No wrong moves.

Those were the words the first boy I ever loved whispered in my ear on graduation weekend.

Naively, I believed him. Now those three little words feel like a bad omen I can’t escape.

Every move I’ve made since I returned to South Chapel hurts my ex-boyfriend, Greedy. But it’s for his benefit. That’s what I tell myself. Intentionally hurting him is for the best.

It has to be. I said goodbye to the possibility of forever with him the moment my mom and his dad “introduced us” at their engagement dinner.

Three years have passed, but that doesn’t matter to Greedy. He’s hell-bent on making sure I remember it all.

On my darkest nights, the memories win. Since his bedroom is just two doors down, he’s the anchor I seek when it all feels like too much.

But now Greedy’s best friend is back in town, and he and I are “dating” to get his meddling mother off his back. Not only is Levi my new fake boyfriend, but he’s also our new roommate, too.

No wrong moves, Greedy assured me years ago.

What if there are no right moves either?

So Wrong is the first book in the Boys of South Chapel series. It is a steamy second chance why choose romance. A full list of tropes and triggers can be found on the author’s website.

Abby Millsaps is an author and storyteller who's been obsessed with writing romance since middle school. In eighth grade, she failed to qualify for the Power of the Pen State Championships because all her submissions contained the same theme: young people falling in love. #LookAtHerNow

She's best known for writing unapologetically angsty romance that causes emotional damage for her readers. Abby prides herself in writing authentic characters while weaving mental health, chronic illness, and neurodiverse representation into the fabric of her stories.

Abby met her husband at a house party the summer before her freshman year of college. He had a secret pizza stashed in the trunk of his car that he was saving for a midnight snack—how was she supposed to resist that level of golden retriever energy and preparedness? When Abby isn't writing, she's reading, traveling, and raising her three daughters.

╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'S𝐎 𝐖R𝐎N𝐆' Is the first full length romance book in the 'Boys of South Chapel' series. Spoken in 'dual perspectives' Ends on a cliffy

Tropes
Angsty, Athlete, Close Proximity, Enemies-to-Lovers, Fake Relationship, First Love, Friends-to-Lovers, Polyamorous Romance, Sibling's Best Friend, Sports, Step-Sibling, Why Choose!!

This pulled me in straight away and hit me with the feels, we've already met these characters in the 'Too Safe' series, Joey is Hunter St. Clair's best friend.

'So Wrong' flits from past to present effortlessly so it was good to see things when things were good between them to when it started unravelling in their relationship, they were each other's firsts, first loves, first heartbreak, everything was going smoothly that summer until the big announcement which left them blindsided, her mother is due to marry his father. That day will forever be marked in her mind of the day which didn't just establish the ending of Greedy's and her relationship it also signified a tragedy. Greedy's best friend Levi was her shoulder to lean on when she needed a friend the most as she fled to Europe.

That was three years ago. By all accounts Hunter and Greedy haven’t really moved on. Now they’re all back in the place where it all came about with Levi taking more of a front seat in their dynamic. He's recovering from a sports injury and was saved from the clutches of his mother's claws by Hunter which is where the fake relationship comes into play adding more flames to the fire when he'll be under the same roof as her and Greedy.

The push and pull between Hunter and Greedy was heartbreaking, the love they shared ran deep, he wants her back, she's trying to protect him, then throw in Levi, he's also falling under the Hunter spell, he calls her Daisy, she calls him Duke. Greedy calls her Tem.

📚𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒚 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒄𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝑰 𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆, 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒏'𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆, 𝒅𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓.

Greedy has my whole heart beating in the palm of his hand, when this boy loves, he loved fully, no other woman will ever claim him, and he loves Hunter with all he is.

I'm eager to see how these characters establish where they fit in Hunter's life, one as a couple, the other friendzoned? I can not wait for the next book!! 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

"Life has a rhythm. Everything happens for a reason, even if we don't know what the reason is right away."

Greedy Ferguson was Hunter St. Clair's first love.
Since the moment they met, he knew she would be more.

"We're going to be a lot more than friends, you and I."

She knew it too.
But that was then.
Now, Hunter can't be with Greedy anymore.
There is no way. It's for the best.
But now Levi Moore is in the picture. Greedy's best friend.
And Hunter wants to help… so the solution?
Fake Dating.
Fake Dating her new roommate while living with her stepbrother.
Seems pretty simple right?
But as Greedy assured Hunter from the beginning…
No wrong moves.

"If Levi's attention caused butterflies, then Greedy's feels like the deafening vibration of a thousand cicadas screaming in unison."

