from family and friends and solely dependent on Drago. When Drago comes home drunk and threatens to kill her cat, Mr. Bubbles, Inga knows she needs to escape the hell that is her life. Inga reaches out to Jessie Wilder for a place to stay. Vick and Inga find themselves attracted to each other, but Inga doesn't want to betray her wedding vows and friend zones Vick until her divorce is final. Can Inga keep Vick in the friend zone, or will she give into her feelings for Vick? Will Inga become more important to Vick than his hockey career? Will Drago make Vick look bad on the ice during games? Will other players finally see Drago for the manipulator he is? Will Drago let Inga go or make more threats? Will Inga finally realize that she must live her life and stop letting Drago have so much control over her? Will Inga's love be the catalyst that Vick needs to gain his confidence in his play on the ice? When Mr. Bubbles is cat napped, can Vick, Inga, and their friends find him before it is too late? I loved Misconduct by Jami Davenport. Vick and Inga are a great couple who made each other stronger as they work through their issues. I love getting to see other characters from The Scoring and Seattle Sockeyes series interacting with Vick and Inga. Ice is still the man! I would definitely recommend getting Misconduct and the other books in The Scoring series by Jami Davenport. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.

I love being able to go back to the Seattle Sockeyes series with each installment and catching up with old characters. “Misconduct” is a heartfelt, romantic and sweet meet by chance hockey romance.
Vick has been the backup goalie for the Sockeyes and now has his chance to prove that he’s starting material. After a game one night, he runs into a teammate’s wife who was left stranded behind at the arena. Inga has been unhappy in her marriage but has been too afraid to leave her husband. After he threatens her and her cat one last time, she gets the courage to leave. And Vick is there to help her in any way he can. But as they spend time together, there is a connection neither was expecting.
This book was so sweet and romantic. I loved Vick from the beginning, he’s protective, caring and isn’t overbearing like some guys can be. He’s in Inga’s corner from the moment he meets her and wants to make sure above all that she's safe. Inga has been in a stifling marriage that had led her to being isolated and unsure of her future. I loved reading about her regaining her confidence and being able to stand on her own without her husband. They’re relationship was a slow burn where they truly got to know each other before anything happened. Vick was incredibly patient with her and that’s exactly what she needed. Vick and Inga are so sweet together and meant to be. Their ending was perfect and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I love the Seattle Sockeyes series and getting the opportunity to have favorite characters From previous books appear.
Vick and Inga meet by chance one night after her husband leaves her stranded at the arena. Inga is in an abusive marriage with Vick’s teammate. Vick is attracted to her, but recognizes she’s absolutely off limits. He gives her a ride home and tries to be a friend.
When her husband threatens to kill her beloved cat, she finally gathers the courage to leave her husband again. This time she has support from several people including Vick.
The storyline is compelling and heartbreaking at times seeing how much Inga tries to minimize the abuse (verbal, emotional, and physical) and danger she’s been in and continues to be in. The romance between Inga and Vick is extremely slow burn as Inga doesn’t want to break her wedding vows, even though she’s filed for divorce and left her abusive spouse. A strong friendship grows into an irresistible attraction which gives both Inga and Vick added confidence in their daily lives.
I was happy to see Inga grasp a chance for happiness, and loved how supportive and protective Vick was of Inga.

Misconduct is Vick and Inga’s story and is a really good story❣️ Inga is the wife of another teammate, but it’s well known he’s not exactly loyal to her with the women he hangs out with when they are in different parts of the country playing hockey. She attends a game and instead of Chow taking her home, he goes off with a few puck bunnies. Vick graciously offers to take Inga home and glimpses something when he does. From that point on neither can forget the other but Inga knows it’s fruitless. That is until she makes a life changing decision🙌
I love how this story ended and that Vick and Inga get their HEA. I wasn’t sure at one point how this would happen but it was sweet🥰 I’m looking forward to getting to know Inga’s roommate Juniper better in the next story and find out what the deal is with her and Levi☺️ I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review🏒

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.

After encountering and saving shy and struggling with her husband, Inga Chowaski, he can’t seem to stay away. He tries to resist his attraction to her, the raising tension with the teammates. But his attempts are futile, he will do anything in his power to protect her. He will keep her no matter what. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.
Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a hockey, forbidden, teammate’s wife romance then you’re going to love it.

Wow! I absolutely loved this book! Vick and Inga’s story was a heartbreaking and heart healing tale of two people that are meant to be together. Although Inga is off limits to Vick you can’t help wanting what you want. Inga left her abusive husband ,that is Vick’s teammate, to start her life over. Vick is willing to do everything he can to help Inga. He’s so protective of her. I loved this well written, heartwarming, entertaining story of two people finding love and starting their life together. I can’t wait for what Jami gives us next!

