The last thing I need is a wife. Especially if it's the one woman who can't stand me.

I'm the bad boy of the NHL. The enforcer with a mean punch and bad attitude. The ladies don't seem to mind and my stick is always ready to go. So, I have a few scandals. Who doesn't?

Everything was fine until she clicked into my life with her hot pink Barbie heels. After one too many tabloid exploits, my career is in jeopardy, and she demands I clean up my act.

I can't not say no. Even if I want to. The stakes are too great.

Turns out I'm not so good at behaving and even drag Miss Perfect into the mud when we wake up naked, hungover, and wearing matching wedding bands. But it's one problem I can fix with an easy annulment. That is, until the press and her parents come knocking on our door.

Now, we have to pretend to like each other. Wouldn't be too hard except I'm finding I like having her under my skin.

When this fake marriage gets checked, can I convince my wife I'm worth the risk?

”No more pretend. No more rules. Just us.”
I was awake until late last night reading because I needed to finish this book. I’ve been a fan of Melissa's since her first book, Forbidden Devil. She's grown exponentially since then, and she keeps getting better and better.
Until yesterday, Forbidden Devil was my favorite book of hers. Just as Lincoln was my favorite hero, and my favorite Devil.
Cue Rhett Remington.

”I know I’m a grown ass woman who doesn’t need a man to satisfy her and yet I’ve been reduced to a squirming puddle of need by a fucking wink.”
I’m going to start with Lucy. Despite her preference for pink (hey, I’m a black and purple girl!), she’s amazing. I knew she was strong from the previous book in the series, but I loved getting to know her better. She comes from money, but everything she has, she got it on her own. By fighting for it, and by giving it her all. And let’s not forget she keeps a whole team of players in line, and that takes (figurative) balls!

”His full smile also explodes ovaries. It’s no wonder he frowns most of the time..
Rhett… He is the perfect mix of grumpy AF, sexy as you can’t imagine, and swoony. He's a freaking sex god, with a possessive, dominating side that got me all hot and bothered, but it’s the layers he has that really get to you. Underneath that (perfect) exterior is a man who needs to be loved for who he is, and who he is is pretty awesome.

”I’m not nearly done with you yet, and I don’t let anyone touch what’s mine.”
When Lucy goes to Vegas to once again try to salvage Rhett’s career, he challenges her to a drink. Next thing you know, they’re waking up together, with no memory of what happened and… married. Lucy didn’t want it. Rhett surely didn’t either. Did they?
And yet, here we are. Once it becomes obvious they have more to gain by staying married, they put on a show for everyone.
The thing is… it may not be a show after all.

”He knew the little bit of darkness that lived deep in my soul, and he brought it to the surface and caressed me with his.”
I loved the tension between them, the chemistry they have, the attraction. It’s all over this book.  And once they need to sleep in the same room together, well, that tension escalates to something unbearable… unbearably sexy, that is. Melissa can write some freaking hot sex scenes (and I was all in for all of it), so yeah, that was definitely interesting.

”She’s everything. My world. My hopes. My dreams.”
We get to know them both, and that's what stole the show for me. They're both bent out of shape, in different ways. Trusting doesn't come easy for them. They don't feel like they belong anywhere, especially Rhett, because no one ever cared enough.
When they grow closer, trusting their feelings for each other isn't easy, because they haven't had them before. It's a journey that will teach them just how much they're both worth.

I loved the other players. I absolutely laughed out loud at Rhett and Tag and their banter. And Foster's book seems interesting already… I have a thing for British accents. Sorry, not sorry.

I did notice the nod to KM Rives and The Replacement, and the mention of Lucy reading smut, and Rhett reading her book was so cool! Loved it!

”You’re the fucking stars on a dark night and without you, I’m simply lost.”
This was a book I needed to read, because I share some stuff with Rhett. Regardless of what people think or say about you, how fucked up your past was or your present is, everyone deserves a chance at happiness.
Sometimes you can belong to more than a place. You can belong to a person, because love can heal you, if you let it. And that was what made this book great to me.

P. S. One pet peeve of mine... I wish the epilogue was still about Lucy and Rhett instead of Foster and the next book in the series. There is, however, a bonus epilogue for the book that is about them.

