Fun, romantic and sexy!

Just in time for Valentines Day, Confessions of A Secret Admirer... three romantic, sexy stories from three talented authors!

1. Waiting For You by Jennifer Ryan

Waiting For You is the prequel to Ms. Ryan's new series, The McBrides. It's a second chance romance with a twist, which I enjoyed. I find that this author's stories are either hit or miss with me, and I'm happy to say this one worked. Though I struggled through the beginning which read like it belonged right in the middle of the/>Waiting/>1.
I admit, I kind of jumped on the secret admirer part of the title, not realizing these were Valentine's Day stories. They were just okay, only one of the three actually had a secret admirer who communicated anonymously. The third story was my favorite, about an awkward nerd girl with a crush on the guy across the hall of her apartment building. Listened audio-style, decent narrators.
I only read the Candis Terry and found it okay. We have a commitment shy and burnt once before hero and we have a shy heroine who really likes the hero. I find most novellas have the very difficult job of delivering a believable romance in so few a pages. I just didn't connect with the characters much I guess.

I loved this collection of short stories from three of my favorite authors. Every story either continues a successful ongoing series or leads into a new one. They all make me want to go back and read the other books.
In Waiting For you by Jennifer Ryan, Grant has returned to town and meets up with Taylor the girl he let get away. Taylor isn't happy to see Grant return but he is determined to bring her around and finally get his heart's desire. This book also introduces Rain, the heroine in

When I first saw this anthology come available for review, I immediately knew it would be a must read! I am absolutely in love with Candis Terry's Sweet series, so to see a novella by her was reason enough to snag this. I have been wanting to read books by Jennifer Ryan and Jennifer Seasons for awhile now, so to get a taste of their writing through these novellas was awesome. I will definitely be picking up their other books soon! All of these stories are cute, sweet, and have just the right amo ...more

4 stars for this anthology and five stars for SWEET FORTUNE, a Sweet, Texas novella by Candis Terry.

I’ve chosen to review only one of the three novellas, although all three are worthy of reading and make this anthology an absolute delight and a must read if you love the whole secret admirer idea but time constraints force me to choose only one. I cannot resist choosing the one that I favored the most and the winner is ….

A review copy was provided for an honest review. Confessions of a Secret Admirer Anthology has three romantic and quirky stories wrapped in one sweet book. Now normally I don't read anthologies because they're too short but I couldn't pass this one up. There are a talented trio of authors who have their novellas featured which is why I figured I'd give it a shot, and I'm very happy I did! The first short story Waiting for You by Jennifer Ryan is a cute tale about how two friends and former lover ...more

3.5 stars - I am only a an occasional contemporary romance reader but I find myself drawn to holiday themed collections and Confessions of a Secret Admirer was just the Valentine Anthology I was looking for.

Waiting for You - Jennifer Ryan - The death of her grandmother brings Taylor back to her childhood home town and back into the vicinity of Grant the man who drove her from town after the hook-up. - This was a decent enough short, that built on foundation from the years of history

Confessions of a Secret Admirer is a lovely anthology releasing just in time for Valentine's day and features three separate novellas by three seperate & amazing authors. This collection of stories will have you smiling, giggling and possibly blushing as well (I know I was!). The secret admirer theme gives these stories an interesting flare and I lord all three. Someone asked me which was my favorite if I had to choose and I couldn't decide they were all three fabulous.

So I loved all three of the novellas in this combination of stories. The first one was full of the past history we love when two people come together, people that went to school together and separated on less than good points. Loved the ending, it was very romantic :)
The second one is also apart of a series, I believe. I haven't read the series yet but I intend to now! ITs a classic, invisible girl decides to move so she can have a shot at not being invisible, and the way she goes about it

1 star - Waiting for You by Jennifer Ryan
I enjoyed this at the beginning but then the relationship between Grant and Taylor seemed very immature. There was too much headswapping and their happily ever after just came about too quickly. I'd have rather seen their story continue in Rain's book as secondary characters. Unfortunately I will not be continuing with this series.

3 stars - Sweet Fortune by Candis Terry

Waiting for You-
I didn't like Grant in the beginning. I didn't get why he was treating Taylor like he was. Asshole. My dislike continued and I just couldn't get on board.

Sweet Fortune-
Cute. Liked the humor.

Major League Crush-
Nice transformation and humor.

