Aldebarian Alliance #5

The Renegade Akseli Cyborg

Rate this book
Dive into the next thrilling novel in New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall’s fast-paced, humorous, and adventure-filled Aldebarian Alliance series.Too many years of hunting psychotic vampires night after night have left Rachel with a desperate need for change. So when the opportunity to travel across the galaxy aboard a Lasaran warship to a utopian planet arises, the powerful Immortal Guardian jumps at the chance. Rachel eagerly looks forward to making a fresh start… until an enemy attacks and she ends up alone in an escape pod so far from alliance-occupied space that no one can hear her communications. No one except a renegade cyborg who shouldn’t exist.

After a grueling, hard-fought rebellion, Wonick and his cyborg brethren settled on a distant planet, where they’ve finally carved out a peaceful existence. The Aldebarian Alliance believes every Akseli cyborg died long ago. And battle-weary cyborg leader Wonick is determined to prevent anyone from discovering otherwise, knowing such would spark the fiercest manhunt in the galaxy. Yet when he hears Rachel’s communications, temptation drives him to speak to her, sparking friendship and a longing for a very different future.

Rachel finds Wonick even more appealing when she meets him in person, and the friendship they’ve formed soon deepens into love as the cyborgs—no more immune to her fun-loving, laughter-inducing nature than Wonick—cautiously welcome her into the fold. But the warriors’ unbridled ability to collect intel uncovers a secret the enemy has guarded for decades, one that compels them to embark upon a mission fraught with danger.

If they succeed, they may end the enemy’s attempts to conquer the galaxy once and for all.

If they fail, it could cost Wonick and Rachel This is a fast-paced science-fiction adventure packed with romance, edge-of-your-seat action, laughter-inducing humor, lovable secondary characters, and a HEA ending.

This story follows, Rachel, an immortal guardian, weary from years of hunting vampires, as she seeks a fresh start on a utopian planet. However, her plans go awry when and enemy attack leaves her stranded in an escape pod.

Wonick, a battle weary leader of Akseli cyborgs, has established a hidden sanctuary on a distant planet. The revelation of his survival could ignite a galaxy wide manhunt. Yet, when he intercepts Rachel’s distress signal, a connection forms between them, leading to friendship that blossoms into a tender romance.

While I do love Duvall’s way of writing characters and relationships, unfortunately the last four books of this series have felt very similar. The fmc are always incredibly strong and well written, but they also have an immature and childlike behavior that is annoying.

wonderful

I really love Dianne Duvall, I have read all her books, but this one has 3 stars because I think the personality of Rachel, Simone and Eliana are just TOO similar so I feel like I am reading the same book with other “hero”, even the books are very similar…I will love to see another type of character (she character), dont get me wrong I think the personality of Rachel , Simone and Eliana is wonderful, but hope the next book is different🙌🏻

Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of good to say about this book. And I’m completely mind boggled by all the 5 star ratings.
I mean, the writer can write her a butt off, but there’s more to writing than just using big words and being good at the technical part of it.
I feel like she maybe rushes through these books and that the passion isn’t necessarily there.
Again in this book, there was a tremendous amount of recycled words, phrases, paragraphs, maybe even pages that she used in previous books.
And unfortunately, this heroin Rachel was an exact copy of Simone and Eliana . I mean, the writer doesn’t even try and make them different. They’re all these super bad ass terminator on crack females here to save the freaking day.
And no matter how insanely strong and powerful the males are they have to take a backseat and basically just hold her handbag while she saves the day and kicks everybody’s asses.
It’s just not believable and not hot for a romance book for heterosexuals. I mean if this book was catered towards lesbians, It could it , but it’s not.
Call me crazy, but as a straight woman, I want in my romance books for the man to be predominantly the hero, and the savior. And that doesn’t mean that the woman has to be weak and helpless and pathetic, but she doesn’t have to be the strongest of everybody and be the biggest warrior and kick everybody’s ass and be the hero. Maybe that would work for a fantasy book but a romance book it doesn’t.
It’s not hot for the man to take a backseat and be a purse holder and a yes darling whatever you want agree er. I just don’t get the current writing and maybe even the publishers if they think catering to young women this is what young women would find hot and attractive? Cause it’s just really not. I love a strong female. But the male characters in a romance novel have to be equally, if not a little bit more bad ass for it to be attractive.
And in alot of these books it’s not I feel like the roles have been switched and it’s not very appealing.
And also with this, I feel like the romance and the sex scenes are absolutely an afterthought. There’s no creativity there’s no originality they’re all the exact same and I don’t even think the author enjoys writing those scenes. I think she would be better off just writing fantasy.
P.s. it also really annoys me how Pleasantville the people are and all these books. All the men are just so polite so courteous so thoughtful so sweet so understanding. It’s like watching a 1950 sitcom. There’s no real depth to them there’s no real anything to them. The men have gone through so much they have so much trauma and so many scars and have dealt with so much yet there’s just no layers to them. They almost just seem like brainwashed 1950s polite robots. There’s just no hot edge to them, no cheeky banter no layers. Every single man was the same except for. jak’ri and his brother. if you’re looking for complicated deep layered hot bad ass heroes, don’t read the series.