I love a good hockey romance. After going on tik tok ( I swear I am trying to leave book tok and it keeps showing up, ) I fell upon this book, and I was very excited. My concern is fell flat and has a few missing holes in the plot.

Now don’t get me wrong, I always say my three-star read could be your five stars. I did like the banter and the broody hockey player, plus with a strong heroine.

My concern is as much as I liked the Bantu between the two, it seemed to drag at the 65% I sow its dnf’d. I pushed through and was happy I did.

Without any spoilers, there is one part of the plot the MC never got to the bottom of it. It’s seems glanced over—Lucy’s job. Yes, with the most current event, I can see why it’s a problem, but there is more of a back story without giving us one.

Overall it was an okay read. I just didn’t love it.

“Which leads us into rule number three; don’t go falling in love with me, sweetheart. I’m not a project you can fix, and I don’t believe in happy endings.”

Rhett Remington already has a bad reputation for being hotheaded and a certified playboy and the responsibility of correcting his image is bestowed upon Lucy Hurst his hockey team's PR manager who he can't stop thinking about. One uncontrollable night full of drinking in Vegas and the next thing Lucy & Rhett wake up is to find themselves married having no recollection of the incident. Needless to say these two weren't the biggest fans of each other and wanted to get the marriage annulled but when the word gets out, it seems impossible for them to get out of the sham. This is pretty much an accidental marriage turned into a marriage of convenience. I loved Rhett & Lucy's chemistry. I loved the side characters, at first Rhett wasn't at all friendly with his teammates but all of them grew on me especially Tag & Foster. My only complaint is about the epilogue. I wanted to see more of Lucy & Rhett's future but unfortunately the epilogue was the POV of his sister Avery. I was bummed when they got such an abrupt ending. Hope to see them again in the next few books coming up in this series though.

This newest book in this series is...fire! Rhett and Lucy are so great together. The sexual chemistry that they shared was enough to melt the ice. Romance readers who love a good enemies to lovers troupe will want to pick up a copy of this book.

Besides the attraction between these two, it was also the witty banter and Rhett's rough around the edges attitude that got me hooked. If I woke up to find that I was married to someone, I would not mind it being someone like Rhett. Additionally, it was nice to see the players in action a bit with some skating being featured. What is a sports romance without some of the sport. Plus, I am a sucker for a hockey player. Broody Devil is just what I need to keep the temperatures hot during the winter months!

5 Rhett and Lucy Stars

This was an addictive, adorable, funny, sexy and at times heart wrenching sports romance. I have been in a bit of a slump so this was a gorgeous read that had me thinking about the characters and also completely invested in the story even when my kindle was off.

If you enjoy sports romance and / or the grumpy -sunshine trope and /or fake relationship trope , then I highly recommend this novel. Actually , I highly recommend it anyway - it's a great contemporary romance book.

Rhett (28) has been sent to the Nashville Devils Ice Hockey Team after getting into trouble at his old team in Los Angeles. He has a reputation as a moody, bad tempered guy who isolates himself from people. Lucy (27) is the PR/ Media person for the team and everyone likes her. She's sweet, funny and kind but I absolutely loved the way Rhett brought out her inner snark. Some heroines can be overly saccharine but this author has got the balance spot on with Lucy. These two are opposites but they are so utterly perfect together. When they wake up in Vegas, married with no recollection of events, they are horrified. Once they get past the initial shock, they agree to stay 'married' for a short period to have some kind of damage control and to stop the situation wrecking Rhett's career and Lucy's dad's business. Watching them fall in love was pure kindle nirvana. Our Hero slowly thaws and it was a sight to behold.

“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone you married me for my body.”
I groan and cover my face with my hands. “You’re the worst.”
“Am I wrong?” He grins, and those damn dimples are going to be the end of me.
“It certainly wasn’t for your sunny disposition.”
He laughs, a real, genuine laugh and sits down beside me, prying my hands loose from the armrest and putting my purse under the chair in front of me. “I married you despite yours.”

I loved when Lucy catches him reading...

I realize what he's reading. A special edition signed copy of my favorite vampire smut—one that’s crawling with page after page of dirty vampire sex.
“Oh my God, stop reading that book!”
He clutches it to his chest and gasps.
“This is my new favorite book. It’s giving me lots of ideas.” Rhett bookmarks the page with an actual bookmark (I couldn’t be more proud) and smirks. “I didn’t know you were such a dirty girl.”

