Rate this book
Being a twin has its perks. This year, Willow and Winston are holding their first ever co-ed birthday party, and everyone in class is invited. This means Win’s cute friend Jacob is on the guest list. Willow’s pumped that her crush will be coming over and gets the Sleepover Girls to help her plan a party that’s all kinds of awesome! But even the best-laid plans can go awry. Jacob seems to like Ashley, and mean girls Franny and Zoe are driving Willow nuts. Can the birthday girl pull it together and throw a memorable party, or will her birthday be a complete bust?

Willow’s Boy Crazy Birthday
By: Jen Jones

In this book “Willow’s Boy Crazy Birthday” by Jen Jones, Willow and her other three best friends go along with her on her adventure to plan her birthday party. This book had an effect on me by showing how crazy life can be and that you just need to be happy through ups and downs.

The author shows how hectic life can be and how you just have to give your best and always be the best person you can. In the book Willow has to plan a stressful birthday party for her and her twin brother, Winston. He doesn’t help her out and causes a little mischief along the way for her. In the book Willow has a crush on her brothers best friend, Jacob. She learns that he doesn’t feel the same way at the end of the book but gets over it very quickly and is happy. These examples show how the book affects the reader and the rest of the book. They show that when Willow’s crush doesn’t like her but likes her best friend, she gets on with life and just stays happy. It affects the book by showing or changing the way she feels throughout the rest of the book. Even when Winston doesn’t help her out she forgives him at the end of the book. Here is some of my textual evidence. “I wasn’t going to let this ruin my birthday.” (page 107). “Plus, it was hard to dwell on that when there was so much other fun stuff to focus on.” (page 108) “And, as I looked at Win standing next to me, the Sleepover Girls whooping and cheering, the gift table piled high, and my cake-toting parents, it was hard to come up with a wish.” (page 109)

I really recommend this book because it has great morals and things that many people can relate to. I liked the book because there were a lot of things I could relate to, there was nothing I disliked about the book. The book wasn’t confusing for me at all, and I could read what it said and understand what it was saying. It has a good reading level. The book wasn’t predictable because there were many things you couldn’t see coming. I really liked the ending because it was happy and it showed how to just be happy in life. My favorite part was probably the ending because it was so happy and very in depth. This book related to my life because these things can and could happen in my daily life. Things about the author's style are that she almost always ends the chapter with a cliff hanger and her chapters aren’t too long or too short. I really liked this book and recommend you to read this book.
