I truly enjoyed this genre debut from Helen Boswell. Losing Enough, is not your typical cookie cutter New Adult read. Which, honestly, was like waking up in the morning and smelling that first big strong whiff of fresh brewed coffee. (yes, coffee is more important than air, in my book)

Alex is in Sin City for the summer, with her parents, looking for nothing more than some quality fun and family time. She's a bit of a free spirit, secure in who she is and where she is in her life.

At least not with this book...

After 43% not much happened.. Of course there were some events but they weren't good or interesting enough for me to keep reading.
I think after 43% only 4 days in the story passed.

Even though nearly half of the book passed there wasn't much interaction between hero and heroine. That annoyed me the most. The hero and heroine only shared a few short meetings.

The inner monologues of the MCs were overloaded on information and also uncoordinated IMO.

Losing Enough is AMAZEBALLS!

Alexis is in her early twenties, she knows what she wants to do with her life. But after going to Las Vegas for the summer, everything changes!

On her first night in Vegas, Alexis has a few drinks, and some JERK almost takes advantage of her……and here comes Connor! OH-MY-CONNOR!

Connor, is serious about his job, and doesn’t want to get close to any girl, but when he meets Alexis, he can’t stop thinking about her. But Alexis is not having any of it, when she goes to a

Alexis is on vacation in the big city of Las Vegas, ready to let loose and have some fun with her long time friend Elle, but her first night back she finds herself in trouble and her rescuer is a very reluctant private security guard named, Connor. Connor's more than rude and wants nothing to do with Alexis or her life, but he can't resist the pleas of Elle, his only real friend. Connor thinks he's done with her once he drops her off, but the world has other plans. So they throw caution to the w ...more

I had a lot going on as I read this book and even with my mind preoccupied I was able to take a lot of enjoyment from the story. It's so weird to read an NA where the love between 2 characters isn't all angsty and HERE IS WHY WE CAN'T BONE and stuff. I loved this book for that reason. Also, the characters are really honest with each other and that's big. Sure, I enjoy the angst from time to time, but this was such a change of pace from the usual plot problem that I was able to enjoy it for what ...more

ARC Review:

Ok this was a hard review for me to write because Losing Enough was so phenomenal and meant so much to me, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get the awesomeness across to y'all but I'll try.

This is more than a boy meets girl and fall in love story. This is about discovering who you really are, learning to grow with your faults and overcoming painful pasts. Throw in the fast pace Vegas lifestyle and its you've got a steamy, exciting, sexy adventurous story.

Losing Enough is definitely a mix of everything that makes New Adult such an enjoyable and popular theme among books today. There are only a handful of New Adult books and series that I truly enjoy, and I am definitely going to be adding Helen’s series to that list.

Helen takes her readers on one hell of a ride with Alexis’ and Connor’s story. One of the things that really got me interested in this book was that Helen was thinking outside the box when it came to New Adult, and gave her book a un

I had the pleasure of reading Ms. Boswell's book "Losing Enough" just shortly after it was released and I must say that I was happily surprised at just how good this book is. I have read all of Helen's books, and when I discovered that she was entering into this genre of fiction my first thought was "Oh NO! There are so many books out there like this! How will she make this book unique?" Again, happily, I loved reading this book, with its unique characters and settings.

I tried to love this, I did! But it moved like a turtle and for the entire leg of the first half it dragged! Gah!

*Yes, I am aware that this is a snail and NOT a turtle. Still couldn’t help myself from using this gif though!*

I barely got through this read and it was not because the story was bad or anything.

It’s just that, while I do appreciate build ups instead of insta-love and fast moving romances… this aspect turned out to bite me in the butt and grated on my nerves and patience.

When I found out that Helen Boswell was writing an NA novel and that it was set in Vegas, I was thrilled. I live in Las Vegas and the author nailed the details perfectly. This book isn't your typical NA, in terms of sex, they do have it but its not the sole focus. Losing Enough is more than whats out there right now. It's about real life struggles, falling in love, and learning to let go.

Alexis, Alex, is a girl some might think as spoiled because every summer she gets to vacation in Las Vegas wh

Losing Enough was recommended to me by a trusted author friend. I have always taken her advice and have never been led wrong, this is no exception. I started reading and could not stop. The 300+ pages in Losing Enough flew by, I could not get enough of Alexis and Connor.

There is no cheating and there is plenty of communication, sounds like a different type of Adult Book.
Alexis and Connor are both leery of falling in love, preferring to keep things casual. From their very first meeting it is e

I must say that I read and enjoyed Helen's YA books, so when I found out she had written an adult contemporary romance, I wasn't sure what to expect. What I didn't expect was to be swept up in a gritty, sexy, and amazing read! This book reads nothing like her other books. I must say that I think this genre feels more real to me than her others--not that I didn't love those too. But this book is AMAZING!!! It pulled me in and didn't let me go until the end. The character development was fantastic ...more

I've been a fan of Helen Boswell since I read her Mythology series (Jonathan...dibs, fyi). Losing Enough was her first cross over into Contemporary Romance genre. Her transition from paranormal was flawless. This book has it all. If you're looking for high stakes and a roller coaster ride of emotions look no further. I can't wait to see what happens next. ...more

What a great book! This is the first book I've read by Helen Boswell, but now I'll be looking into her others. The writing was perfect and the storyline was captivating. I never knew what was going to happen next.

Exciting, thrilling and sexy, Losing Enough is a new adult with some high stakes drama, and I loved it! Can I also just mention the cover? That cover is hot, and that man is phew sexy. If Connor looks anything like him...I'm all in.

With Alex, I adore her outgoing confidence that is never over the top. She knows what she wants and she's never afraid to say or do it. I like how she likes to let loose and have fun yet is also a big family girl. Family is always an important part of my life and I l

Boswell brings an exciting plot line to the new adult genre, and I enjoyed diving into Alex and Connor's stories in Losing Enough. I felt that Boswell did a wonderful job creating all of the characters in this book. Even the secondary characters were well thought out. :) Even though I had a few moments of "when are they going to get together," Boswell created awesome scenes with Alex and Connor becoming a couple. *high five Helen!* If you are longing for a new adult romance with a fresh storylin ...more

I guess this kinda counts as an DNF. I read the first half and then just skipped to the end.
This book was sooooo boring and just badly written. Nothing felt authentic and every character was over-exaggerated. The main couple went from zero to 100 very quickly and then became cheesy. I couldn't understand Connor. The author wrote him as a very grumpy loner guy (kinda unlikeable) and then we are supposed believe he is very charming with Maya. That "sweetheart" banter with Maya and his come-on line

Helen Boswell loved to get lost in the pages of a story from the time she could sound out the words. Originally from upstate New York, Helen spent much of her early adult life tromping around Buffalo, NYC, Toronto, and Las Vegas, those cities now serving as inspiration for the dark and gritty urban backdrops of her stories. An author of both urban fantasy and contemporary romance, Helen loves to r ...more
