Absolutely love this Book, My parents purchased it for me as a Christmas gift in 1964. We first heard the story when it was published as a continued story in the Junior Guide which was a little church paper handed out each Sabbath when we went to Sabbath school and church. We could hardly wait for Daddy to read it to us while Mamma was putting dinner on the table after church. We helped Mamma but worked very quietly so we would not miss what he was reading. One of my little sisters was named Marta after the little girl in this story.

This is an incredible story!!! I'm surprised it is so little known. It's a very short story but a story of big faith, and how God intervened to show Himself strong on behalf of those who chose to believe.

I am trying to read all the books I've collected. I can see why a library discarded it. It is a tale of natives learning about God, and the miracles He can do. I love the history in it and am anxious to look up the real history of this small island and its volcano. Meanwhile, I'm keeping the book, hoping some grandchild in my future will find the faith manifested therein.

Read it many times. As far as I can discover the island volcano that exploded was actually Krakatoa.

Sometimes I read this book again just for the inspiration.
