Years ago found me teaching this text, and I thoroughly enjoyed every page then. Better yet, I saw the wonder light my students' eyes. Summer of 2024 found me re-reading it for the sheer joy of learning, and I was filled with awe. Open to one of the chapters, read, follow the narrative but also connect the timelines and images. You'll enjoy the experience.

Diego Velazquez is my favorite. Raphael, School of Athens, is a close second.