The camaraderie between the characters is well written and it's easy to picture them all interacting. I hadn't read the other books in the series but it works as a solid standalone. I have lined up the other books to read.

HEA? Yes - great grovel. Fab ending and you can sign up for a bonus epilogue.
Cheating? No
Be aware

Decent length read - just over 400 pages on my Kindle. Available on Kindle Unlimited.

Damn… this book…
Honestly.. this is one of my favourite reads of the year so far and probably ever.
Melissa Ivers does what she does best, but I feel like even she excelled her usual excellent standards with this book. It’s hands down my favourite Devils book in the series so far.

Lucy Hurst has a body made for sin, and I’ve always loved being a sinner.

Rhett and Lucy find themselves accidentally married after a night in Vegas. This mysterious catalyst (or is it fate??) launches them down the path of having to fake their marriage for reasons I’ll let you discover by reading.

She can be the ray of light in my darkness, just for tonight. I’ll try to hate her tomorrow.

Rhett lives up to the book title perfectly. Broody, moody, carrying around baggage upon baggage, but he also has a heart of gold, is wicked as sin, dominant, possessive in all the best ways. I couldn’t help but fall head over heals for him. He made me hurt so bad with things he was dealing with, and I was so there to witness his evolution through this book.
Lucy was a strong, likeable heroine. Usually for me, the heroines don’t factor into my love of a book as much as the heroes (yeah I know.. so sue me) but I loved her. She wasn’t afraid to go toe to toe with Rhett and she was absolutely just what he needed.

I can’t even talk about those things that she calls panties. I don’t give a fuck what anyone says. Those damn things are worse than nothing at all. They give you the sweetest glimpse of her perfect ass cheeks and drive you so fucking mad you want to rip them in half like a fucking animal. Fucking nightgown. Fucking Lucy. Fuck my life.

Together the have SO much tension and heat, their chemistry was just undeniable, and seeing them come together (no pun intended) was the stuff of dreams!

The pink terrorist that is my wife has me under her spell. Now I need to break it before we’re both ruined.

Another big thing I love about sports romance done right is the fact that you get a whole cast of supporting characters because of the teammates. This was another major tick in my love of this book. We got to hang out with Linc and Tag again, and got to see a lot more of Foster who was absolutely hilarious. Their banter was just one of my favourite things!

This book just hit every note for me. It had chemistry, love, laughs, it breaks your heart and puts it back together in the way only Melissa can.
I honestly loved reading every second of this and couldn’t put it down. I cannot wait for book 4 after that epilogue too!!
Highly recommended!

Do you love angsty incredible hockey players? Well look no further, this is the book for you!!! Rhett is everything you didn’t know you needed! He is amazing, grumpy and hot as all heck! This book is absolutely fantastic!!! Rhett and Lucy are everything! I love this story soooo much.

I have adored Lucy since we first met her in book one of this series. She is incredible, fierce and kills it at her job. Not much rattles Lucy, except her new husband, Rhett! Rhett I have been dying for his story so badly. He is a broody, dark, and wicked misunderstood! What a guy! He brings the heat, the angst and the fire in this book!

Melissa’s writing is incredible! She will give you all the feels. Her writing is steamy, fun and everything you want from an incredible sports romance steamy book! This is definitely my favorite book in the series so far! All the books are incredible but Rhett brings his A game in this story! A must devour read!

Y’all…I loved this book so damn much! Even being sick did not slow me down reading this book. That’s how much I loved it! Everything from the story, to the characters, to their banter was exactly what I wanted and needed out of this book.

I’ve loved Lucy’s character from the first time that we were introduced to her. She’s independent, fierce, and damn good at her job. Now I will admit that I originally wanted to see her with a certain Devil’s owner, but boy oh boy am I glad that she ended up with Rhett. Lucy is seriously the perfect sunshine to Rhett’s grumpy. Not to sound cheesy or anything, but Lucy brought light into Rhett’s life when he needed it the most. She was exactly what he needed, even if things didn’t start in the most traditional way.