I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

"Greedy is nothing to me nowadays. He has to be nothing."

This is my first time reading Abby Millsaps but I promise you here and now it will definitely not be the last because OMFG this book absolutely CONSUMED ME!!
The transitions between the past and the present. The building of plot lines. The characters. The romance. THE SPICE!! I am hooked and I need the rest of this series ASAP!!
I am in love with Greedy and Levi and Hunter is amazing! And I just know I am going to absolutely LOVE what is coming next 💓💓💓

"I hate hurting him, but I have to hate him. It's killing me. It's also keeping me alive."

We follow Hunter St. Clair both in the past and present which I love! We get an insight into their history while reading about their present and I think it just adds so much more to the story.
Hunter is trying to do what she believes is best. And her reasons are honestly heartbreaking and also made the playlist with some of the song choices I made.
Greedy and Levi believe that Hunter holds the moon and to them she holds everything. She is everything.
That kind of adoration and awe is heartwarming (as a contrast to before). The history they have, the way that affects their present, and the fact that everyone is trying to protect each other. In whatever way they think is right.
I cannot wait to see how this story goes on. These characters (and new ones) and this plot. The secrets and the romance. Loved it!

"She wants to forget. All I want to do is make her remember."

As I said the playlist is heartwarming and heartbreaking which I think encompassess this story perfectly so I hope you love it 💞💞

So… Yeah… My heart… Abby put readers through the paces with this first book in the new series. I love the chemistry and tone for what’s to come.

As reminder, I’m in the middle of a move to another state with my family. My reviews are not as detailed as they usually are, but I’m struggling to keep my head above water right now. I’m sorry to anyone this disappoints. I look forward to my life returning to normal when my free time is spent reading, not packing!!

So Wrong by Abby Millsaps

3/5 stars

This is such a difficult book to rate. Some parts I absolutely loved and others didn't resonate with me at all. And it switched up so many times that I am not really sure what my actual thoughts are. But hopefully things will clear up when I am writing this review.

The book starts with Hunter and Greedy going to the hospital to their friend Levi. He just got injured and they want to be there for him. But we immediately sense that Hunter and Greedy have a past. And Hunter keeps him at a distance.
When they arrive at the hospital, they overhear Levi's mother talk about him needing to go to church. Need to reform because he is bi-sexual. They decide to take him home with them. And that is when things get a little complicated.

This book alters between past and present. In the past we see Hunter, Levi and Greedy become friends. Hunter and Greedy start a passionate relationship. And they each have nicknames for eachother. They love deeply.

In the present Hunter grows close to both of them. She finds comfort in Greedy's arms at night at times. While slipping away in the morning. She starts to have sexual feelings for Levi and acts upon it. While pushing Greedy away.

But Greedy is clear and tells Levi:

"She's mine," I repeat, my voice thick and solemn this time. "And she knows it. She might not be ready to admit it, but she fucking knows it."

The thing I struggled the most with. The characters felt very fictional. I loved the love scenes. Those were hot and needy. Perfect for this type of book. But I didn't feel them fall in love outside of the love scenes. The only one with his feelings on his sleeve was Greedy. And Greedy gets treated rather horribly by Hunter time and time again. That big secret. I think it was rather selfish to keep that from him.
Plus I didn't feel Hunter fall in love with Levi. It all just sorta happened. It was written flatly and without emotion.

I normally really love 'why choose' romances. But this one felt really rushed. And the ending, I just didn't get it. The more the merrier?

I don't understand how sexy, dirty and sensual the love scenes are. Without the couples having any chemistry outside of the love scenes.

So I am still kinda confused on how to rate this book. I think I'll settle on 3 stars for now. And maybe adjust it in the future once my head is a bit clearer.

DNF @ 55%

First I want to say I received an ARC of this book & I enjoyed the series that I previously read by this author… but unfortunately this one just wasn’t for me.

The quote that really did me in & caused me to put it down was during two of the MCs first time together (both virgins):

“𝐇𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐦𝐞. 𝐈 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐦. 𝐖𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐧. 𝐖𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐬𝐦 𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐈’𝐦 𝐚𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐰𝐞’𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞.” …

then you immediately go into a new chapter & the MMC is confessing his love & they’ve only just started dating.

I’m sorry but no. Just no.

This was so good!?!?

