Recently reunited and wealthy beyond their wildest dreams, newly-weds Neil and Natasha Curland are enjoying an idyllic romantic honeymoon in a modest coastal town on the sun drenched island of Crete. Exciting new business opportunities loom in America; the land of opportunity. To add to their happiness, Natasha is quietly confident that she is expecting the couple’s third child. Just a short three hour flight away, the countdown has started. A storm is brewing deep within the troubled mind of a vicious psychopath. Unbeknown to the happy couple, their lives lie directly in the path of the storm. The next few weeks and months will see the beautiful Natasha reduced to a base human being; stripped of her freedom, her dignity, and everything she holds dear. Even escape will not release her from the nightmare. If Neil is to save her, he will need every ounce of his cunning, the assistance of all his old ex-military buddies, and on the other side of the pond, he’ll need to enlist the help of the President of a wild ‘outlaw’ biker club; one of the most dangerous characters ever to draw breath! The clock is ticking, the death toll is rising!
A beautiful crisp winters day in Roermond Holland. We came across this wonderful centrepiece; an homage to books. My wife couldn't resist, so with tongue firmly in cheek another wannabe scribbler hopes to make his mark between the tomes.
Bittersweet Humiliation was an engrossing journey for me to read that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to its climactic finish. I had never read any of Boyland's previous works, but now am definitely planning to dig straight into the entire series. This novel is not for those with a soft stomach. The brutal depictions of torture and sexual degradation will leave you feeling the pain right along with the characters in the book. The characters in the book are well written and believably real. Boyland has a knack for painting his scenery with elements that jump right out of the page. All in all this is a well crafted piece of writing that bodes well in any serious reader's collection.
A viscious psychotic killer with the subtlety of a jackboot and the energy of a freight train make this Action/thriller/romance novel a can't put down read. With an Anglo American theme, a few bad boy bikers, hilarious biker banter and an exotic Latino heroine, this book has the makings of a blockbuster. If I had to compare it to previous film plots, I would say; Imagine the pace and the plot of 'Taken' mix in a little Jason Bourne, and the Anglo American humour of 'A fish called Wanda' and you are getting it! Needs to be a film for sure!