This book was a little too similar to the previous book for me. Hence, the three stars instead of 4.

I am a huge fan of Duvall’s series and have devoured them all. This is a sci-fi romance series and a spinoff of the Immortal Guardians. Renegade Akseli Cyborg is the fifth audiobook in the Aldebarian Alliance narrated by Kirsten Potter. While Duvall does a splendid job of bringing new listeners up to speed, spoilers concerning other paired couples and the overall arc, not to mention the fact that the series is awesome has me recommending you listen in the order of release.

Rachel, an Immortal Guardian, tired of fighting vamps on Earth, was aboard a Lasaran warship headed towards the promise of a utopian world when the ship was attacked. Her escape pod rocketed her far from alliance-occupied space. She doesn’t have enough fuel to reach them and hopes of being rescued. She broadcasts an SOS when Wonick, a renegade cyborg and his brethren, hear her distress call. Wonick is drawn to the voice who claims she can kick the enemy’s arse single handedly…lol.

I absolutely loved the tale that unfolds from the first meet to the romance and fast-paced plot. Lots of engaging battles with the enemy alongside the shock and all of Rachel’s skills had me grinning as her cyborg companions stood slack-jawed. The story of the cyborg’s creation and then ordered destruction was a fascinating one. I was all geeked out over their new planet and technology.

Our enemies are vile creatures from their experiments on others to their obsession over domination. Duvall had me cheering as Rachel and her new allies engaged with them. It was intense, and dare I say fun?

The romance built right alongside the danger, keeping me fully engaged. The series is fantastic on audio and Kirsten Potter captured Rachel’s snarky, curious personality. She gives voice to each character, and I loved the serious captain, young cyborg and, of course, Wonick.

The story delivered from beginning to end, giving us updates on previous characters and setting up the next story. I cannot wait! This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

Boring, boring, boring

Not a single spark of life in book 5; No mystery. Just humdrum. I like most of the protector books But this one was a chore to even finish reading.

I don’t really want to go into a whole review. Cliffnotes: same old Dianne Duvall - in a good and bad way. She’s writing the same thing she’s been writing forever which hits me in the nostalgic feels, but also feels outdated and copy and paste. I’m sure I’ll be reading the next one tho.

Man I seriously did not see that one coming. I knew Rachel was a badass so whoever stole her heart would have to be one as well, but who would have thought a cyborg that had been hiding for 20 years would be who stole her heart. That was a kick-ass story and I am so glad that Rachel finally found her little slice of peace with Wonick... I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series.

The Renegade Akseli Cyborg de Dianne Duvall Serie Aldebarian Alliance libro 5

Argumento:

4.5 but on the better side.

So I have to say that all the women have more or less the same personality at least the ones that are immortal guardians and that is the only thing that irks me with these IG in space of the Aldebarian Alliance. It this one, the hidden cyborgs, that we saw at the end of the last book, find one of the escape pods.