I usually don't prefer character driven novels, but this was told in dual timeline between the past when the heroine first started dating her boyfriend, and the present where she left for Europe for years, only just moves back into his father's house because he's now her stepbrother?? The angst was everything and she actually starts falling both for her ex and his best friend. And the guy that shows up at the end!?!?! I need to know more! This was just so addicting and I couldn't put it down! I can't wait to pick up the next book!

this was messyyyyyyyyy, angsty, dramatic, a little confusing and unrealistic at times, but i couldn’t put it down and am very curious to see where it goes.

this is a why choose that develops over the whole series so this book is mainly focused on the rise and fall of her relationship with her high school sweetheart turned stepbrother and her developing relationship with their best friend.

there were parts of this that were very unrealistic ok, the night they lose their virginities they bang so much they’re dehydrated and she somehow siphons gas out of a gas tank with resistance bands. and she is unlikeable and messy in this 90% of the time but we start to get hints of why she is the way she is.

if you love an angsty why choose series, i think you’ll enjoy this and i’m very curious to meet the rest of her guys and see how it all shakes out. if you’re iffy on why choose, i don’t think this will be the book for you

“No wrong moves, Temi. You’re my first and my last. I never knew what I was waiting for, but now I know it was you.”

I love books that pull on my heartstrings, so this was an absolute treat for my soul. This book had me feeling all the emotions—so much joy and sorrow—and I was crying by the end.

First and new loves, a second chance for a HEA—Hunter’s story was both sweet and heartbreaking. I adored the two MMCs; Greedy and Levi are all-in with golden retriever vibes.

This is a medium-burn MF that works its way towards a why-choose relationship. It isn't particularly spicy, but the spice that does exist is sweet and tender, with first times and loving touches.

So Wrong is the first book in the Boys of South Chapel series. It ends on a cliffhanger with a shocking revelation, and I'm on tenterhooks to see what happens next.

3.5 Flovely Stars ⭐️
Spicy Level:🌶️🌶️/5

This is a multi-POV story following Hunter and her ever-growing collection of boys, but in this book, that collection is just Greedy and Levi.

𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨:
This synopsis is hard because this story is told in two timelines, and a lot of the present timeline deals with the events from the past.

Hunter is back in North Carolina, living with her stepfather and stepbrother after living in Europe for a few years. However... her history with her stepbrother (Greedy) is far from ordinary. Before their parents got married, Hunter and Greedy were in a relationship (doing things "siblings" shouldn't be doing...), but they never told their parents. Something significant happened between them, and the book gradually explores this backstory - SO I AM NOT GOING TO SPOIL THIS but it is a major trigger so there is an Author Note about this at the start. On the day Hunter found out Greedy would be her stepbrother, she ran away to Europe. Now that she’s back, Greedy’s best friend, Levi, who is also a mutual friend of hers needs somewhere to convalesce from a football injury. Levi can’t return home because his mother is a pious "pray away the gay" type, and being bi causes issues. To help, Hunter tells Levi’s mom they are in a relationship, and Levi moves in with her and Greedy. This sets the stage for tensions to boil over as the three of them navigate their complex dynamic.

𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨:
Let’s talk about Hunter. I really dislike past Hunter. It’s a recurring theme throughout the book: she’s selfish, impulsive, and often outright annoying. She makes reckless, thoughtless decisions that are hard to sympathise with. The only saving grace is that these were choices made in the past, and she is not the same person, so the carrot dangling in front of your face, keeping you reading, is SHE GETS BETTER AND YOU WANNA SEE WHO SHE IS NOW. Present-day Hunter shows some growth, which makes her more tolerable, but the shadow of her past actions lingers.

Greedy, on the other hand, in my opinion, is too good for Hunter. He is sweet, thoughtful, and continues to pine and miss the girl right in front of him who won’t give him a second of her time. It’s sad to watch how he aches for her and how sweet and kindhearted he is.

I can’t help but feel like Hunter’s appeal defies logic, making her very much a Mary Sue. There’s this bizarre trope at play where it seems like every man who touches her is immediately obsessed. Honestly, it’s hard to understand why... she’s not that great as a person, especially when considering her past interactions. The only plausible explanation? She must have some kind of magical, spellbinding vagina that hooks men because the fact that so many men lust after her defies reason.

The narrative does a decent job of blending the past and present, and there are moments of genuine emotional depth, especially with the moments of Levi and his struggles with his family and his identity. It was this weird push and pull where the boys were definitely the ones keeping me hooked because I couldn’t really feel a connection to Hunter, given her actions.

A large part of this book did annoy me because the drama and angst are brought about by the fact that these CHARACTERS CHOOSE NOT TO TALK AND COMMUNICATE. There is no miscommunication, just a refusal to open up about the actual struggles.

𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙨:
▶ High School & Collage Romance
▶ Forced Proximity
▶ Second Chance kinda
▶ Step Siblings
▶ Ex's (and Step Brother)'s Best Friend
▶ Forbidden Romance
▶ Fake Dating
▶ Dual Timeline
▶ Reverse Harem

and 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤 𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙨:
▷ Look at Me
▷ Mine
▷ Dirty Talk
▷ Chin Lift
▷ Rolled Sleeves/Forearms
▷ Forehead Kisses

Overall, this has good and annoying qualities. The writing is captivating, and I do applaud Abby Millsap for making me dislike and like a character AT THE SAME time... I am intrigued to see where Hunter and her ever growing collection of boys goes...

From the first introduction to Hunter in The Boys of Lake Chapel series, I knew she was going to be a girl to be reckoned with. She is the strongest, sweetest, caring, most genuine girl even while suffering with some inner demons she battles every day. This girl has been through the ringer yet she continues to put everyone else first.

Hunter returns to her hometown after 3 years of finally putting herself first for once and going to get a fresh start. This book reflects on both her current life and the past, showing how and why she is the mighty woman she is today.

Upon her return, Hunter finds herself back encircled with Greedy and Levi, a boyfriend and best friend, from her past. She wears her heart on her sleeve.... and so do they.

Just when Hunter thinks she’s starting to regain a bit of control in her life, another two people from her past show up unannounced. Why is ‘she’ back? What does she want now? What is he doing here? How did he even find me?

I laughed, I cried, I was kicking and screaming while I absolutely DEVOURED this book. Abby’s writing will make you feel so connected with these characters. They don’t live a perfect lavish life in a fairytale world- they are raw and real humans with true life issues and that get no special treatment; just like you and me.

Book 1 of this series did not disappoint and in true Abby Millsap fashion, I AM DYING for book 2, she’s an absolute she-devil with how this book ends.. and I mean that in the most loving way possible.

I’d recommend reading The Boys of Lake Chapel series before diving into this series, however it is not required and can be read without that background.

Note: Check trigger warnings before diving in!

💗My Favorite Quotes:
“I love watching you run,” he repeats, his tone low, “because I get to fantasize about what it would be like to catch you.”

“Baby... It’s going to be okay,” he assures me again. “No wrong moves, Tem, remember?” I nod mechanically. Standing tall, I drop my hands to my thighs. “No wrong moves.”

“My smut brunch friends and I read it all. Dark romance. Small-town romance. Sports romance. The options are endless,...”

“Life has a rhythm,” he whispers. “Everything happens for a reason, even if we don’t know what the reason is right away.”

“So, that happened,” I awkwardly throw out. I swear I can hear him smirk. “It did.”

I’m a sucker for a pretty cover. When I first saw this one a few months ago I knew I needed to read it. However, romance books haven’t been my favorite genre to read this year because I feel like I read the same stuff over and over again just with different characters. So, when the author reached out to me and asked me to read this I said okay! Even if I don’t like romances all that much these days, I liked the idea of this being an MFM romance which isn’t something I usually gravitate towards. And let me tell you I AM SO GLAD I DID. I devoured this book. I started it today and finished it 4 hours later. This book HELD ME CAPTIVE and wouldn’t let me go. It’s SWEET, has a few spicy scenes that will make any reader blush, and has an amazing backstory which makes the story feel whole. And the sex? It doesn’t overpower the storyline AT ALL. It’s great but the few MFM romances I’ve read were mostly about the sex and that’s not the case here at all. Gosh I appreciated this SO MUCH. These characters have LIVES and were living through it with them one step at a time. Some moments pull at the heartstrings (I was ACHING for Greedy SO MUCH), and there are other parts that made me laugh. This book shows flawed characters, and you absolutely FEEL for things they’re going through- Levi for example and his mother (made me so mad LOL). But I don’t want to say much because it’ll spoil the story, so I’ll leave it at that.

This is NOT a filthy romance that revolves around sex. In fact, there are a few scenes that are very spicy and amazing, but they aren’t littered throughout the book. I think anyone wanting to take a dip in the WHY CHOOSE genre should start with this one because it gives readers what they want in that regard, but it doesn’t scare them away with too much! I absolutely loved it and I highly recommend it!