Speaking of my dear broody boy Rhett, this book could not have been better titled. Now I will be the first to admit that I have a soft spot for the asshole alpha in books, so it’s no surprise that I was interested in Rhett from the beginning, but he still had to win me over. But he had already started to wiggle his way into my heart by the end of chapter 8 and by the time we get to chapter 18 I’m a goner and Rhett has completely won my heart. What this man has dealt with in his past and what he continues to deal with, it’s no wonder he is the way he is. I just wanted to climb him like a spider monkey and then wrap myself around him life a blanket and not let go until everything was all better. I think…I think Rhett may be my favorite Devil. Shhhhh, don’t tell the other guys because I still love them too, but Rhett holds a special place in my heart.

In all honesty Ivers has yet to write a book that I haven’t loved, so I went into this one fully expecting to love every minute of it, and I was not disappointed. So get comfy and prepare for some heart tugging emotion, actual laugh out loud moments, and some seriously hot and steamy scenes.

5 Star Review of Broody Devil (Nashville Devils #3) by Melissa Ivers
Melissa Ivers is a relatively new author to me but each book that I have read I have thoroughly enjoyed. From the first chapter I was fully invested in Lucy and bad boy Rhett’s story.
From the moment they meet there is intense chemistry as well as frustration and animosity. Although this is book three in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. Although I recommend you one click all the books as this is a great series.
There were moments whilst reading that really tugged at my heart, times where I laughed out loud and times when I swooned. Broody Devil was an entertaining read that ticked all the boxes for me. I loved how feisty and successful Lucy was. She was focused and driven and I admired that about her. She brings light to the darkness that is Rhett’s grumpy life, something he didn’t feel he deserved.
This was a great story, the characters were easy to relate to. One click this little gem, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Melissa Ivers Nashville Devils bk 03 Broody Devil

No More Rules

Rhett Remington definitely lives up to the book title, being as broody as one can without inciting a brawl every time his mouth opens. I oscillated between liking and hating the broody bas**rd. 😄

As for Lucille "Lucy" Hurst, she's been around the series since book one. If you've read from the beginning, it won't be surprising that she's fierce and doesn't back down from much. While that remains the case, I like that we get to see behind her walls.

Four months. I could do that.... Right? That’s four months to fix his image. Four months of pretending to be husband and wife. We can do it. We can figure out how to tolerate each other to make this sham look believable.

Assuming we don’t kill each other first.

-- Lucy Hurst

Perhaps the best parts of this book are the friendships that Rhett unintentionally develops with the team. Despite his best efforts, they worm their way in. The banter and support, quiet and loud, are highly entertaining.

Of course, Lucy and Rhett breaking all their rules brings about another kind of delight. 🔥🥵

There are some content warnings. The most notable is child abuse that continues into adulthood. There are flashbacks to some events, and the general mood of those years is conveyed. Plus, verbal abuse is shown on several occasions.

Prior reading isn't necessary. That said, characters from past and future series books are present. I suspect that we also meet a few folks for a future series, but I haven't confirmed it.

I read along with the audio book. The narrators, Monica King and Chris Chambers, do a good job. Although, I do wish it was a duet so that accents and overall character tone were consistent.

Story: 4.5 stars
Narration: 4 stars
Listening Speed: 1.8x

Charge your vibrators, ladies! Rhett is in the building. Hot damn. What a hero. This gruff and grumpy asshat was bound to be my favorite, but when we got a glimpse of his soft underbelly? Yup. My ovaries exploded like fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Accidental marriage isn't my favorite trope, but I loved this book. It's excellently written, has great character development, and the only problem was I had to keep putting it down to adult and didn't want to.

I loved Lucy and Rhett!

Oh my goodness this book was SO freaking good!! I'm such a sucker for fake romances, and this one just hit alllllll my buttons. Growly Rhett, the insane tension and chemistry between him and Lucy, the emotions and heat, it was all just top notch from start to finish!

So full disclosure I haven't read the first two books in the series yet, but I'm definitely going to now! From the very beginning, Rhett stole my heart -- even if that beast of a man grunts/growls instead of using actual words. Plus we all know he's trying too hard to hate our girl Lucy, when he had such a soft spot for her.(or hard, depending on how you look at it. *winks*) after getting wasted in Vegas, these two end up married and in order to save Rhetts career and maintain her own, Lucy suggests they stay married. And of course they have aisr of rules to follow so this stays a strictly business relationship. Absolutely soft touches, heated looks, adoring kisses. And no love whatsoever. What could go wrong?

