This title introduces twelve species of animals that live in Alaska by using the repetitive format of the Christmas Carol, the Twelve Days of Christmas. In addition at the bottom of each page where an animal is introduced there in very small print is factual information about the species. I marveled at the three inch long wood frog that spends its winter under vegetation with their body fluids turn to sugar which freezes and thaws in the spring. Amazing

Love the Black Bear hiding on every page. Particularly day 3. Like any '12 days of ...' book it gets repetitive but outside of the song the book includes extra information about each of the animals (throughout the book) and the pictures are lovely so it's both informative and nice to look at. My sister just moved to Alaska and sent us this book so it's a great conversation starter for my toddler and I to talk about what Aunty might see while she's there.

very cute...good with the educational stuff about each of the animals listed in the book. very good for children and parents to read together. i read it to my nephew