PS: This is book 1 in the series and each book follows the same characters so you MUST read them in order. If you have a KU subscription you can read it for free!

there was like only 20-30 pages left but i had to dnf. so, i’m counting it as read. i’m sorry it just got too dramatic to me and started to feel like a soap opera. i won’t rate it since i technically didn’t finish it, but it’s not an awful book. just not for me.

why choose is one of my favorite subgenres but it’s so hard for me to find one i actually like. i think i prefer it in a fantasy setting and will keep that in mind going forward 👍 i need more that are as good as bonds that tie, beasts of the briar, and ironside academy 😭

There is nothing I hate more than a then now timeline. It takes me out of the story so much. However I was very invested in the story so I stuck it out and based on the cliffhanger I supposed more is in store since that’s when we meet the 3rd MMC. I’m not the biggest fan of Hunter either miss girl is so selfish but alas I finished the book and will read the next one so that should tell you what you need to know.

🎶 My boy was a montage. A slow-motion, love potion 🎶

After returning to South Chapel, every decision Hunter makes seems to hurt Greedy, and she convinces herself that it's all for his benefit. Their love story was cut short at her mother and his father's engagement dinner, severing what could have been a forever together. Three years later, Greedy Ferguson (H) is determined to keep the memories of their past alive, especially when their lives intersect in ways that reignite old feelings. As Hunter St. Clair (h) battles her emotions on dark nights, often seeking solace just two doors down in Greedy's bedroom, the arrival of Levi—Greedy’s best friend—complicates things further. In an effort to deflect his mother’s incessant matchmaking, Levi and Hunter pretend to date, but their arrangement forces them into the same living space, blurring the lines between friendship and something more.

UPDATE 8/11/24: OMG GUYS. I READ THE BOYS OF LAKE CHAPEL AFTER THIS AND I APOLOGIZE TO GREEDY AND HUNTER ☹️ THEY ARE THE BEST PEOPLE EVER. Hunter is such a good friend to Joey and Greedy is so kind 💖🎀🤍💕💗💗 I love them. I’m sorry I take it back!!!! BUT these were my OG thoughts. I recommend reading the other series first.

He tugs me closer so we’re touching from knee to chest. For the past half hour, it’s been nothing but subtle grazes and little touches. It’s like each time we’re within arm’s reach, we can’t help but gravitate into each other’s orbit.

I don’t think this book should be categorized as a "why choose." It’s more of a “this is why I choose Greedy and use Levi in the process.” I’m only curious to read the next book to see how Spence came about and to get Greedy’s full reaction to finding out about the baby. However, he can’t face backlash because he didn’t know; if he had known, he would have been there. I don’t think the timeline of their relationship warranted this great love, but Greedy still cared, and he was essentially a doormat for her. He allowed her to walk all over him continuously simply because he cared about her that much and she was the only girl he had ever been with. For Greedy, it has always only been Hunter. There was no other girl, even during their time apart. One can admire his love and loyalty to Hunter, even when she didn’t deserve it. I think she needed to stop playing with his emotions and let him go if she wasn’t going to fully let him in. I’m not a fan of Hunter, but one can appreciate how much Greedy cares about her, even when she does her best to push him away. He’s loyal to a fault.

[Greedy]

“You want to talk about a living hell, Hunter? The pain of seeing you every day would be a living hell. The idea of being in the same house and not being able to hold you is my idea of a living hell.”

“This isn’t over,” he whispers, both palms raised in a temporary surrender. “It’s you and me, Tem. We’ll figure this out. I’ll stop at nothing. I won’t let them keep us apart.”

If it’s a "why choose," then why did the entire book revolve around Greedy? Levi was a side character in their love story, only becoming her comfort person to avoid going to Greedy. I think it was cruel for her to go to Levi and then call out for Greedy instead, asking for both as a distraction. It seemed all she needed was a way to escape her past, but she wanted to forget her history with Greedy. I feel for her; she lost a child with Greedy and never told him, so she has to carry that pain by herself. However, she used Levi as someone she could rely on, who understood all her internal battles. If Levi hadn’t known about her struggles, I don’t think she would have felt this level of comfort around him. I doubt she would have felt connected to him after her time in Europe. I don’t mean to sound cruel, but I think Hunter uses people, and she found Levi to be a convenient distraction from her agony. I don’t doubt that she cares for him; I just don’t think it should be anything other than platonic.

”I’ve been waiting for months for you to let me in. Really let me in. I gave you space. I let you sneak into my bed, take what you needed from me, then sneak out the next day.” He roughs a hand down his face and sucks in a sharp breath. “I told myself that, eventually, it would be enough. That if I was just patient, if I waited you out, you’d come back to me.”