Love the Sockeyes Series! This book was very emotional, and had me upset at times with Chow on the treatment of Inga. I saw Vick, as her happy ending. Love how previous characters were mentioned in the book, and can’t wait for the next one.

5 Star Review Misconduct (Scoring #10) by Jami Davenport
Misconduct was a fabulous addition to the Scoring series. This is new recruit and backup goalie Vick Marshall and
Inga Chowaski’s story and what a complicated story it was.
This was a well written and entertaining story with a couple who you cannot help but become invested in.
Vick knows that Inga is off limits to him but the heart wants who the heart wants. The connection that develops between them is impossible to ignore.
There is so much more to Vick, he is so protective and caring and I quickly fell for him. I loved how he was so supportive and there for Inga.
A wonderful, heartwarming story that ticked all the boxes for me.

Vick Marshall had bounce from NHL team to NHL team as a backup goalie never really getting the chance to prove himself. More people seem to focused on the fact that he was biracial than the way he plays and are always bringing it up. Part way through the season with the Seattle Sockeyes he lucked out and became the starting goalie after the main one was seriously injured. Vick knows that one of his teammates Drago is a player both on and off the ice and is constantly cheating on his wife, Inga. One Drago leaves his wife intentionally behind after a game, Vick offers to take her home and in doing so he realizes that it is more than just cheating and will do anything in his power to help her out. Even keep her whereabouts a secret after she escapes. But what he wasn’t expecting was to start falling in love with her. Now he not only has to prove himself on the ice as the best person for the goalie position, but also that he is the right person for Inga when all is said and done.
Inga Chowoski thought she would have a wonderful marriage, instead it was a nightmare. While she downplayed it a lot there was no mistaking that Drago was a bully who believed in mental, verbal and physical abuse. He had shut her away from her family, friends, a job and more. After he started threatening to kill her cat Mr Bubbles she knew she had to escape. Luckily for her they were now in a place where people believed her and supported her even when she wouldn’t admit to everything happening. When one of the players came to her rescue over and over again, she couldn’t help but fall slightly in love with him. Even though she knew that if Drago found out he would play the victim. So until the divorce was final she had to keep their relationship a secret.

As a parent of mixed kids I have seen a lot of things both good and bad both on and off the field. Other than that it was great way to see some of the players on the Sockeyes and where they are now. Hopefully there will be an update on more relationships soon.

Firstly, let me say that if domestic violence is a trigger for you, there is some implied violence and abuse, and a little in 'real time', so be aware. Secondly, this was book treated this situation with the gravity it deserves, but also highlights the stigma and fear that people hold within themselves.
Vick Marshall is the backup goalie for the Sockeye's and after their starter gets injured, he finally gets his chance. In a chance meeting, he offers a ride home to one of the other players wives, Igna, who went out partying without her. When he is driving her home, he sees real fear in Inga, and feels an overwhelming need to protect her. The fear of what her husband, Chow will do, always makes Inga stop when she thinks of leaving him, because he has told her he will never let her go, she will always be his! Whenever he makes yet another threat, this time directed at killing her beloved cat, Mr Bubbles, Inga makes the decision to flee. She only has one friend in Seattle as Chow has kept her ostracized from everyone, so she seeks sanctuary there.
As Vick's career is taking off, his relationship is very definitely in the friend zone, as Inga does not want to betray her wedding vows. Over several months their friendship grows, and even though both know that having a relationship with a teammates wife could harm their career, neither can help their feelings. This book is beautifully written and has real emotion in its story. The relationship between Vick and Inga is sensitive and shows real depth. This is the first book in the Sockeye's/Scoring series I have read, but I didn't feel I had missed out. It can definitely be read as a standalone.
Vick Marshall is the backup goalie for the Sockeye's and after their starter gets injured, he finally gets his chance. In a chance meeting, he offers a ride home to one of the other players wives, Igna, who went out partying without her. When he is driving her home, he sees real fear in Inga, and feels an overwhelming need to protect her. The fear of what her husband, Chow will do, always makes Inga stop when she thinks of leaving him, because he has told her he will never let her go, she will always be his! Whenever he makes yet another threat, this time directed at killing her beloved cat, Mr Bubbles, Inga makes the decision to flee. She only has one friend in Seattle as Chow has kept her ostracized from everyone, so she seeks sanctuary there.
As Vick's career is taking off, his relationship is very definitely in the friend zone, as Inga does not want to betray her wedding vows. Over several months their friendship grows, and even though both know that having a relationship with a teammates wife could harm their career, neither can help their feelings. But Drager Chowoski is not a man to be beaten, and he can make things very difficult for his teammate, and dangerous for his soon to be ex-wife.

