Real Science-4-Kids Physics, Level I, written at a 4th and 5th grade level, presents college level physics in a way children can understand. Concepts included are: Laws of physics and the scientific method; force, work and energy; potential and kinetic energy; motion; chemical and electrical energy; current, magnets and electromagnets; light and sound energy; and conservation of energy.
This was a good introductory textbook for lower level kids. I didn't do most of the experiments from the lab book however. I'll just review both here. The lab book is full of draw/write this as you crash marbles into one another. Way too much drawing or writing. OR it requires items I couldn't easily find around my house. I much prefer many other physics-type experiments/demonstrations I've seen in other books. However, I've homeschooled long enough that unfortunately, I now understand that as much as I like the IDEA of discovery and experimentation, it drives me wild to organize the materials and take the time to do them; especially if it was a lot of work for little result or wrong result. So this is an fine text for little kids, but I was given it for free. I don't think I'd pay much for it!!
