A beautiful rhyming book about vehicles with nighttime tasks to complete around Motor Isle. The story follows many different vehicles, from the night bus to a firetruck, as they complete jobs to keep the community running smoothly. In addition to the common storybook animals (i.e. bunnies, bears, and cats), this book includes falcons, rams, giraffes, and star-nosed moles. The end pages include illustrations of the seven vehicles from the story.

Hunt’s illustrations use a cool color palette of blue, purple, and green, with occasional pops of orange and pink. There is great variety in composition with some pages highlighting one vehicle, while others show a busy traffic scene. The sounds of the vehicles are captured with onomatopoeia speech bubbles - hiss, crash, and woo-woo. Hunt creates detailed and dynamic illustrations that show all the activity going on after dark! Thank you to Flying Eye Books for a copy of The Good Night Garage. We loved the color hues and illustrations by Meg Hunt. We loved the rhythmic style of the writing and the overall layout of the book; again especially the illustrations. Will be purchasing this book as a gift for my God son.
