Excellent. Absolutely excellent. This is my second Rebekah R. Ganiere book and I think I enjoyed it even more than I did the first. The story hooked me from the get go and didn't want to let me go (not even to go to work; thankfully, I won that battle). The story is incredibly interesting. I honestly haven't read many novels that involve the undead in some way or another and have always been a little wary of them (but definitel

I don’t get to read many paranormal books of late but this is so much more as it crosses a couple of genres that make the read just that little bit more engaging and original.

The plotline was a winner from the start and the characters extremely likeable, especially the main character Evaine. The world building was well executed and the author did not take the reader through complex evolvement tha

Deaders! Great twist on the zombie trope. Rebekah Ganiere's debut novel got this reader to embrace the walking dead for the first time. The romantic elements are so well drawn in this creepy, dystopian world, it draws the story miles away from the overdone "hero battles legions of zombies" plot. Can't wait to read more from this promising new author!

This is my very first time ever reading a zombie PNR I'm really trying to understand why I haven't read this type of book before. This book had it all!!! This intense, thrill, and suspense read was worth my lack of sleep and my eyes being glued to my kindle. I'm not exaggerating it was that good. Since I'm not one to give spoilers you'll just have to check it out for yourself to see what I'm talking about. Overall enjoyable and entertaining read and great start for a new series. This was a new twist on zombies for me. Evaine is more of the typical heroine of the typical book who is tore between two worlds, but otherwise I did enjoy the book. It has a very intriguing plot twists that puts the characters somewhere between a zombie and almost a vampire for me. I don't quite like the zombie term because they are not mindless, but they really aren't vampires either. In ways it reminds of the CW show. The characters have some good definition and the plot keeps you reading, so ...more

Wow... Seeing the humanity in the deaders and lack of it in the feeders. Talk about a glass half full and a glass half empty. This book kept my attention all the way through but I didn't see the ending with Tristan coming!

First let me say WOW! Dead Awakenings has its own twist on the undead.
They are not Vampire but they are not human. They are dead but not dead.
Evaine is a college student who is kind of struggling to make it through college. When I say kind of mean this: Her boyfriend/fiancé is loaded. She will not take any money from him what so ever. Not until they are married. She grew up having nothing and learning to survive on her own.
As she struggles to make rent and pay for classes she turns to a

I want to start this review by saying two things. One, the publisher of this book is my ex-publisher. While I have nothing positive to say about them, I still want to see their authors succeed. Two, paranormal books are not my thing, but I wanted to do a read and review to help the author out.

Having said that, I think people who enjoy paranormal books would really like this one. Personally, I love zombies, but t

A Paranormal romance with a twist!

You like paranormal romance stories? Try this one! A paranormal romance with a twist that you would never be expecting. I am not into zombie stories at all. And to honest when I realized that this is what the story was about I was totally regretting that I said I would do a review for the blog tour. But since I had already committed I told myself… just read it and hope for the best! I am really glad I did. This story was so well written and not your normal gross

This amazing New Adult story brought zombies to life in a whole new way. She loses everything, her memories, her future and her fiancé when she ‘dies’ during the experiment. Rescued by a crew of heroic people just like her, Evaine has challenges to face that she never con

This is a great book. Dead Awakenings gives the zombie theme of PNR a bit of a tweak and a twist and comes out as something fabulous. I really think this book could be enjoyed by people who like PNR, but not necessarily zombies.

These zombies are completely different from what we are used to. Their diet is controllable, and they have fully functioning brains. There are two factions; Deaders, who chose to control their diet and live as close to human as possible, and Feeders, who prefer to hunt a

I read a lot of paranormal & paranormal romance but typically stay away from stories with zombie themes (I'm not even a Walking Dead fan.) That being said, I loved the premise of this book. Author Rebekah R. Ganiere gives us her twist on the undead with these Deaders -- but Dead Awakenings is so much more than just a paranormal tale. It's a grab-you-and-keep-you-reading story with strong characters, steamy attractions, believable sc

A whole new breed of monster to fall for. Speaking of falling for – Luca. Well, Tristan, too. Admittedly he ticked me off a lot though.

Zombies – or as they prefer; Deaders – are still living (err… you know what I mean) basically human existences. Though th

Rebekah R Ganiere, you have outdone yourself this time!! I am a huge huge fan of her and her books and absolutely loved every single one I have read!! But this is definitely my favourite by a mile! This is such a unique concept of a story line and I have never read anything even remotely close to it! As always the writing style of the world and character building is outstanding and hooks you obsessively from the first word to the last! This novel is so full of action

Dead Awakenings is the perfect book for lovers of PNR…..and for those (like me) who don't read much of the genre. Evaine is a struggling college student who tries to make a quick buck by participating in a drug trial. She wakes up, days later, in a dirty, makeshift hospital. Next thing she knows, she's being rescued by the gorgeous Luca and taken to Haven House. Here, she learns what she is…….a Deader, her body is dead but her brain still functions…..and now she has special powers.

An enjoyable read for anyone interested in paranormal romance. Evaine is a student struggling to become an actress but she is also living a fairytale, a girl from the trailer park engaged to wealthy and handsome Tristan. Suddenly she wakes up with no memory and discovers she's undead. The reader follows Evaine as she tries to remember her old life and adjust to her new flesh eating, night dwelling world.

Ganiere gives a whole new meaning to the word undead. It's rare that I would choose a "zombie" book after seeing so many not-so-great movies involving them. Normally their characters are boring & lack what I crave, especially those whose main characters are zombies. However this book WOWed me in several instances! The lil' scientist in me was on overdrive as I attempted to piece it all together. Ganiere has major skillz when in it comes to hiding her secrets, choosing to allow us teensy snippets ...more

What an awesome premise! I really wanted to read this book after seeing the front cover and reading the back cover blurb. It was an exciting and different to the other paranormal books out there.

Strictly speaking I’d class it as New Adult fiction due to the protagonist’s age and the books contents, although I know that the whole YA/NA/Adult debate is still kind of subjective.

From a writer’s perspective, I would have liked the action to start from the get go. Chapter 1 was a little boring to me a

Then the fun begins. A strange new world, interesting characters, relationships and a storyline that progresses at the right pace.

I love zombie movies and books etc. But this is not your typical "Brains" zombie. This is an exciting new genre of zombie. To be honest zombies are so last year lol. I still