Misconduct is book 10 in the Scoring series by Jami Davenport. It's always fun to go back to Seattle to catch up with the Sockeyes players!
Vick has been the backup goaltender for the Seattle Sockeyes for some time. He's now getting his chance to start given the starter, Brick, is injured. Vick is minding his own business after a home game when he encounters one of his teammates wives who has been left at the arena. Being the nice guy he is, he offers her a ride home.
Inga has not been happy in her marriage for a long time, but she's terrified to make a move to leave, as she feels the repercussions would be worse for her and her beloved cat. When she is put in a position where the threats from her husband are just too much to bear any longer, she gets the gumption up to leave.

Emotional, heartfelt, confronting
The Seattle Sockeyes series from Jami Davenport has become a 'go-to' for me, and book #10 MISCONDUCT was another wonderful addition. It is an emotional, heartfelt, confronting story which held me completely captivated, testing my emotions with every page tuen.
When the Sockeyes goalie is injured Vick Marshall is finally given a chance to shine, but his first game is an absolute disaster, and he believes all his hopes of being starting goalie in the NHL have died. Meeting Inga Chowaski, a teammate's wife, and driving her home after she is abandoned by her husband Drager, might just be the impetus he needs to turn his life and hockey career around. Inga's marriage is not what it appears to be, her husband is both abusive and neglective, and she's made the decision it's finally time to leave him. Vick and Inga's friendship is one of genuine support, care, and encouragement for each other. Their friendship has an effect on Vick's hockey game and Inga emerges from the shadows Drager had kept her in. What of their friendship though, will they be able to find the love they both yearned for with each other?

I was a little disappointed in this book because of two of the main arcs going on: spousal abuse, both mental and physical, and ethnicity

I felt that they were not really resolved in a satisfactory manner, leaving me feeling disappointed when typically I love JD's writing.
Nick is a person of multi-ethnicity and felt he suffered from discrimination throughout his life. I understand his not wanting to be seen as a token player but rather as only a hockey player. That is the whole idea for the "hockey is for EVERYONE" campaign that is currently being run by the Seattle Kraken and what I'm sure JD was writing for the Sockeys to be promoting . It should not matter what you skin colour, religion, or sexual identity is, only that you want to play hockey and be the best player you can be. Nick becoming part of this campaign for Inga is the wrong thing to believe in and I really thought it was glossed over when he decided to do it. I just got the impression that he didn't truly believe in what he was going to be part of.
Then there is the abuse storyline. I'm sorry, but it infuriated me that nothing was said about the texts that can easily be used as evidence, along with the physical bruising on Inga's neck and torso. And for Inga's ex only to be suspended? Especially with the Parker's viewpoint on abuse. Didn't by him getting off so easily.
I'm hoping that the next book with Levi and Juniper is not so disappointing.

Vick Marshall is the guy who while is in the big leagues he is the back-up goalie. He feels as if he has been shown off most of his career because of his biracial status. Vick finally gets his chance to play when the regular goalie suffers a career ending injury.
Inga is Drago's wife but their marriage is less than happy. Drago is not just a player on the field but with the bunnies as well. He is also both mentally and physically abusive to Inga (trigger warning). Inga puts up with it because he has threatened her life and the life of her beloved cat. Drago leaves Inga stranded after a home game and Vick volunteers to take her home. That night when Drago comes in very drunk and pulls his stunt, Inga finally reaches her limit and decides to leave Drago.
From that point forward, Vick becomes Inga's champion as well the rest of the team as none of the guys like Drago and don't appreciate his cheating on Inga. Drago doesn't like that Inga has left him and makes her life really rough with the harassing and stalking. All of this draws Inga and Vick closer together as he shows her what a real partner is like.
I promise that this is another book in the series that you will love and that is a must read! Another hit by Jami!

I really enjoyed this wonderful story. It was very emotional, heartfelt & romantic. Inga has been in an abusive relationship with her husband for over four yrs. She has finally decided that now is the time to leave. The Sockeyes are on a road trip & she has a chance to make a break. However, will hiding in plain sight be a good idea?