The book centered around her relationship with Greedy in the past timeline and her fake-dating of Levi in the present timeline. However, she was still reeling over her loss and couldn’t stop talking about how much she missed Greedy. When it came to Levi, she forgot how much she had missed his presence while he was gone. It’s important to note that she had been living with Greedy, so she was closer to him and saw him often, even when she tried to avoid him like the plague. Still, she wasn’t close with Levi at all until he came to town. Even then, she would get glimpses of the past, and those always included Greedy. I'm unsure why she fell in love with Greedy in the first place; their connection feels bland. From the moment they met, they engaged in instant flirtatious banter, and then they rapidly hung out, with him asking her to be his. They didn’t waste time, and their fall into love didn’t seem gradual. One moment they were dating, and the next, they were in love; it felt like there was more telling than showing in how that happened. I’m not connected to their relationship at all. I do think Greedy should know about the baby, but I don’t think that should have been the entire focus of the plot or treated as a grave secret. She should disclose it when she’s ready. Unfortunately, that choice was taken from her by another random love interest who appeared at the end.

[Levi]

Life isn’t fair. No one is guaranteed a happily ever after. But there’s solace in knowing that there’s a person in this world who sees me and knows me. Levi knows my darkest moments and witnessed my lowest lows, and despite it all, he stuck by me.

Levi feels like a placeholder for Greedy and someone with whom Hunter trauma bonded. They seem more like friends with occasional benefits than a couple capable of having a genuine relationship. Levi was the best friend, and I believe that’s all he should have been. He was there for her when she needed support the most, but I think she took advantage of that because she wanted to forget Greedy for a bit. Still, Levi allowed her to be selfish with him. It’s painfully obvious that Hunter will always have a preference or soft spot for Greedy. I also think that Levi being bisexual was used as a plot device to make it easier for him to share Hunter and to create an eventual connection with Greedy. I don’t like that he was used as a way to bring Hunter and Greedy closer. Levi genuinely deserved better, and I don’t think he should have been treated as a second option, because that’s exactly how it felt. Levi didn’t receive enough attention in the past timeline; it was as if he didn’t exist at the center of her world. She only called on him or sought him out when she was hurting over something Greedy did or said. I’m not a fan of Hunter, I’m sorry. She seemed to be in need of affection and latched on to the first person who offered it to her. She has deep mommy issues that she needs to address before she adds another man to her harem. Hunter’s body responded more to Greedy than it ever did to Levi.

─── ・ 。゚☆: OVERALL*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

If I had known this was a one-sided "why choose," I wouldn’t have picked it up, but now I’m invested. I hate that I get curious easily because I still want to figure out how this ends. I’m even more frustrated that this is an unfinished series. I hated this, but I’m still going to continue it — Levi and Greedy should date instead. Hunter is unbearable; I’m sorry if you liked her. I don’t like being a hater, but she just wasn’t great. She was closed off (which is valid), but she was terrible at communication, which led to problems that could have been resolved in one chapter.

This was my first Abby Millsaps book and it certainly will not be my last.
The spice doesn't happen straight away and I enjoyed that "getting to know you" aspect of the characters. It was nice having the flashback chapters meshed into the story so you get bits and pieces fitting together slowly before the whole thing ramps up.
Excited to read So Real and get all the rest of the tea.
Much love to NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for my ALC.

I received an ARC in exchanged for a honest review.

I'm such a fan of Abby Millsaps' writing. It's beautiful, it's flawless and her characters are to die for.

This is Hunter, who is Joey from Boys Of Lake Chapel's best friends story, so we already knew her. This is her story with her stepbrother Greedy and her best friend Levi.

I liked that this is told in both the past and present. It was a smart move on the authors part because it meant we got to fall in love with Greedy in the past and Levi in the present.

Levi!!!! Greedy!!!! I love these men. Levi is such a sweetheart and Greedy is so lost in Hunter. I really felt for him but also knew Hunter had a good reason for everything she did.

I am very often a little annoyed with third act breakups. Just cause it's often like a misunderstanding or miscommunication or even just a stupid little thing that causes it. But in this book I really understood it. I totally got Hunter's feelings and why it had to happen.

That ending though had me so confused. Like who's this new guy. I'm sure we'll find out in the next book. Can't wait for that to be released.

You know it’s a good book when it’s one of those sit down and finish in one sitting books. I was about halfway through this book when I stopped only to add the rest of Millsaps books to my TBR list.

I loved the writing, I loved the characters and I loved the plot/spice.

The only thing that has me upset is that I have to wait for the next one to come out!

