Are you drifting in your life? Are you just going through the motions doing the same things you have always done? Do you wonder why your life never changes? Or maybe you need to drift? To take time off and get away from the madness of your busy world? This book addresses both drifting and not drifting and why both are necessary. It is about growth, becoming more, not being the "usual you" aspiring to something better, changing your thoughts and ultimately your personal freedom. The freedom you have always longed for. Isn't it time for you to make a change? To create your own system and your own life?
I found this book incredibly uplifting. Tim Rode has done a fantastic job helping guide readers to improve themselves constantly in "Are You Drifting?". I have read and reread a multitude of self-improvement books, and Tim's has been one of my favorites.
Tim makes what he has to say relatable for the simple fact that he comes across as a "normal" guy. What I mean is he's relatable: he has a typical background when growing up; he went through school and college like most people do; he's bounced around from job to job; he decided to go into business for himself (with his brothers); he's experienced the highs and lows from the up's and downs he's gone through; he has always felt there was "something more"; he's done a great deal of searching, of the soul and otherwise; he speaks in everyday, easy-to-understand language.
What I find most enjoyable about "Drifting" is not that Tim speaks from some metaphorical lectern-on-high, but rather, he has synthesized and brought together in one book those teachings he has found most impactful personally from so many thinkers of self-improvement. He basically says: I'm an average guy who came across these amazing principles and strategies for improving my life, and they've worked for me whether I knew I was implementing them or not! There are a great deal of notes, bibliographic references, recommended books for further reading, etc. That's quite a task that took years in the making to produce this book. Years of reading, studying, exposure, enlightenment, brought to you, the reader, in one big healthy dose for your own personal growth.
If you are new to literature in the self-improvement field, you may have to read this book more than once. There's much to take in since there are many sources he has collected from. For me, as an enthusiastically prodigious reader in the genre, I was aware of many concepts but not all of them. And that context illustrates the greatness of this book and others like it: no matter how much you read and learn, you can and will always learn more by reading more. There are authors and books I haven't heard of that I will now be delving into in the future. So it doesn't matter if you're a novice or a pro of self-improvement material, Drifting will teach you, period.
If you want improvement in your life, you'll want this book. If you want to know how the best thinkers think, you'll want this book. If you want to know what's important in life, you'll want this book. If you believe there's more to life than what you've been told, you'll want this book. If you want to know why Tim is happy and successful and loving life--and want the same for yourself--you'll want this book. If you want to be the best you can be….you'll want this book!
