This book takes off where Gillian Garr's 1992 She's A Rebel leaves off, and is a perfect companion volume for that great book. It features interviews (that read like thoughtful essays) with Joan Jett, Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill), Valerie Agnew (7 Year Bitch), Lois Maffeo, Naomi Yang (Galaxie 500), Kendra Smith, Phranc, Candice Pederson (K Records), Bettina Richards, Chris ...more

Wow...I read this in high school and it was a revolutionary text for me at that time.
The interviews are well done and clear. It transports you into the living room of the artists and provokes a sense of empowerment and pride.

mentions a lot about riot girrls and 80s/90s punk/rock woman and 2nd wave feminism
I may have actually liked this book a little bit better than its companion, Angry Women. Thirteen female musicians and producers, ranging in experience from the established to those of the young underground discuss their views on politics, sexuality, creativity, violence, authority, feminism, corruption and exploitation in the music industry, and many other topics.

It's a great book to get the behind-the-scenes stories of some of your favorite legendary female rockers!

I wish I'd read this years ago! It would have been more revelatory then. Still worth the read, though. The Jarboe interview is amazing.

This book has a hot photo of Leslie Mah from Tribe 8 wearing a strap-on. WHY did I get rid of this? I would love to reread it right now! Interviews with all my favorite bands from high school!
