About the author

I'm a professional photographer specializing in landscapes and nature.

I live in Mariposa, California, just outside Yosemite National Park with my wife Claudia (our son Kevin is just out of college), and have lived either in or near Yosemite since 1983.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching photography, sharing what I've learned over the years, and helping others express their photographic vision.

Beautiful little book of stunning photos of Yosemite National Park and quotes from many different authors. This quote is from Wallace Stegner "Something will have gone out of us as a people if we ever let the remaining wilderness be destroyed . . .We simply need that wild country available to us, even if we ever do more than drive to its edge and look in.

I received this book from a Goodreads Giveaway contest, and after having read it, I couldn't be happier. For such a small volume, Yosemite Meditations packs a mighty message. Each page gifts the reader with the mesmerizing words of John Muir, Henry David Thoreau, Mark Twain, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Albert Einstein, Emily Dickinson, William Wordsworth and many more and are accompanied by the poignantly beautiful photography of Michael Frye. The words or photography alone are extremely moving but combined have such an increased impact. I am deeply and incredibly moved, and will come back to this volume again and again. Yosemite Meditations is excellent, and I recommend it for everyon.

Won this book from GoodReads. This book was so amazing. The images are so captivating and peaceful. Yosemite is magical, there is no place like it. Michael did an exceptional job capturing such vivid images. There is one image that was so captivating to me. The image with the spotted owlets, if you look closely it seems like an image of a women next to the tree. Not sure if I am the only to see it. Each image was accompanied by an inspirational quote that closely resembles the image. I hope that some day I will be able to visit Yosemite and be sucked into its beauty and magic. I was so happy to have received such an amazing book. Thanks so much for making this book. I recommend you pick this book up.

Breathtakingly lovely photographs; thoughtful and inspiring quotes. Perfect for a quote-a-day, or a companion on a Yosemite trip, or even a devotional (though I doubt this was the author's intent). Quite simply, I found this book restful -- a vacation when one is unable to get away from the work desk. Received via Goodreads Giveaway.

This is a small but mighty book! There are beautiful photographs of Yosemite in all seasons. It also contains wonderful quotes from writers such as Mark Twain and Emily Dickinson. This is a wonderful addition to any library.