Again, I just loved these two so much! Rhetts self deprication broke me every single time, and I just wanted to shake him so he could realize exactly what he had in front of him. And Lucy, goodness that girl is strong and I loved how she broke down his walls without even trying. Plus he made her feel something she thought she would never have: a passionate love she would do anything for..

I could go on and on about my love for these two, but just know this is one of the best sport romances I've read in so long! I can't wait for you all to read it! This is the ultimate grumpy to sunshine, fake relationship with every single feel possible. Also, you might need a new pair of panties. 😉

I'm so excited for Avery and a certain British bad boys book next!!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions**

The banter 😂😍 4.5⭐️

Rhett is in serious need of an image makeover and his current hockey teams PR rep takes her job very seriously. When he wakes up in Vegas married to her, they make the best of their situation and use it to clean up his image. Lucy never wanted to be in this situation with him of all people but now that she is, she’s not sure how to feel. Maybe there’s more to him than meets the eye.

THE BANTER 😂 And Rhett’s character overall is so funny. The shit that goes on in his head! He seems like an ass hole but deep down he has a heart of gold.. he just has some baggage he needs to deal with.

Lucy.. I love her obsession with a certain color.. And especially how Rhett deals with it! 😂 She’s seriously such a badass. I love that she gives as good as she gets with him and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. They’re such a great match!

I cannot wait for Foster’s story!!

oooooooooooooooooookay 😍🔥😅
I couldn't put this book down and I'm shocked. Why? I literally couldn't tell you because it has almost all of my favorite things.

GENRE: sports romance.
TROPES: forced proximity. enemies to lovers. grumpy/sunshine. accidental/fake marriage.
POV: dual.
TW: physical and mental abuse. (not by H)
CLIFFHANGER: no!
HEA:

First, this starts off with Rhett and Lucy waking up in bed and noticing that they're both wearing wedding rings. What I wouldn't give to wake up next to a tall, dark, and tattooed man. Specifically a grumpy hockey player. WHAT I WOULDN'T GIVEEEEE. But with Lucy being a PR rep for Rhett's hockey team and Rhett needing to clean up his image, they decide to stay married. Not only that, but they decide to set some ground rules. No sex and no falling in love. Like that famous evil doctor once said.... riiiiiiiiiiiiiggghhhhht.😏

Secondly, sports romance? Throw in the fact that it's hockey and I am HOOKED And we got to see Rhett actually play, which is nice. I LOVED seeing the ice around his heart thaw. How he gradually let his teammates in.. even though Foster, Tag and the guys definitely forced themselves into his life and it was hilarious to watch.

Rhett Remington is just such a broody bastard and I am so here for it and only because Lucy Hurst is such a sassy heroine and gives as good as she gets. The banter and tension between these two is written so well, you can feel it. And the cherry on top is this man a true possessive alpha-hole in and out of the bedroom 🥰 These two were great together and great FOR each other. Their personal growth was amazing to watch.

I regret that I read this book first and not bookone and book two because I would have loved to have met Tag, Elle, Lincoln and Jazz beforehand, BUT it didn't take away from the story. Now I'll totally go back and read their stories.

I am SO EXCITED for Avery and Foster's story because Foster was my favorite pain in the ass in this whole book. I'm honestly excited in general that I found Melissa Ivers and her books. Can't wait to read them all.

Rhett and Lucy have my whole heart!

Rhett Remington and Lucy Hurst are total opposites, and most of the time, they’re barely civil. But when they wake up in Vegas one morning with rings on their left hands, everything changes for them both. Lucy’s family can’t handle the bad press, and to be honest, Rhett can’t take any more strain on his reputation either.

To save both their reputations, Lucy and Rhett decide to stay married (at least for a little while) and agree to some ground rules. But as they spend more time together, the lines get more and more blurred, and the marriage starts to feel all too real. Rhett is damaged, and Lucy’s had more than her own fair share of pain… but can they find solace in each other?