Fantastic addition to the series

No plot spoilers.
No potential triggers.
The characterisation is absolutely perfect, with each character displaying individual personalities and motivators that allows the reader to form a connection, but especially the two main characters, Wonick and Rachael.
I absolutely adored them both.
As for the plotline, I can't fault it.
On a cold, windy and wet English night I am sitting here with the worst raw throat and chest infection in years feeling delicate and full of the lurgy, yet I am with found friends racing around space and setting wrongs to right.
I am transported from sickness to thrilling adventure and deep romance.
This series is far more than a sexy romance set in space. Yes it more than delivers on sexy times, but it also delivers on the romance part too.
It delivers the sci fi aspect, with some detail on differing species, and details on alien technology, more than enough to satisfy the sci fi addicts.
It has romantic aspects, and it certainly has the thriller element, what with plots and sub plots and dubious characters.
I absolutely adored the Immortal Guardian series and have undertaken quite a few re- reads and this splinter series has all the hallmarks of equalling the Guardian series.
I can't wait for the next book in the series and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Due to convalescence from surgery, this took me way longer to listen to as I normally do. As always I love the narrator, Kirsten Potter, so I waited for the audio and I was very happy I did. It was hard waiting though because of how much I love anything this author writes.

This time around cyborgs were added into the pool for romantic partners. Rachel is in her pod floating with a very little time before she dies due to being jettisoned from another space ship that is blown up. She begins talking on her radio and a man she dubs Handsome begins having long conversations with her. The planet her pod is going to land on is one that no one ever survives once landing. I think I am going to leave it there other than to say that Rachel is an Immortal Guardian. Since this series is a spinoff of the Immortal Guardian series that should make sense. All of these alien books are just so well drawn.by the author. She plans out the planets and what they look like to the nth degree. I especially like her descriptions of wildlife as well. Her characters are so well done and since I listen, the narrator makes me feel like I am right there experiencing everything the characters are. Amazing world building.

I enjoyed this whole book! It had romance and lots of exciting action scenes. I rated it 5 stars and it deserved every one! Narration was 5 stars as well.

This was such an amazing book! Dianne Duval has done it again with another 5 star read.
Wonick and Rachel were amazing characters. Wonick, the cyborg in hiding who just wants to protect his brethren and their peaceful planet. Rachel, the Immortal Guardian who kicks a$$ and shows the cyborgs they can trust her. And that they do have allies out there willing to help.
There were so many emotional moments in this book. And your heart will ache for Rachel and the destroyed Kandovar ship.
It was a page turner from the beginning. And you had better make time to read it in one go! Because once you start, you won't want to put it down.
Is it too soon to ask for the next book??! I can't wait to see who the next book is about. I will be waiting (im)patiently for any upcoming news.

beyond all expectations

This is a fantastic addition to the series. I think it could be read as a stand-alone story but reading the series will certainly enhance the readers pleasure. An earth woman floating thru space, hoping her oxygen does not get used up, gets rescued and find a colony of Cyborgs. She is wanting to find the rest of her friends from Earth. He must stay hidden because of a lie told about cyborgs makes him a wanted by his enemies. The world building and character development on this one is exceptional. It is a great read. Highly recommend the book and the series. HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger, but there is a continual theme of finding all the missing people from the explosion which flows through all the books in this series. Enjoy

fun read

This was such an enjoyable read. I laughed, and cried during this read. The writing made me feel the pain and sorrow of losing friends and the pain of the torture that they went through. The love and friendship between Rachel and all of the cyborgs was heartfelt. I didn’t want this story to end. I can’t wait .until the next book comes out and I can read more about these off world beings.

I would recommend reading if the books in order, but this book can be read alone.

I really like this series as a spin off to Immortal Guardians, but sadly this book was basically a repeat of the last two. The saving grace to this one is a long waited battle at the end. I binged both series again an realized all the sex scenes are a repeat too, but with different couples. So, I was disappointed and hope the next book recovers the series or ties back to Seth and crew.

I love this series, each new installment adds to the overall saga. In this case the good "girls" kick butt and don't back down! The bad guys smell like swamp water and act like the snakes they are. Already looking for the presale email for the next one.😊
