Had I been in my normal nearly-sane mode I would have noticed it. Had I not been in my damn-I’m-so-exhausted-I-can’t-think-straight-I-need-to-sleep-for-three-months mode, I would have noticed it. But I didn’t.

You're wondering why I'm currently eyerolling at myself, aren't you? Here's why: this book had been on my Kindle for ages. I vaguely remembered it was about vampires and even though I’m no fangb

Stopping at 12%. Maybe I will come back later.

The writing quality is quite good and it is original but I don't really like the content. Starts with the heroine super attracted to a sexy detective and she ends up having a make out session with him. AS the book progressed, she proceeds to admire every man that crosses her path. The hero also seems to think every woman around him is totally hot, and he is only a virgin because he is not permitted to have sex -- not cuz he hasn't wanted it with OW.

So much potential. So much fail.

I'm honestly surprised this has so many 4 and 5 star reviews. Although most of them seem to have received this book for free through good reads or directly from the author.

The story telling is disjointed. Jumping scene's. The female characters are just awful. Every single one of them is riddled with insecurities but not in any compelling way.

Their POV analysis of themselves reads like a text book. Then they decide to be stupid, put themselves, their children an

For a novel I'd never heard about, it was very good and entertaining and I wanted to start my "post vacation" reviews with an enthusiastic one. The heroin is strong and witty. The hero is dark and brooding, but better than most alphas I read recently. Even if "his jaw [was] so hard she'd bet she could take a crowbar to it and never crack a smile out of him." The world building is original when you think this is an umpteenth story about vampires.

This was a great series starter. I enjoyed the characters and the fast paced plot. It was also a nice surprise that it was generously offered as a freebie. I look forward to checking out the next book.

Disclaimer: I received this book from the author as part of a R2R in the Lovers of Paranormal Goodreads group. This doesn't affect my review and the following is my honest opinion.

Wow, where to start with this one! I'm still a little overwhelmed by how fantastic The Bloodline War was From the very beginning I was captivated by the rich lore and world that Tracy Tappan created. Right off the bat the reader is introduced to one of my new favorite romance heroines, Toni. A doctor of hematology, s
Strong females, powerful men who are brought to their knees by these women, sound good? What if I added action, intrigue, a kidnapping or three, hysterical moments that make you laugh out loud, tender moments that will warm your heart and intimate moments that will cause global warming? Sound like this may be a good read? Kick in dragons, vampires and demons for good measure and what you get is Tracy Tappan’s Bloodline War and one fantastic, fresh take on paranormal romantic intrigue!

Dr. Toni Parthen is a blood specialist who occasionally assists law enforcement with homicide investigations. One night, after leaving a crime scene, she is involved in a car accident that lands her in the hospital. Then, as if things couldn’t get any worse, she is drugged and abducted by a group of men during her recovery. The leader of the group, Jacken Brun, isn’t truly a man at all, but the leader of the Varcolac -- a warrior class of vampire-like beings, who are on the edge of extinction.

When I read some of the reviews. And they were like it's better than the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I was like OMG!!! I love that series, so I must read this. My opinion is its not better, not by a long shot. But then again I hold BDB on a pedestal. Please don't misunderstand this is a great series and story. The characters are well defined and its an easy read. I wanted to know what was going to happen the whole time. I also am going to start the second book in the series. So all in all great st ...more
Tracy Tappan is a new author to me. I picked this book up because of the dark aspects of the story, it sounded interesting to me. As Tracy is a new author to me I kinda went in cautious but to my surprise this was a really good book. Lots of action, virgin males, kidnapping, evil creatures, hot sex, and an interesting story line.

The only reason I am giving it 4 instead of 5 is the author put a lot of focus on the other characters in the story, way to much for my liking. To me there just wasn't

Since the first of the year, I have read well over 100 books. They ranged from short stories to over 800 pages. They covered the entire spectrum of the romance genre. They were written by debut indie authors and best selling authors like J. R. Ward and Nora Roberts. Some were exceptional and will grace my library for decades. Some I have already forgotten. I can say with no hesitation and no qualms whatsoever that The Bloodline War is the BEST book I have read this year to date. It was soooo har ...more

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal). I started and finished this book today. I absolutely loved it! To me, it's slightly reminiscent of J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood, but I actually preferred the Varcolac to the Brothers. The women are strong, the men are hot and the action is exciting. I will definitely be looking out for the next book in this series.
Loved it! Dare I say even better than the BDB series?! Maybe. Read it!