Holy. Freaking. Hell. I’ve loved every single book in the Nashville Devils series, but this one is by far my favorite!!! Lucy and Rhett are truly special, and I loved loved loved watching their relationship develop over the course of the novel. This book had all the best laugh out loud moments with the perfect amount of angst.

Rhett. He thinks he’s broken beyond repair, but I don’t think that’s true. I think behind his standoffishly broody exterior he cares a lot, especially for those he’s close to. He’s also my favorite of the Devil boys so far!!! Lucy. She’s a sweetheart, and I loved that she didn’t put up with any of Rhett’s obnoxious behavior. She’s got fire in her, and I respect the hell out of her for it!!!

This book was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend!!!

Bad boy meets good girl and everybody has daddy issues? SIGN. ME. UP.

Broody Devil is a steam and tension filled contemporary sports romance between a Hockey teams PR rep and the teams worst PR nightmare.

Lucy and Rhett could not be more different but watching them figure it out was fantastic and experiencing Rhett’s dirty mouth is a must.

There were parts of this where I felt the pacing was a little off, but overall it was a fun and entertaining read and I can’t wait to read about the rest of the devils!

Rhett and Lucy were AMAZING! Love me a what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas book! These two were so much fun. I loved their push and pull, their banter, and that Lucy didn't take any of Rhett's shit. I loved how loyal Rhett was, how he was a silent hero for all those he loved. They were pure fire in every way. Grumpy/sunshine greatness with the perfect amount of steam. Loved these two so hard. I am loving the Devils.

Wow! Rhett Remington brings all the spice and more broodiness than ever in this third book of the Nashville Devils series.

Lucy and Rhett definitely had a hate at first sight moment. He had just been traded to a new hockey team for fighting and she was tasked with cleaning up him image. He loved to push her buttons and she was not going to be deterred from the challenge.

Fast forward to Vegas when they wake up married with no memory of how it happened. They decide to stay married for reasons that benefit them both. While their marriage starts off fake circumstances arise that force them to become closer. They begin to form a real relationship but Rhett’s past keeps him from opening up and allowing himself anything good in his life.

Will this fake marriage crash and burn? Or will real feelings be developed? Was it hate at first sight…or love at first hate?

The perfect relationship of convenience/fake marriage book!

Rhett Remington is magnificent

Oh Melissa Ivers, BROODY DEVIL has just become my favourite book in the Nashville Devils series. I mean, who on earth can ignore Rhett Remington. He is absolutely amazing. Yes, he can be a grumpy, moody, temperamental man, yet I couldn't help being drawn to him. Lucy Hurst is a pink, sassy, strong woman, who every other woman just wants to be. She certainly knows how to control those rowdy hockey boys and keep them in line. Put them together and you have an explosive, hot and schmexy story.

"Lucy Hurst has a body made for sin, and I've always loved being a sinner."

Lucy works for the Nashville Devil, she's the one who spins the PR so that the players look good. Rhett is skating on thin ice after being traded by another team, any more bad publicity and he could find himself as a player without as team. When Lucy is asked to go to Vegas to once again try and save Rhett's career, little did she realise that when she left Vegas she would be married ... to Rhett. Neither want nor need marriage, however they soon realise that it could possibly work to their advantage. How hard could it be to pull off, surely they can convince everyone it's real? Or do they need to convince themselves that there is more going on than they expected?

"You look like a walking sex advertisement."
"And you, sweetheart. You look like a wet dream come true."

Both Lucy and Rhett are made up of multiple layers. The more time they spend together, the more the layers are peeled back. I adored how they were both there to support each other. Even though Rhett tried to prevent Lucy from learning everything about him, I loved her tenacity to keep digging deeper to find the real Rhett. I admired his need to protect himself and those around him, they didn't need to know his past ugliness. There's no denying the attraction and chemistry that existed between them from the beginning, and the fact that they both want each other ... but rules are rules. When they do finally get together my heart just melted. The schmexy between them is unbelievably HOT, but it's also how Rhett is able to let Lucy know just what she has come to mean to him ... actions speak louder than words.

"She's everything. My world. My hopes. My dreams."

