Robert Muchamore was born in Islington, London in 1972. He still lives there, and worked as a private investigator up until 2005 and the critically-accepted release of Maximum Security.

The Hunger Games phenomenon is part of the huge YA / Children's book explosion that has grown, thanks to the British Rat pack of YA authors, Anthony Horowitz, Robert Muchamore, Mark A. Cooper and Charlie Higson. We owe much of the hunger games sucess to authors such as Robert.

Robert was inspired to create the CHERUB series by his nephew after he complained about the lack of anything for them to read. CHERUB: The Recruit was Robert's first book and won the Red House Children's Book Award 2005 in the Older Readers Category.

Following the last book in the CHERUB series, it was revealed that a trilogy would be released starting from August 2011 that will focus on a new set of CHERUB agents centred upon Ryan Sharma and also involve an sixteen year old Lauren Adams. The first book will be called People's Republic.

Check out the Hendersons Boys series. Henderson's Boys is a series of young adult spy novels written by English author Robert Muchamore. The series follows Charles Henderson, the creator of the fictitious CHERUB organisation.
CHERUB is currently being made into a TV series.

I am such a spy junkie! I love this author so much!!! This is definitely one of my two favorite spy series.

I really gained insight into how some of the biggest criminal masterminds work. The way James and Bruce infiltrated the Mad Dogs was flawless and obviously well-planned. I couldn't put this book down once I started to read it. All of the pieces fit together and I wasn't able to find any plot holes whatsoever.

The writing. Muchamore's writing is impeccable. He described everything without making anything seem boring. Each detail was important.

The research. The moment that I was pulled into the gang conflict, I could tell that Muchamore certainly did his research. I learned about different models of guns and drugs and how the British underworld revolved.

The action and suspense all through out the books kept me on edge. It made me think of all the possible scenarios that Muchamore was going to throw at me. The re-readability level of this book is off the hook. I read it three times and I never got tired of it. Every time I read it, I got caught up in all of the gun shootings, pursuits, and missions. It's just THAT good.

Muchamore's style is one-of-a-kind and so is the originality and cleverness of the plot. You never know what's going to happen. It's going to leave you asking for more. A definite A+.

One of the best Cherub books by far, packing exhilarating action scenes, the troubles of growing up, infiltrating a gang, being involved in a British gang war. After reading the whole Cherub series 6 times not only myself but my friends who have also read the Cherub series, have easily come to the conclusion that Mad Dogs was the book that made James legendary in the sense that the book changed our vision of him from a misbehaving teenager who caught a lucky break on some missions to a serious and mature teenager who shines on missions. If I were to recommend this book to anybody, I wouldn't be recommending the book, I would say that you need to read this series in order. As that way you can fully understand the Cherub universe.

At this point in the series Muchamore is confident in his new formula. While most early Cherub books concentrated only on the mission (except for book 1, which had the recruiting and training part), nowadays we get a mixture of the mission and the agent's life at the campus. It works well, because the characters are well-drawn and it's always entertaining to follow their lives, and the missions are always intense and dangerous.

In mad dogs, James and Bruce have to infiltrate a violent gang. There's a gang war going on and another Cherub agent has been very seriously injured after being stabbed twice. It was good to see James go back to an identity he used in an earlier mission, and renew his acquaintance with Junior Moore, from book 2. It was also nice to see Bruce in action. Bruce is probably the best martial artist among James' friends, but he has not had many opportunities to shine so far.

This book, like all in the series, is well researched and quite realist in its treatment of gang violence.

After Gabrielle O'Brian gets stabbed in the back by a member of The Runts, a gang, while on a mission, Michael Hendry only wants to get revenge. But when the Ethics Committee turns down the request for him to go back to finish the mission, Michael then requests James Adams and Kyle Blueman finish the job for them. So, after days of pleading and begging, the Ethics Committee finally agrees. Then, following a horrifying attack in a school yard, James is arrested. Did James and Kyle end up getting revenge? Mad Dogs is about friends, perseverance, and revenge.

Mad Dogs covers the issue of British gangs and the intimidating threat of criminal activity that poses a threat to civilian safety. The story heavily focuses on status of street gangs and their ideology including power, territory and organised crime (specifically drug dealing in this case). This book was written in 2007 where gang crimes were notorious and a huge problem for the British Police force and government. Our main character, James Adams is now 16 and now that James is becoming older, the tones of the book have become slightly more gritty and the criminals have become more violent which fits in well with the theme of this book. The book does dive into human nature on survival as there are times where the best option is sometimes to fight back.