I was given this novel in exchange for an honest review (LOP)

To start off I would just like to thank that author for sharing this novel with LOP and for writing it in general. This was an amazing novel, it had just the right amount of twists and turn to keep you on the edge of your seat without confusing the reader. The writing was also spectacular, the imagery allowed for a virtual movie to play within my mind of what life in Tarana would be like. I

Ummm, okay, what the hell just happened? I think I'm in the Twilight Zone or something! I was seriously hating the characters, like, for real! I almost quit the book! But Tracy Tappan must be a damn witch because I ended up absolutely loved this son-of-a-biscuiting book!!!!!

Toni, the heroine, was a totally awesome character. She a blood doctor and dang, she was one cool customer! At the start of the book, Toni had been pretty unlucky in love for most of her adult life but she finally agreed to g

This is one of those books that I find difficult to review because while I loved the synopsis and it started really well, the idea behind it was interesting and I appreciate its difficult to be truly original when there's just so many similar books out there but this was working well, I had a few issues along the way, I know, I know, when don't I?

This series kept coming up on my Facebook feed. It irks me to no end that Facebook puts “suggested pages” into my feed. I follow several authors but that doesn’t mean I want advertisements on my feed…but anyway, I finally looked at the series. There were all kinds of hype comparing it to BDB by J. R. Ward and other famous paranormal authors. I read some of the reviews and purchased the book.

I received this book from the author and the Lovers of Paranormal group in exchange for a honest review.

My thoughts: I debated between 2 and 3 stars, but eventually settled on 3. The storyline had no flaws in it. The only problem was the romance was a bit rushed. There needed to be more scenes between the hero and heroine. The secondary characters added to the storyline. I can definitely see a lot of sequels in the future.

What would it be like to discover that there’s an entire race of creatures, human but yet not, who live beneath your city? To awaken from a car accident to discover that you’ve been abducted by said creatures and sequestered in their top secret community? That the reason for your abduction is that you carry a unique gene that this race of not-quite-humans needs to breed into their line to ensure their very survival? And then things *really* start to get strange!

I loved this book!! "The Bloodline War" From the opening chapter, I was hooked and the amazing things is it kept getting better.. The Author, a very talented writer has created this complex and mystical world full of paranormal creatures Vampires, Demons and Dragon Women, with magical enchantments and of course romance... As a huge fan of vampire novels, I fell in love with the dark and dangerous vampires in this story, but was also thrilled that the fem

I LOVED THIS BOOK! (And boy, can Tracy write a hero!)

The story was so full of twists even from the very first chapter. I thought I knew the direction it was going, (because I have read my fair share of vampire novels), but I was completely wrong. That's what was so refreshing about this book. Also, the mythology surrounding the vampires is unlike any that I have read before, which was also refreshing.

I also like how not just the main characters were featured in the story. I learned about the liv

I found the Bloodline War in an email from one of the free Kindle book sites. The main reason I actually read it is that my friend's book club was reading it and the reviews were very favorable. I am glad that I did. I started and finished it in one sitting.

This is a stand-alone, multi-POV, steamy, paranormal romance. It was well-written, excellently plotted (very complex too), and the pacing was perfect.

I picked this up because of the awards and recognition it's received, and I was NOT disappointed. It's such a different type of vampire story, with just the right amount of ancient history and culture mixed with the modern. The different types of paranormal creatures and world they live in is set and described so well, that she could spin off tons

I bought this book because of the many readers saying how much like BDB they are. I agree. They are similar but different at the same time.

I love the vampires and the idea of a community, there are many difference between BDB and this series, I suggest people read them to find out what the differences are. I have to say I really struggled with the place names and old history wording, they are quite difficult to get my head around but I didn't let that bother me. I loved Jacken and Toni's sotry,

Tracy Tappan is a breath of fresh air. The Bloodline War was an exceptionally great read that held my attention from the first chapter!

Unlike some novels the first chapter grabs your attention and says "shut up, sit down & read. I didn't get bored, there was no putting this book down, I wanted/needed to know what was going to happen next".

If your looking for a book to spend a day lost in this should be your go too, it was simply too yummy to put down. I can't say anymore read it!

I kept seeing this series compared to J.R. Ward's "Black Dagger Brotherhood Series" (which I LOVE), so I finally decided to give it a try. As a writer myself, I don't have a lot of time to read for enjoyment, and I don't waste my time on books that don't keep my interest, but as you can tell from my rating, this one did. I really enjoyed it! It was a different twist on the vampire storyline, and quite imaginative. The characters were great, all very distinct, and you really got a good picture of ...more