For everyone who’s looking for a why choose series that’s NOT dark romance, I give you The Boys of South Chapel series! Don’t get me wrong, I love a dark why choose book just as much as the next girl, but I actually really enjoyed the change in pace with this one. This book is still emotional and you should read the TWs, but I am definitely vibing with the college sports romance setting. As for the characters, I like them so far, I feel like I haven’t really gotten to know them all too well yet because this book is almost like a prequel to the series as it has a lot of flashbacks. I also feel like my favourite character might not have been introduced into the fold quite yet👀 It does seem like there are going to be some newer additions to the group dynamic that I’m very much here for. Overall this was a good start to the series and I’m definitely intrigued to see what’s in store for Hunter.

ARC Review: 4⭐️ 2🌶️

Uhmmmmmm okay….. this is my first Abby Millsaps book and I don’t even think I can say much without giving anything away other than OH MY GOD.

I had book besties finish this before I had a chance to and I read the warnings when I signed up to arc this and knew what I was getting into but did that stop me?! Absolutely not. I read the tropes and said oh hell yeah. Well what am I saying now?! OH FUCK NO.

That cliffhanger?! Holy hell, this is almost worse than a fantasy cliffhanger. I honestly think it’s tied because of how everything just went down?! Like whatttttt.

I cannot wait 2 months for the next book, but I am forced to. And every breath I take in those two months is going to be laced with the deep despair this book has caused me. Drama queen much? Yes but once again, OH MY GOD.

I can’t even say much other than I am so so curious to see how this goes. And that I love Hunter, Greedy and Levi. The love and connection each of them have with not only each other as best friends but all together was so wonderfully written, you could feel and understand it on such a deep level. The absolute tension and angst from this book, from the beginning, the secrets that were held and the questions I had. The back and forth scenes that had me on edge? GAH.

I will be in a deep agony until book 2. Until then, brb while I go binge her BOLC series to hold me over until July 24th. 🥲

How do I even begin to properly describe, explain, review, etc. this incredible start to Hunter’s story. I guess the easiest, most succinct, way would be to say this is better than any CW show I’ve watched.

Abby *always* brings the angst and the heart and this time is no different. I loved the then & now timeline storytelling. Getting pieces of Hunter, Greedy, and Levi’s past sprinkled throughout the book was like great episodic tv.

My heart is breaking for all three of them honestly. They are each hurting in different ways and poor 18 year old Hunter just didn’t make the best decisions. She’s like Decker from BOLC in that way, heart is in the right place but the actions don’t always deliver a positive outcome. But honestly what do you expect from an 18 year old girl without proper parental support or guidance?

Greedy, my boy!! I love this man. He’s the most perfectly imperfect man and I’m very much #teamgreedy This guy has been put through the wringer and he is still devoted to Hunter even after the 3 years she was away. (no spoilers but I am like Elmo & Kabir is Rocco right now - bye Rocco!! 👊🏼)

Levi, my baby!! I just want to hug him and tell him that he is in an incredible human and so lovable and special just the way he is. (Also that truck scene was elite and lives rent free in my head on replay!! 🥵)

The tension and spice and yearning!! Omg the pining in this book is freaking top tier! Greedy has some of the best lines in this book. He is such an emotional guy, like total heart on his sleeve for Tem. We definitely find out the story behind that nickname and it is so perfect for them!

I have been DYING to read So Wrong after all the teasing we got in the Boys of Lake Chapel series! I needed to see the past and present of Hunter, her NOT brother Greedy (I love him so much, it’s not even funny 😫) and his best friend Levi (sweet, filthy baby)
Three years ago Hunter and Greedy met and fell in love with each other only to get completely blindsided by their parents (his father, her mother) who announced their marriage during their engagement party and without any prior warning! Hunter has find herself in an impossible situation aside from the whole stepbrother debacle, and with the help of Levi, she deals with it and practically flees to Europe… only to be back now and doing everything in her power to keep Greedy at arms length, freezing him out and hurting him, even if that breaks her too…
SWEET BABY GREEDY, I felt so protective of him. The only thing he ever did was love Hunter and fight for her with everything he had only to get lied to (by omission) by her and the other most important person in his life…
And the way things ended in this book, made things even worse! I’m hoping for swift justice and for that pompous dude who appeared at the door in the very last pages to get a rash in all the uncomfortable places 🥸.
In Abby we trust, so gimme So Real already 😭

First off, can we just appreciate how freaking cute this cover is!? I am obsessed.

I was so excited when it was announced that Hunter was getting her own series after Boys of Lake Chapel (highly recommend if you haven’t read it yet).
I ATE THIS BOOK UP DUDE. There is so much heartbreak and angst as well love and support between Hunter, Brady and Greedy. I love them all so much. AND THAT TRUCK SCENE!? ABBYYYY, who knew you would top the sprinkles scene, iykyk! 🔥🔥🥵🥵

I am absolutely itching for what happens next!