I love the interaction Rhett had with the other Devils, especially the camaraderie he had with Tag. OMG, talk about making me laugh, these two men had some hilarious banter and moments between them. I was so pleased to get some on ice hockey action too, that just made my day. I love how Melissa allows her previous characters have some wonderful scenes in this book. I'm looking forward to Foster's book, he was just a laugh a minute.

"I'm not nearly done with you yet, and I don't let anyone touch what's mine."

Rhett and Lucy's story was simply sublime. It was an emotional journey of learning to love yourself and being able to accept help from others in order to find your own peace and happiness. Melissa's words captured my heart from the very beginning and wouldn't let me go. Rhett is magnificent, and I dare you not to fall in love with him.

Professional hockey player Rhett Remington was happily living and playing in Los Angeles until a fight with a teammate got him blacklisted from the organization and almost every other team in the league. The Nashville Devils took a chance and traded for him, but he's made no secret of the fact that he's not happy to be there. He refuses to follow the rules and can't seem to stop generating bad press wherever he goes. His latest act of rebellion finds him hanging out in a Las Vegas strip club, where team PR liaison Lucy Hurst tracks him down. Rhett challenges Lucy to have a drink with him, and it's the last thing either of them remembers until the next morning, when they wake up in bed together wearing wedding rings. News of their nuptials is already going viral, so Lucy convinces Rhett that they should stay married until the end of the hockey season to save both of their careers. Forced to move in together and fake a happy marriage, will these two opposites end up killing each other before the season is over...or kissing each other instead?

The chemistry between Rhett and Lucy was absolute FIRE from the very first chapter, though it took quite a while for either of them to admit that they found the other attractive. I particularly enjoyed the way they teased each other with their clothing (or lack thereof) when they were at home alone. It really intensified the slow burn tension and had me on the edge of my seat waiting for them to finally act on their feelings. Given Rhett's early behavior, I didn't expect to like him as much as I did, but there were many layers to his character. Every time I thought I understood him, something new would be revealed, and I couldn't help but empathize with everything he went through. He and Lucy both deserved to find some happiness, and it was easy for me to cheer them on to their HEA.

Overall, I loved "Broody Devil" and highly recommend it for all contemporary/sports romance fans. (One caveat: a few of the steamy scenes went a bit beyond my personal comfort zone, but that is obviously highly subjective, and there are plenty of readers who will absolutely love that aspect of the story.) I look forward to picking up the next book in the series, hopefully featuring Rhett's sister Avery and teammate Foster.

Who dosen't love a fun and sexy sports romance with a hot, moody NHL hockey player and a sassy, sunshine woman who can bring him to his knees....

I knew immediately that I was going to enjoy this story from the very first chapter. Melissa truly outdid herself with this one. It’s a light and funny romance with so much depth, chemistry, and heartfelt moments that I never wanted to put it down....

Rhett Remington has got to be one of my all-time favorite romance heroes - he's trouble with a capital T and an anti-hero who has a heart of gold buried beneath his gruff exterior. He's arrogant, cocky, and may be a bit of a jerk...but, you’ll fall in love with this Broody Devil anyway....

Confident, beautiful, patient, and smart, Lucy Hurst is a ball-busting PR powerhouse and the perfect heroine to tame bad boy Rhett. I loved how she was able to stand up to Rhett, call him out on his BS, and push him into being a better version of himself. She may be all sunshine and unicorns but, she’s one tough cookie...

This enemies to lovers sports romance was just so fun, steamy, and entertaining that I never wanted it to end! Melissa always brings characters that make me smile and fall in love with. The women are strong, independent, and take no crap. The men are sweet for their women and go all in. I absolutely loved Rhett and Lucy. This series just keeps getting better with every release. I can’t get enough of these Devils!

Also, I just gotta say that you can’t help but love a sexy as hell man who walks around in his sweatpants hung low, showing off his "sex lines" all the time. We should all be so lucky 😉🔥

I loved this story, and it was another amazing addition to this incredible series! If you’re looking for a hockey romance with heat, heart, and just the right amount of angst, pick this one up.