This is James’s 8th mission and its objective was to intercept a turf war between two major gangs in England, ‘The Slasher Boys’ and ‘The Runts’ . The story line follows after the end of Class A where Keith Moore’s gang has collapsed with the two gangs engaged in a violent conflict over the Luton underworld. Cherub’s plan is to sneak James into a football club controlled by the Mad Dogs and endeavouring to use his connections with Keith Moore to get close to Sasha, the leader of the gang. James throughout the plot shows his loyalty through raids and stealing and eventually gains the Boss’ trust.

The chapters that engrossed me the most were about the Cherubs Gabrielle O’Brien and Michael Hendry which kick started the over arching problem of the book. I found it the most thrilling part and the action kept me on edge as it developed the most tension to the story. However, afterwards I personally feel the 8th book in the CHERUB series has (unfortunately) falling short for me. The pacing felt like it dragged from specific sections in the story which diminished part of my experience. Despite the story was lacking to my taste, I didn’t hate the book and I still continue to enjoy the real world issues that Muchamore writes about in fictional way.

In this book I believe it did a greater job in exploring it’s secondary characters than our main protagonists. Although, this may be due to the case that our beloved main agents are maturing and that the author wants to investigate new attributes behind different characters. Muchamore has proven that he has a good understanding of the main figures' personalities very well. I especially like the sections concentrated upon Bruce and the antagonists such as Wheels and Junior. Including Junior, there were returning personas from one of my favourite books from Muchamore’s collection: Class A, which adds to the sense of nostalgia which I thrive upon. Through growing to love these characters and the progression of missions, this book ends the story of one of the older generations, Kyle who was the person who first recruited James to CHERUB. This was sad to see as I loved Kyle’s sassy nature yet maturity on how he acted liked an older brother to James. Nevertheless, James’ maturity level has notably changed and has become a minor, but significant pivotal moment in the series, where James interaction with his current girlfriend, Diana has become more honest and knowledgeable to admit to his mistakes unlike his past romantic relationships.

In conclusion, Muchamore has sculptured and developed both the main and secondary characters well in the 8th novel of CHERUB, encapsulating the various character’s motives and personalities. In spite of this, I felt the plot did slow down at points as it lingered to evolve to the main point reducing my enjoyment, but it did try to redeem itself with fast pace action.

My Rating: 3

Overall the whole mysterious story was well written for a mixed variety of genres. This' book target audience is for teens mainly boys, but I believe this can be enjoyed by female teenagers as well. I would definitely recommended the whole series.

This is a book you can lost in and let hours pass and is the series that started me to read again. TRULY RECOMMEND.

MAD DOGS BEWARE OF SPOILERS

I found this series through one of my friends he has been supplying me the books this is the 8th book on the series and it was really good it had just the right amount of humor, just the right amount of violence and a good amount to.

This book is a book i have read last year so im not sure if it counts but if it did it would be under the category of "a book with a male main character".Because it kind of says it but James is a boy In the story. It revolves around how he gets recruited by cherub. Then it goes through his cherub life and how he over comes different things in times of danger.

I found James very interesting because he reminds me of me hes a little bit mischievous and cunning he always has a good laugh and he sometimes does stupid things, hes also bad at school which is just like me =).But he is all and all a very good person.

My favorite quote was from when they were getting chased by some thugs one of the thugs yells out "Im going to crack your head over my knee you little bastard".But they dont catch them and this phrase has been in every book since the 3rd one I finished the series over the holidays. It was in all of them except three and there are 12 in the series.

LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE BOOK
In this book James is sent into deep cover and told that him and hes friend/fellow cherub agent have to pose as soccer players to get involved with a gang called the mad dogs. They find out what they are planing to do to this other gang, report it back to cherub command,to stop the threat before violence explodes onto the streets.

What I learnt from this book is that fighting is sometimes a good option not for the hell of it but when you need to its good to know how,not to mention when.

Mad Dogs doesn't deviate from the formula too much, but there are definite signs that Muchamore is having to work a little harder to think about the predicaments these agents are placed in as they mature.
This time round, James is brought back early from a training exercise in order to use a contact from the past to help move on a pretty dangerous mission. The agents have been enlisted to try and help police get to grip with the growing gang issue in Luton. A number of rival gangs are jockeying for top position, and the impact on the innocent people in the area is getting too much.
Gabrielle is badly injured when she is stabbed in a gang fight, but the main issue is the rivalry for power within the community. Along with our well-established characters there are a number of others who feature and help develop things further.
As always, the students of Cherub are increasingly placed in difficult situations and this provides plenty of thrills but does lead to some awkward questions. As the students get older I imagine this will become an increasing problem.

Aconselho definitivamente.

