This book is an anthology of various authors who were all at one time students of seminary professor Charles Hauser. As a collection of essays, one expects some diversity in quality, but in this case, it seems to me that the authors collectively advanced the theme of their topic, dispensationalism, very well.
To be sure, there are weak points. Who can say that any book doesn't have weak points? However, overall, I would say each author contributed high quality material. Any critics who focus on a weak point as a criticism only ignores the strong points each author contributes.
The topic, "dispensationalism," seems to be out of fashion these days. This book gives a good broad survey of many important topics within the realm of dispensational thought and in some cases provides a step forward in understanding the teaching of the Bible. In the end, I liked all the chapters, but especially Roy Beacham on literalism and Larry Pettegrew on the teaching of the Church Fathers.
The last section of the book is testimonials from students. These are of course not academic, but they are heartwarming. May we all live to have this kind of impact on the lives of those who follow.