Sports Romance. Marriage of Convenience. Forced Proximity. Grumpy Hero + Sassy Heroine. You really can’t go wrong here. Book 3 in the Nashville Devils series, “Broody Devil” tells the story about the newly added scandalous hockey player, Rhett Remington, and the PR manager for the Nashville Devils hockey team, Lucy Hurst. The two of them accidentally get married in Las Vegas, but instead of getting an annulment, they figure that if they remain married, they can score goals in their professional and personal life.

Melissa brings on some serious angst and she goes the extra mile in this one. The dual POV shows clearly how both Lucy and Rhett beautifully (and somewhat humorously) pine for each other. Their sexual chemistry heats up the pages, leaving this reader feeling weak at the knees.

Putting aside all the steamy scenes, however, the story goes a bit deeper as we delve into Rhett’s abusive upbringing by his father, as well as Lucy’s estranged relationship with her father who would prefer to be more controlling in her career choices. It was lovely to watch these two supportive and accepting of each other. And even though it took Rhett longer to get there, I liked seeing him become more vulnerable not only with Lucy but also with his fellow hockey bros. (Bromance adds flavour to any story in my opinion.)

It’s always great to connect with characters in a series, isn’t it? Like most fans, I actually thought Melissa was going to bring Lucy and Gordon (team owner) together. With that said, I hope the series doesn’t end here coz I do think that he deserves a HEA and I’d be there for it.

Thanks to the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Rhett Remington has just been transferred to play for the Devils after getting into a fight got him kicked off his previous team. He is angry, doesn’t want to be there and is already causing trouble in Nashville.

Lucy Hurst is the PR rep for the Devils and it is her job to clean up Rhetts imagine. Which is proving difficult and Rhett wont listen to anything she says. Lucy flies to Vegas to rescue him from his latest stunt and finds him in a gentlemen’s club. The next morning she wakes up naked in bed with him and neither of them have any memory from the previous night.

If waking up naked together with no memory wasn’t bad enough, they soon realise they got married and somehow the press has already gotten wind of it. As one last effort to improve Rhett imagine in the media and make sure he can continue to play Hockey, Lucy suggests they stay married until the season is over.

As soon as i met Rhett at the end of book 2 I knew I was going to love him!! There is just something about a broody man who pretends to hate the world that i love reading about. Like why is him grunting as a response so damn hot?? (fire/hot emoji) He acts cold and like he doesn’t care about anyone, but really everything he does is because he cares too much about everyone else and not enough about himself.
I loved Lucy from the moment we meet her in book 1!! She’s independent, bada$$ and can boss around a hockey team of men while wearing a pink dress and high heels!!

Seriously loved this book! I didn't want to put it down!

Holy pink flamingo!!!!!!! I'm not sure how she does it, but each Nashville Devils book is better than the one before!!!!!! And FINALLY we get Lucy's story! Woohoo!!!!!!!!

Rhett is just a Hot Tamale!!!!! The right amount of surly and possessive with a heat index to rival a sidewalk on a hot summer day. Yum.

I absolutely ADORE Lucy!!!!! She's the right amount of Lady Boss in a male dominant atmosphere who isn't afraid to flaunt her love for pink. Melissa did a wonderful job with this character. You don't have to dress like a man to garner respect. Lucy shows that you don't have to forfeit who you are in order to succeed in life and the workplace.

This book had all the heat, sass, snark, and bromance that her other books had in spades. You definitely don't want to miss the latest installment in the Nashville Devils series!

I love a good hockey romance. I have been on a hockey romance kick recently actually and I found this one on TikTok and OF COURSE screen shotted lol . For me it just fell flat in the romance build up, like the beginnings of them fall in love and warming up to one another just wasnt really there for me, i ALMOST actually DNF'd this book in the beginning cause i just wasnt getting invested but i pushed through and im definitely glad that i did , I did very much enjoy the end to their story . I did like the banter and the "damaged" broody hockey player, plus with a strong heroine who dont need no man but CHOOSES to want him .

Overall it was an okay read. I just didn’t love it.

My first of the Nashville Devils books and I loved it! Rhett and Lucy are perfectly matched with wit and sarcasm, they are also both devilishly smart and good at getting what they want. But where Lucy is confident Rhett is filled with self doubt.
I love a book with a heroine who takes charge and saves her hero in some aspect during the story and Lucy definitely does that! I will definitely be catching up on the series and can't wait for the next Devil to arrive.
