I used to have such good judgment. A solid head on my shoulders. Then I met Isaac.
I'm not like most girls. I don't believe in love and I don't have time for fairy tales. People say that I'm damaged, that I'm missing something inside. They're not exactly wrong. It's dark in here. Cold. Empty. I fall apart if I think about it, so I never do. What's the point?
We are just supposed to work together, that's it. I fought hard to get where I am today and I'm not letting it slip away because of those mischievous green eyes, that cocky tilted smile, and a pair of hands that can make the world disappear. Isaac is trouble with a capital T.
He can have any girl that he wants, but he keeps chasing me. Turns out he's as twisted and broken as I am and that just makes me want him more. He tells me to let go. He promises to catch me. But no one can protect me now.
Isaac doesn't have a secret, he is a secret. We can't be together. In 30 short days, this assignment is over and we'll go our separate ways like it never happened. Why does my heart stop beating when I think about that? This doesn't mean anything. I am not in love with him. I can't be.
The detailed description is too intense for Amazon's filters! Look Inside or download the sample to see if it's too intense for you. This full length novel (120,000 words+) is only suitable for ages 18+ due to harsh language, violence, dark themes, and sexual situations.
Wow, what a nice freaking treat! I am in love with Isaac, I'm pissed at Maya for having no backbone and I'm waiting for Luke. I want to throat punch that poor excuse of a man, but before I do, I want to see where he'll take me in this story. One selfish man, a female who wants to be noticed and loved, willing to bend over backwards for it and a damaged TALENTED male who is forced to make a decision that becomes completely unavoidable. What surprised me are the ages here yet I wouldn't want it any other way! You were right Dusti, I loved it! Isaac is quite the professional, a very confused one at that.
I just don't know what to say really. I wouldn't call it dark by any means really, but there's a lot of sex . Take a plan that goes completely wrong, a crazy possessive individual with strict rules, a lonely girl wanting to please, and a damaged broken hottie who feels he's only worth one thing and mix them together creates a recipe for disaster to all involved and I can't wait!

There is so much more playing behind the scenes here and I want the answers! I'm moving on to #2, I can't wait any longer. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Phenominal that is to start with Not just your every daywork related mummy porn story this has guts with the Dom for rent, the story was gripping the characters had substance the plot was thrilling had me dreaming of the story when i finally forced myself to put it down the only thing i didnt like was going in thinking it was a stand alone to get to the extrordinary clif hanging ending desperate for mor now i have to wait. Well i am happy to follow Ember down any literary rabbit hole please dont make me wait to long
First, I loved that this was a full length novel. Second, and most important are the characters. Maya, the girl next door who's dating douchbag Luke (who deserves a swift kick in the nuts for being a grade A dick) who cheats because he's kinky but says he loves Maya. I was all WTF when we discover that not only does she tolerate his cheating, but has allowed him to set up a special month long BDSM training program so that she can be all he needs. Enter Isaac. Her trainer. From the moment they meet sparks fly and the training program pretty much goes to hell. He's got issues though, major issues. As they get to know each other they try to remember what they are there to do and why she's doing it (again, Luke needs to be castrated and have his man-card revoked) but there's too much between them. And yes, mind-blowing sex between them ensues. Once Maya sees the "program" Luke wrote for Isaac to train Maya for after he pushes too far one night she finally decides to get smart and dump Luke for Isaac. Isaac comes with baggage though, dangerous baggage (but he's worth it) and they still have an uphill battle if they want to be together safely. I absolutely cannot wait to find out what happens in the next book!!!!
I had a hard time rating this book because I didn't really enjoy it or get into it, but I could tell just how talented the writer was to have composed it. Despite almost exclusively taking place in an apartment (not unlike Sartre play No Exit), the author did make me curious (what the hell happened to this guy in his past? Who is he- underneath it all?) and string me along until the end... only to end in a cliffhanger (and not really answer any of my questions)!
Every time that the main characters almost approach a revelation, they end up having sex and not actually getting much of anywhere. This tactic was successfully used to build suspense and to string the reader along- but it was too much for me.
3.5-4 stars for a writing style that is clearly effective and well-planned, but simply not my cup of tea.
DNF!!!!! This book was like reading a revolving door. Same setting, same crying, same boring sex scenes. Same, same, same. I felt like i was trapped in the apartment as well. Couldnt there at least been a balcony?! I read to escape not feel trapped. This book had so much potential but fell flat. It was sooooo long without any new information throughout and a crazy cliffhanger. The author obviously wanted to capitalize on a series. This story could have been wrapped up since this story was so long. I skimmed through the last 30%. This book was a never ending merry go round, I couldn't take. I learned nothing of importance in the 400+ pages. No huge revelations just hints and assumptions. A waste of time. Thank goodness this was a free book. 2.5 stars.