Today in my report I am going to discuss James Adams. There is a secret agency called Cherub where kids are spies. In the novel Cherub Mad Dogs by Robert Muchamores James is one of Cherubs best agents, he is very well known around the campus. I am going to interview him about his time in Cherub this year. I am deciding to interview James Adams. He is one of Cherub’s best agents and I want to know more about his missions and how he completed them. I want to know how he got to cherub and what happened to him before he got there. I prepared 10 different questions to ask James to find out more about him.

1) What is Cherub?
It is a British spy association that works with kids between the ages of 10-17. The camp is mainly made up of orphans that are taken out of orphanages and brought to the hidden Cherub campus where they will stay. Kids are used instead of adults because kids are less suspicious.

2) What did the Cherub kids do that made them have to do the punishment?
After Kazakov got knocked out, it was just James and seven trainees. There were seven of them against James, although James was a lot bigger and a third dan black belt, they managed to pin him down. They have all been through basic training so they knew the basics on how to fight. They tied him up and stole all of the food in the tent.

3) Why did the trainees do that when they knew they were going to get punished?
Training is very intense and they wanted a break. So when they saw a chance to make it better, they took their chance. They knew that Cherub couldn’t fail them because Cherub was short on agents and we needed them.

4) How sad are you that Kyle is leaving?
I’m really sad that Kyle is leaving. I have known him for such a long time. He was one of the first people that I met at Cherub. It is sad that he is going off to college but I think it is his time. Although it sucks that he is leaving before he is supposed to because he got in trouble, however we are throwing him a goodbye party.

5) How did you Bruce, Michael and Kyle take down the Mad Dogs?
First we had to infiltrate the gang. I had past connections with someone in the gang named Junior Moore. I had to gain the gangs trust by doing all of these heists. Sasha, the leader of the Mad Dogs tried to plan a drug robbery on their rival gang the slasher boys. While they were trying to rob the drugs, the police came and arrested everyone there.
6) Why did you cheat on Dana?
I know what I did was wrong, but she was the daughter of the leader of the gang. She was attractive and I was near her for a lot of the time. When it happened I forgot about Dana but then I regretted what I did moments after it happened.

7) Do the different color t-shirts have different meanings?
Yes, people on the Cherub campus wear different color t-shirts according to their rank. There are many different color t-shirts orange, red, blue, gray, navy, and black. Orange is a visitor. Red is a kid who is too young but still lives on campus. Blue is for the kids that are going through training. Gray means that you are qualified to do missions. Navy is rewarded if you do well on 1 mission. Black means you have done well on many missions. If you retire then you would wear the white t-shirt.

8) Why were you and the others chosen for the mission?
At first only Michael and Gabrielle were sent on the mission. After Gabrielle got stabbed by one of the runts Michael was really mad and wanted to get revenge. The Cherub committee wouldn’t let Michael go back. After this Michael requested that Kyle and I go and finish the mission, and the committee allowed it.

9) What happened to Norman Large?
My sister Lauren found him drunk, later he had a heart attack. He wanted Lauren to lie to the committee and say that he wasn’t drunk, Lauren says no. He tries to blackmail her by saying that he is going to kill the Cherub chair womens dog that Lauren loves. Zara Asker, the chair woman finds out about his plan and fires him from Cherub.

10) What happened to Gabrielle?
She was in the middle of a bike chase. There was one asian teenage boy about 19 years old chasing her. While she was biking her phone started ringing, she went to answer it but a car pulled out of a driveway. Before she could react, she hit into the car and went head first into the windshield without a helmet. The boy was still behind her, because she got hit, all of her strength was drained. The boy pulled out a knife and stabbed Gabrielle in the stomach, then he stabbed her again in the back.

Punchy, ludicrous, sophisticated.
Everything you'd want from a Muchamore novel! Seriously, I fucking love this series. I've found my reasons for loving it change as I've gotten older. I went through a phase when we first read book one for school where I bought it and read ahead of everyone. By the time we'd gotten to the mission of book one I'd just finished up on Maximum Security and was about to move onto the best of the series - The Killing.

Now that I'm older, I think I've done the thing everyone does where they sorta look at who they looked up to as a kid, IE James, and realise they're not the paragons you thought they were. Also, I have the displeasure of being older than him now. Hells, since I started reading these things, I have a book out. I've sort of grown up around CHERUB.

Whilst I'm no longer the target audience, Muchamore never fails to provide some quality entertainment, character development, and the best thing of all; kids that actually talk like kids. None of this prim and proper facade, sometimes, kids just need to say "fuck", and that's fucking wonderful!
Genuinely, with all sincerity, I adore these books and they always manage to pull me out of a reading slump!

Now to bankrupt myself and buy the rest of them.

5/5 any day of the week.
Good to be back on campus.

