Figures in Fabric: The Sculpture of Lisa Lichtenfels

Rate this book
First and foremost a gallery-in-print, this book is an unprecedented exhibition of Ms Lichtenfels' work. Readers are invited to a personal tour with the artist through this exhibition, which features thirty-six of her most significant pieces in panorama, accompanied by her personal and technical notes on the creation of each of these sculptures. This astounding display is followed by Lichtenfel's photo essay, in which she demonstrates, step-by-step the process that brings into being one of her latest magnificent fabric figures. The book concludes with a twenty-year retrospective of her work, in which she shares the development of her technique from her earliest soft craft-like works through years of improvement and the creation of early significant pieces, concluding with her thoughts on future work.

This book is exceptional. Lisa Lichtenfels is a superior artist. She sculpts in fabric, yet her work is so lifelike it throws you. This is one of my favorite coffee table books. People are amazed when they look through it.