I am truly happy I stumbled across this book. it was a great read and really good character building. totally want mean Isaac (without the sex slave trainer bit). I never wanted to put the book down because I wanted to where it was going next. I am a little disappointed that it's the first in a series. I really want to read and finish a story in one book. This book I don't mind it being a series so much since Ember would have e probably needed to leave a lot out. I thoroughly enjoyed to book.
I am not sure how to rate this one but I am scratching my head thinking WT???? have I just read?
reasons it got one star to come but its worth pointing out to Ember Chase I don't read unfinished trilogies or whatever direction this is going. Amazon doesn't state that this is part 1 of something - if they had I wouldn't have started this and I think this is why I got frustrated with this story.
I am not sure what to say about this book. When I first decided to read it I thought it was going to be quite different. The book jacket does not really give the details of the story. That being said I can't say I didn't like the book but I have buts. The book is well written and the plot is imaginative but it was missing something. You know when you eat something that looks delicious and you are waiting for it to make your taste buds come alive and then you take a bite and it tastes good but it still did not live up to what you imagined well I guess that is how I feel about this book.
The story is interesting, Maya (she is 21) is dating Luke. Luke is 34 years old and he likes kinky sex. He is also a douche a really big douche. His relationship with Maya according to him is an open one - but of course Maya does not know this - she only learns about it after being together for over a year - not to say she is perfect either because apparently she cheated on him too. But Luke's kink is really about wanting ownership - he wants to be able to share Maya with his friends and do things she does not necessary like to do (gross). Maya has issues with relationships – theses issues are not clearly delineated in the story - you learn about some them especially how she was raised and her toxic mother but I am not sure her entire attitude towards cheating could come from that - is it believable (well I guess if you read the story you can be the judge). That being said Luke talks her into a month long training program - sex training program to teach her to be what he wants her to be (really he wants to break her so she could become his stepford girlfriend). Maya wanting to maintain the relationship (I think she thinks she cannot do any better even though her friends and family except her mother despise Luke) stays with Luke. So in comes Isaac the professional sex god. Well things don't go entirely as planned because Isaac likes Maya and he cannot do the horrible things that Luke wants him to do. The training turns into a sex fest. The story goes on with Isaac and Maya boinking and boinking and boinking some more. Did I say boinking? Maybe I should say it a few more times because the boinking went on and on and on – like the energizer bunny. I guess that is where I felt a little more spice could have been added and I don't mean sex but rather more details in the plot of what is coming.
The story ends in a cliffhanger and book two I hope will explain more. This is where I get into the buts I have about this book -- but I wanted more. I wanted more information about Isaac? Why is he the way he is? Who hurt him? What is driving him? Why does he have anxiety? For Maya I want to know why her self-worth is so low. Essentially the story is vague and leaves you hanging – a bit too much. So I wish there was more explanations. I don't understand why Maya is afraid of Luke. What would he really do if she left him? She could have left him before when she found out about the cheating. So I am left with many questions – why, why and more whys. Sometimes that is the making of a good book because it makes you want to read the next one. So I will let you be the judge if you read this book. I will wait and see if I am tempted to read book two.
I read this as an ebook. I purchased it off of Amazon for about $4.
Its an Ok read, but it is a bit silly at times, shes a grown woman yet her friend makes a huge deal about where she going, after snooping about her stuff? why would a friend do this? its not as if shes a child? that irritated me a bit, i found that unrealistic and immature. Its is a decent sex novel, a lower rate version of 50 shades in some ways, I dont like how it makes women come across as if we all are submissive, that we dont like having control, its almost as if she is a pet to the millionaire!!It goes in to tortured lost soles, and a lot of crazy sex. The end is sweet, there is love and its unpredictable, its not a book for me, or that id read again. sorry.
I don't even know what to rate it. She's just so .... Stupid! And I don't understand the secrecy behind his past, what he does, how is dad or that "organization" does what it does, or how Luke plans to kill her and get away with it or whatever.
500+ pages which I'm glad because I love long books and it is a full book, but literally nothing, but back and forth and lots of sex in between. Jeebus. Nothing really happens story-wise. Some character development, but holy fuck it's long considering nothing much happened.
I found myself skipping pages and waiting to finish reading it. I felt with this one I could skip right until the end and still pick up what has happened. I wasn't even interested in reading sequel. I though plot was bland and no real depth to it. Just porn. Maya character frustrated me, how blind she was letting her boyfriend mistreat her. Not a book for me.