It's so great to read a book and be able to say "Oh my god, she's just like me!" Bertie in the last story, Major League Crush, is awkward as hell, just like me. Only difference between us is that I don't have a hot major league ball player living near me....that would be nice though, lol

3 1/2 stars total..

2 good stories 1 not so much..

Waiting For You by Jennifer Ryan. Narrated by Joanna Parker

This was a cute story of a young couple who had sex then Grant ran Taylor off, even though he knew he really loved her, then he had to wait for eight years for her to come back home. Then he had to prove to her that he really didn’t hate her, that he loved her and always had. It was a really cute short story. I really enjoyed it. I liked the secondary ch

The first two stories in this anthology were fine, though the Jennifer Ryan did get a little too corny for my taste. But, the third story, the one by Jennifer Seasons was a problem. The premise sounded great: Shy, socially-awkward comic strip creator has a crush on her hunky baseball player neighbor, there's a meet-cute, they're thrown together by circumstances, sparks fly. Unfortunately, it starts off with Bertie (the heroine) referring to her ex as "pervy" because she caught him wearing her un ...more

Waiting for You:

I didn't care for this. Too many contradictions about how well the hero and heroine know each other while also having massive misunderstandings. Also, nitpicking, but the idea of Grant seeing Taylor at her grocery store then driving to her farm/ranch and mucking stalls, brushing horses, fixing plumbing, brushing cob webs from a 20 foot high ceiling while also changing all the broken lightbulbs to then go to his home and prepare dinner for her before she arrives to dro

Health-wise, I haven’t been feeling all that ducky lately, and I’ve been falling behind on my reading. The reason I mention this is that I was browsing my kindle when I noticed Confessions of a Secret Admirer: A Valentine's Day Anthology. I remember being slightly taken aback as I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day, and it took me a moment to remember why I requested it. I’m a big fan of author Candis Terry, and sometimes anthologies can be a good introduction to different writers. Because the anthology is pretty sI’m ...more

Waiting for You by Jennifer Ryan- This is a second chance romance, and I liked that the characters have some history. Rancher Grant Devane pushed Taylor Larson away thinking he was doing the right thing and has lived with the regret. Now that Taylor is back in town he will do whatever it takes for a second chance. This was a sweet and funny, feel good romance that made me smile from ear to ear.

Sweet Fortune by Candis Terry- Over the summer I read and shared my thoughts

Three stories of romance among modern people with busy lives.

I preferred the first story in which a girl comes home to a town and finds that one guy she used to date is married with a daughter, but his brother whom she also dated is still single.

A story of a girl deciding to go out and find the right man instead of waiting for one, sounds fine but when she goes around leaving her pick secret notes it sounds like stalking, I'm afraid. Just because it's a man on the receiving end it doesn't make

I am one of those reads who actually like reading anthology books. The reason is because each story is short and while some can drag and end up being boring, there are so many of them that are wonderfully written and entertaining. I am happy to say this book is one of those! I was only familiar with two of the authors before I read this and was not in any way disappointed by either of them or by the author who I have never heard about before. Another reason to like anthology books is because it ...more

Waiting for You, Jennifer Ryan -- very cute; heroine and the smoldering brother of ex-boyfriend...
Sweet Fortune, Candis Terry -- also cute; formerly shy and retiring heroine determines no longer to be, and makes the moves on a hot deputy, who happens of course to find her just as appealing...
Major League Crush, Jennifer Seasons -- supposed geek cartoonist finds the hot athelete neighbor returns her interest; pretty fun story, all in all

I loved all three stories in this book! What great Valentine's day reads! The last story in this book had me laughing so much that my sides hurt!

The Ryan story suffered from series-itis, a neat trick since it's a prequel novella to a new series! I liked the Terry story, at first, but got annoyed how all the women who 1) weren't the heroine or 2) a former heroine were portrayed (here's a hint - not well). The Seasons story was the best of the lot for me, but the hero's dialogue was more gummy 85-year-old man than hunky baseball player.

I bought this book specifically to read Ryan's short story that is part of the McBride series. Thought it was great. Also discovered two new-to-me authors. Really enjoyed those stories too. Will definitely buy some books written by Terry and Seasons. Whether you're familiar with these three writers or just looking for someone new, I would highly recommend this book.

The first two stories in the anthology were sweet and simple. However, the last story was just terribly written. Though it's plot was a cute idea it was poorly executed and the dialogue and interactions between the two lead characters was downright terrible. Fours stars to The first two stories, twos tars to the last.