Emotional and attention grabbing! The tenth book in Jami Davenport's Scoring Series from her Seattle Sockeyes franchise is bringing on the feels as backup goalie Vick Marshall gets his turn to shine all while falling for the one woman he shouldn't want. The characters are well developed, the plot is fraught with tension and sweetness and the connection between the two is really tender and satisfying. I did want more though. There was a lot of angst left on the table here that could have played out more dramatically while portraying Inga's plight more realistically. That side of the storyline should have delved a little deeper into bringing awareness. There was also a hot spot for Vick that was brought up on several occasions but then glossed over instead of showcasing the reality of his reasoning. Overall, I enjoyed them very much and the story easily held my attention throughout. I highly recommend the series to hockey romance fans that enjoy a close team camaraderie as each player finds their forever love!

I love the Seattle Sockeyes series. This is a wonderful addition to the collection. Vick is a backup goalie to the Seattle Sockeyes and due to an unfortunate event, he finally gets in and tries to prove himself.
Inga is the wife of Drager, a player on the Seattle Sockeyes. Vick meets Inga after a game one night when she's standing outside of the locker room waiting for him to take her home. Unfortunately Vick has to tell her the Drager already left with others to go hang out. Drager is constantly with other woman and gets drunk often. Inga finally decides to leave Drager when he threatens to kill her beloved cat. Luckily she had friends who supported her when she left him.
Vick knows that he shouldn't get involved with a teammates wife (even if they are getting divorced) but he's attracted to the shy woman and wants to help. This book touches on a lot of subjects that unfortunately happen in the real world. The author does it in a very caring way but it can be difficult to read for some.

Jami Davenport gets a shutout with MISCONDUCT (Scoring #10). Sockeyes backup goalie, Vick Marshall, is finally getting a shot at being the starting goalie. The last thing he needs to do is to start waves with his teammates. However, when he suspects veteran defensman, Drager Chowaski, is abusing his wife, Inga, he is not sure he can stay away and not protect her.
Jami Davenport does a nice job with this story. The characters face substantial problems. Vick is a good guy. He is mixed race and having issues with being used as a minority roll model. Vick Marshall has been the backup goalie for a variety of hockey teams but when the Sockeyes goalie is hurt this is his chance to prove himself finally. After his first game in goal he is introduced to Inga, player Drager Chowoski’s wife who needs a ride home. Vick realizes she is very skittish and nervous and he gives her his phone number though he knows he should stay out of it. Domestic abuse is not a fun topic for a romance book but the author walks the line between too much of that storyline along with Inga’s new life when she gets up the courage to leave him. She and Vick become friends since Vick is so helpful and supportive. He wants to be more than friends but there are many circumstances that make it a bad idea. Their relationship develops slowly and is not a typical romance. I received an arc from the author but would have read the book anyway as I’ve read all the others. I love catching up with old characters on the team. Recommended.

I love my visits to Seattle and I love catching up with the Sockeyes so I was excited when I heard we were getting book number 10 in the Scoring Series. This is backup goalie Vick Marshall and Inga Chowaski’s heartfelt and heartwarming journey.
Vick finally gets the chance to move from backup to starting goalie and after the game he runs into a teammates wife whose husband seems to have forgotten her. What follows is a heartwarming and at times heartbreaking story as Vick comes to Inga’s rescue. He knows she should be off limits but he can’t sit by and watch her suffer. A friendship is formed and as they spend time together feelings come into play.
I loved everything about this book, I fell hard and fast for Vick and my heart broke for Inga but it was the camaraderie from the Sockeyes and their partners that took this book to the the next level. A wonderful addition to this great series.

Vick Marshall had settled in as the backup goalie for the Seattle Sockeyes after bouncing around the NHL but he might be getting his chance when starting goalie Martin (Brick) Bricker (Goaltending - Seattle Sockeyes Book 4) was injured. But giving Inga Chowaski, a teammate’s wife a ride home after being stranded might change him and his outlook on playing hockey.
Inga knew her marriage was bad but she knew that trying to leave her husband would lead to problems because he made sure she was isolated from people. What’s not to love about Misconduct. We have two people who cross paths and everything changes at that moment. Inga is a woman married to an abusive husband and she needs to have the courage to leave when she decides she never imagines her husband teammate steps up and shows her what a real man is all about.
Vick is the backup goalie for the Sockeyes but what he sees is that a teammate Is anything but and when he happens to help his wife he knows that there is something special about her and he has to prove to her that not all men are like her ex.
Inga & Vick will have to deal with a lot of emotional issues and lot of trust issues but he knows that Inga is worth every second he spends with her and with a lot of love and care he knows that she definitely can be the one he has that HEA with.