While reading, skipping through I kept reminding myself that in the end it would all make sense. It didn’t. Then I thought I will read some reviews to make me understand. I still don’t. But I have to say some of the reviews gave a good plot that would be great to have a book about. Unfortunately this book is so whishy washy. It feels like a first draft. Perhaps it just needed ten more writes and then it would be an angsty great read. Oh well never mind.
“If you masturbate in that shower, I’ll be able to tell,” he reminds me as I’m headed down the hallway. “Don’t flatter yourself,” I shoot back. “Strike one.” “It was worth it, Sir.”
Genuinely the worst book i’ve read in a while. Unbearably corny. Like fifty shades of gray if it was written on wattpad. The ending was also fucking atrocious.
This was my first smut book read years ago and I Love it so much! I love maya and Issac! The story line is just incredible and the smut… holy smut! 🤭 I loved Issac so much he was such a great character and the dynamic between them both was perfect. I have actually reread this book again as I love it so much.
Okay, so the plot summary is COMPLETELY MISLEADING. These two DO NOT WORK TOGETHER. This is not an office romance.
This is a D/s book with new adult characters who have pretty major f'ed up psychological issues. There's abuse in their pasts, daddy issues, people with too much money and no souls, too much sex without any self respect or respect for others.
Maya is seriously involved with her boyfriend Luke, who claims to love her, but it's pretty clear that Luke's playing at love to get power, control and sex -- super kinky submissive, humiliating sex at the expense of this woman whom he supposedly loves. Maya is supposedly so in love with Luke that she's is playing at BDSM to get love... so Luke sets her up with another dom -- a trainer of submissives -- to get her trained. Isaac is somehow "forced by his father" to train Maya on Luke's behalf and it's pretty clear from the get go that he's attracted to her and that Luke's form of BDSM may fall out of typical boundaries for that sort of thing. They have to "work together" so that she can learn to obey and be submissive, but as time goes on she seems to be realizing that she can't be the kind of submissive that Luke wants. Then again, Issac barely does anything with her and it freaks her out which makes me wonder what she had done with Luke that didn't freak her out??? Her reactions are strange, then again so is the premise of having to live with a strange man for 30 days in an apartment so that he can train her -- break her -- into submission.
These are the worst doms and subs I have ever read about. Issac is an awful dom and Maya is not submissive at all, but we're forced to watch this cluster-mind-F**K anyway because these two have perverse relationships with others that prevent them from being together. And there's two more books of this crap.
None of this BDSM stuff described in this book is healthy in any way, shape, or form. There's incestuous relationships (not blood, but legal) and it's extreme mind control, sexual and physical abuse. And everyone has a hidden agenda so it's hard to tell who is good and who is evil. I think it's what's keeping me reading. I cannot predict what is going on with these two. It's insanely hard for me to guess what's going on. So extra star for not keeping me bored.
I was extremely disappointed with this book by the time I got to the end. It took a long time for me to finish mostly because it stalled and the "middle" was soooo long. I couldn't get a good handle on the characters at all. They seemed to have conflicting characteristic and not in the good conflicted kind of way. It would have worked if the author intended them to have multiple personalities or something of that nature. Isaac : I imagine the author was trying to portray Isaac's struggle with who he wants to be, who he's forced to be and the deception he must embrace to pull it off but the 'mystery' is lost straight out of the gate. His infatuation with Maya is just to over the top and the constant face kissing but not actual kissing...well...there were times that I may or may not have vomited in my mouth a little. Maya : Then there is Maya with her supreme intelligence and photographic memory but she's a total doormat (most of the time). She sporatically has courage however it fades as quickly as it appears. There is a not-so tragic back story that is supposed to explain away her insecurities but its hard to buy into. Her venture into the D/s world just came across weird. It may have been more convincing if there'd been a better backstory about Maya and Luke's relationship. Luke : Well we don't really know anything about Luke except for Isaac's dislike of him even though Isaac continues to train Luke's subs. I love to hate a bad guy but it was hard to hate Luke without any introduction to him.