Okay, first off, I feel like that ending could be considered cruel and unusual punishment because rude.

This was a really good start to the series. The dual timelines when done well are really fantastic, and I think it was done well here. It makes it much more show rather than tell. You're given glimpses back to that all important summer that both started and crushed their relationships while also being in the present where they're all shoved back together like it or not.

You don't really know what happened between Hunter and Greedy for quite a while and I think that's both a good and bad thing. Good because it leaves you unable to stop reading because you absolutely have to know and bad because it can make it a little difficult to root for them or fully connect.

Overall it was an entirely positive reading experience. All of the main characters are easy to like, the pacing is really great so there's no boring lulls or fillers, and the plot is interesting all the way up to that cruel and unusual ending.

I went into this book completely blind because I’m meeting Abby at a signing event in March and I wanted to read some of her books beforehand - so, I had no idea what I was getting myself into! Wow, this book was so good and covers some incredibly heavy topics, so make sure you take those warnings in the beginning very seriously.

Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Quantity of spice: 🌶️🌶️
Quality of spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
*There are three spicy scenes in So Wrong. I’ve included the pages & percentages at the bottom of this review.*

So Wrong is told in past and present timelines. The FMC and MMCs initially met the summer after their senior year of high school (past timeline) and the current timeline is a little over 3 years later. We know something went down at the end of summer but it takes until pretty much the end of the book to find out exactly what.

Hunter, the FMC, left at the end of that senior summer and has been in Europe ever since. Prior to her leaving, she was in a very serious relationship with Greedy and best friends with Levi. Now she’s back in South Chapel to start her college education and she’s doing everything she possibly can to keep Greedy at arm’s length. We don’t know why (until the end) but we do know that Greedy is now her step brother and she’s living in his father’s house with them.

Levi is also brought back to South Chapel due to a sports injury and enlists both Greedy and Hunter’s help to get around. This leads to a fake relationship between him and Hunter.

As you can tell from my review, there is a lot going on. Between the 3 POVs, the different timelines, and all the secrets, this book seemed to be laying a lot of the groundwork for the entire series.

I read So Wrong via audio and thought the narrators did an incredible job with each character. I can’t wait to see how Hunter’s relationship with each of her men progresses and the blow up that’s about to happen after that cliffhanger 🤯

So Wrong, book one of the Boys of South Chapel series was perfection. Anything Abby writes, I know I’m going to devour and love every moment.

After 3 years away, Hunter is back in South Chapel for a fresh start with school, but her past didn’t get the memo on the fresh start.

With Levi and Greedy back in her life, Hunter has to face some of her past. I loved the Then and Now telling of this book as it helped show how it’s always been her 🩷

The way I cried with Hunter in the ER, gasped at the country club, and screamed at the cliffhanger.

This book was absolutely flovely (iykyk)

I completely DEVOURDED this book in less than a day. I didn't know what I was expecting since this was my first book by Abby, but she has a new reader for life. The tension between Hunter and Greedy! The blooming relationship between Hunter and Levi! I was simultaneously routing for all three of them and a big group HEA.

I really enjoyed the "then" and "now" dual timelines for the story telling. It was interesting to see how they experienced certain events in the past vs how they were experiencing life now and dealing with their various traumas. I loved that the story included an anxiety rep and it was so well written. Definitely check your content warnings before diving in though.

10/10 and highly recommend. I immediately downloaded and started book two upon finishing this one.

I’m not rating because I DNF’d but I need everyone to know what my last straw was. This guy put diesel in his friend’s truck instead of gas and the fmc tells them they’ll need to get the diesel out. She helps them by, somehow in some magical way, siphoning the diesel out using RESISTANCE BANDS 💀 That’s literally impossible. And the guys are like wow how do you know so much about cars 😅😂😂😂😂 SHE DOESN’T lmao She’s all like I know cheerleaders usually don’t know anything about cars but *hair toss, not like other girls smirk* I hung out with my dad a lot as a kid and he likes to work on cars.

Idk why the author didn’t say she borrowed a hose from the gas station or asked someone nearby who she saw had something in the back of their truck they could use. There were so many options that could’ve been used and yet she went with…. Resistance bands. Those are just stretchy bands, how are they siphoning anything?????

Have I mentioned how much I hate cliff hangers?! No really though, I can see why the author ended it this way. It was the perfect place to stop to leave us wanting more. This book surprised me in a lot of ways but I could also see some portion of it coming, too. The vibes were there and it built up to some main events pretty well. The mystery at the beginning drug on a tad longer than it needed to but other than that it was pretty good.