In Mad Dogs by Robert Muchamore teenage spy James is sent to a small town in England where he has to find information about the drug and gang wars by becoming part of them. He and his fellow group of spies must not blow his cover or get killed by the gangs.
James is sent on another mission after his fellow spies were critically injured. He must infiltrate a gang disguised as a soccer club and rise up through the ranks to put a stop anymore bloodshed. This job is meant for adults but with all the responsibility that James has taken he has to act like an adult or else he and the mission will die. He has to grow up fast, take on the responsibilities of an adult, while also acting as a child to not blow their cover.
I try to act as an adult as much as I can, but I don’t want to be adult. I hear adults always claiming that these are the days that they wish they could relive. I take this more seriously than most other kids who just want to grow up. Being a kid is fun and you don't have to worry as much and if you have no regrets about not having a fun childhood it can lead you on a path to become a better adult.
I would recommend this book to people who live adventure and a bit of drama. I would also recommend this to people who want to learn valuable life lessons.

This is book a of the cherub series This one is called mad dog This was actually the book cover what made me want to read this series in the beginning when I was kid I decided I wanted to read this series before going on holiday one year. But didn't know that it was only book 8. Until my mum said that I would have to start them from but one. Anyway That's a bit of background on why I wanted to start reading the cherub books when I was younger. But this book was about out gangs in Britain and we see some characters that were in class A but to come back into this book. This book it was really good. I likely saw a books. Where is about the drugs and all that? James and Bruce are the ones who go on this mission. There's a gang war going on Another agent was there but he had been stabbed a few times. It was also nice seeing junior moore in this As we haven't seen him since book two. And it was nice to see what he's been up to And to see him and James catch up as James goes back to his old identity this was a really good book. And I loved every minute of reading it.

Just keeps getting better. Almost like the "volta" point of poetry where it goes from being all fun and games to serious danger where people die, although the scene where James was beat up by Russian thugs in the snow in previous book "The Fall" was bloody not fun and games. Anyway, from this book onwards the series tells a story of danger, the characters develop a lot, and the story changes dramatically, but, judging by this book, obviously it's definitely not a series that declines in quality for whatever reason. It gets better and better and I know that there'll be many more books in the second series like this.

1.75* dnf: 147/396

edit: Lowered my rating from 2 to 1 star. THE MAIN CHARACTER IS SO FUCKING DISGUSTING. It's mentioned he cheated on his ex-girlfriend multiple times. He goes on a fake date with this girl and he talks about how fat and disgusting she is. "But it's ok because she's an asshole and has a asshole father that the group needs to get revenge on". He makes a gay joke. He yells this at his ex-girlfriend because he feels like she is giving him "attitude". "I CHEATED ON YOU BECAUSE YOU ALWAYS HAD A GIANT STICK UP YOUR ASS". That's not even the worst part because this is supposed to be an action book about fighting drug gangs and I had to read about this bullshit instead. When I skipped to the drug gang part all they did was talk and there was still no action. Don't compare this crap to Alex Rider or even H.I.V.E.

First cherub book I've read. So the first 40 pages were awesome with lots of action and it was pretty epic. Then after that there's a really stupid subplot which was weird and it did not feel relevant to the drug gangs plot at all. The main character James seems really sleazy and is also a hoe. He cheated on his ex-girlfriend a lot and apparently he likes getting hot girls. As the book went on I liked him less and less. So I skipped ahead past p.147 and I didn't really see anything cool happening. There was not much action at all past the first 40 pages, just a lot of talking. I got bored and hated a lot of the characters in this book.

Cherub Mad Dogs by Robert Muchamore is a great story for those who want to read about mystery, crime, and thrilling adventures because that's what Cherub is all about. In mission 8, James the main character along with another character, Bruce who also is part of Cherub needs to find and break up a gang that is very dangerous, this gang is called The Runts.

There's a war between the gang and Cherub because the gang has been using much violence against people in Cherub. A few Cherub agents have been stabbed and injured by this gang because they found out that they were spies. In Mad Dogs, Cherub needs to find The Runts who move locations a lot, and break it up, and put the gang members behind bars.

Cherub Mad Dogs is a great story for many people, especially those who want to be left on the edge of their seats.

This book focuses on street gang violence and is part of a series called Cherub by Robert Muchamore. Cherub is a group which sends professionally trained kids on missions and this mission revolves on two groups of cherub members splitting up and helping to solve the violence. At the start a member suffers a life threatening stab wound injury and was doubtful to even feature again. The middle involves the bombing of a clubhouse which Mad dogs (one of the gangs) plays in. The end is about how they try and rob an airport but it fails leaving them arrested with tons of gold with them