Ok, so why 2 stars instead of 1? The final quarter of the book was good. There was a real story starting to unfold, some mystery was developing but by that time I was feeling a little used. IMO ½ of the book could have been eliminated, merging the second book with the 'intro' components of this book. All in all I was so tired of reading about mushy gushy that I'm to apprehensive to purchase the second book for fear of more of the same. While the developing story got my interest it took to long for me to be invested enough to buy the next book :(
1.5 Stars This is story of Maya and Isaac. Maya is this girl next door that's been taught by her past that all men are cheaters, that's an universal rule for her and that's why when she finds out her boyfriend Luke is cheating on her she prefers to look the other way and do everything she can in order to keep him. This Luke guy is into deep BDSM shit and wants Maya to be her slave. She decides to enroll in a BDSM camp training with a "proffessional" trainor, Issac. Of course, she never expected to have this hot, funny trainor and she never really knew what Luke wanted of her. To me this book divided in 3 parts. The first chapters were really promising and I could'n stop reading it. The middle became very confusing because for a reason (I blame the writing) I couldn't connect the chapters in the timeline and I didn't know what was going on. The end was building in a promising way and then suddenly cliffhanger. Not a in a good way. There is a story behind the main charachters' relationship, there are hints of Isaac's past and of course, Luke's plans for Maya but that just never got engaged in the main story, at least not like I would've liked. It should've been more so I'll jump into the next book. Now, I'm not so sure.
Maya and Isaac are both very damaged young people who have found everything they ever wanted in each other but there are so many things holding them back from being happy. Maya's abusive, manipulative, openly cheating boyfriend who has sent her to Isaac for training to be the perfect submissive housewife that he can control and lend out to his friends. Isaac's father who has forced him to perform sexual acts with submissives and others since he was a young child. All they both crave is real love and normalcy. Something neither of them knows.
Starting out, this book was not a good reading experience for me. I couldn't relate to Maya at all because her character just seemed stuck. She was crying on almost every page. It was so hard on certain portions to distinguish the character. I was so confused sometimes I had to go back and figure out who I was reading. There were just so many things that turned me off initially but I am very happy that I saw this one to the end (cliffhanger and all).
i dont like to do bad reviews but i have to give honest ones and some might not agree but this book was so hard to read i found myself skipping pages just to get to the end , it had some erotic scenes and tbf that the only reason i gave it 2* .the female main character is the worst one ive ever came across theres being a submissive an then theres just pathetic her boyfriend cheats on her she agrees to 3 somes and some bdsm he tells her she not good enough at it an sends her to a trainer for a month and she like yeah ok cuz i dont want to loose u she knows he screwing everything engageing in some really messed up bdsm he wants her to enjoy being degraded .enter trainer hot bloke shags her into nxt week blah blah usual whole book played out in a flat i got clausaphobic for her sorry this book is not for me
Wow where do I start with this, I really was not expecting that it was such a different read and at times I loved it and others I didn't. At one point I was really confused and maya bloody confused the fuck outta me so did Isaac, but he's so HOT and the sexcapades are fucking HOT..........I thought it was written really well and I just couldn't put the book down until it was finished, I found myself shouting at maya through saying WAKE THE FUCK UP! but the bloody ending it's a cliffhanger grrrrrrrr, I really need the next to know what happens plzzzzzsz
This book was interesting I am surprised that it held my attention. The story focused on the two main characters Maya and Isaac in one setting a apartment for 95% of the book. There is lots of lots of sex which is not necessarily hot it depends how you look at it. Both have a past that you get little snippets of but not to form a real picture. They come together because Maya has come to spend a month with Isaac (the professional sex God) to be more open to her boyfriend(Luke) requirements. Both soon realise that following the set rules is going to be impossible!!!
I guess when I first started reading Denial I was expecting some raunchy sex-fest but what I found was two broken souls who have found each other in the most unusual of circumstances. insecurities and flaws abound between these two characters but it works in a way that makes you smile and root for the underdog. Kudos to Ember Chase for keeping me interested in a wonderful story line with even more wonderful characters. Can't wait to see what happens next.
It's a very interesting story. I liked it a lot. It definitely leaves you hanging but it just seemed like the story just stopped suddenly even as a cliffhanger it felt a little poorly done. 95% of the story was held in one location (inside an apartment). While reading it I felt some questions arose but were not answered and after reading the second novel in this series some of those questions were answered there, but others were brought to light, really hoping they all get answered in the final book in the series.
I don't know if loved or hated this book. There were some parts I found myself angry and disgusted with, and other parts I loved and wanted more. this book has a cliffhanger which sucks. I'm very disappointed that the second book is not out now, and won't be out for some time. By the time the next book is out I know I will have forgotten everything about this book and therefore I won't buy it.
So I've just finished this book and now I've been left open mouthed one of the best books by far I've read this up and coming year!!! I could ramble on but I don't wavy to give anything away apart from Isaac wow! Fantastic book 5 stars is not nearly enough just amazing the writing the characters and the detail I can't wait for book 2 hurry hurry ember chase
