The purpose of this book is to enrich the faith that is already there. Christians especially will benefit from the principles and practices from the East that are universal and applicable to everyday life. The entries include stories and drawings to awaken the inner eye. Together they inform, enlighten, and even entertain.
This is a very inspirational little book, compilation of short stories through which author presents Buddhist teachings. Interestingly, author is a Christian minister but with good insight into Buddhism. He combines both religious thoughts. I read this book many times over the years and keep coming back to it in difficult moments of my life. This is by no means comprehensive view of Buddhism or Christianity, rather simplified version of much more complex matter. Something you can keep in your bag and read on a subway after very challenging day.
The structure was a hodgepodge -- easy to read in quick spurts, but harder to pick out a clear throughline. I think the author tried too hard to reconcile Hinduism and Buddhism with Christianity, sometimes misinterpreting the Bible to do so.
