Stranded. Hope is fading. The threat of never returning home grows.
Surrounded by the terrors of a forgotten world, Eden, Rooke and their crew are whisked into the custody of the mysterious woodsmen, where they soon discover their timely interception has a price of its own.
As they adjust to life among these people, the events from the past few weeks start to consume Rooke with guilt, causing him to unexpectedly clash with Eden. When the mention of another prophecy reaches Eden’s ears, and with rising tensions driving a wedge between her and Rooke, she begins to question her ability to uphold her end of a hastily made bargain.
Will Eden succeed in the task set before her? Will she discover what her true destiny is? And when the demands of her former hosts continue to threaten Eden’s chances of returning home, will Rooke fight for her, or will he allow his own secrets to tear their relationship apart?
Huge lover of fantasy, sci-fi and all things romance.
I’ve been writing novels since I was sixteen, however, it’s taken me a long time (25 years in fact) to find the courage to publish. But life is too short!
I began my author life writing historical romances, but over the years I’ve swayed towards sci-fi and fantasy, mixed with romance. I think you’ll find I’m a desperate romantic at heart. (Shhh, don’t tell my husband).
Holy Gods Alana blew this one out of the water! 😍 I received this book as an ARC and I’ve been anxiously awaiting for it to drop in my kindle since finishing the first book, When Eden Falls (which was amazing btw)
When Worlds Awaken was one of my most anticipated reads for 2024 and I am so glad I got to have an advanced copy!
This book was INCREDIBLE. From start to finish, I could not put it down… I even neglected adult responsibilities just to keep reading!
Alana had created such an amazing world with her books. The world building is on point, the characters are all well developed and easy to connect with. The plot… well the plot just blew me away to be honest! 🥹
So, When Worlds Awaken continues right where the first book left off. The book is jam packed with action, adventure and plot twists that had me screaming on the edge of my seat!
Alana has teased us for weeks with so many teaser reels/posts and I can honestly say I am overwhelmed. The book was truly beautiful to read (despite the anxiety and palpations through certain parts!!! Alana! 😂)
But seriously, this duology has become one of my favourites and it was a refreshing change from all the fantasy I have recently been losing oneself in!
A truly FANTASTIC, read worth 5/5 stars! 🥹⭐️✨
Congratulations Alana, you should be so bloody proud of yourself. I certainly am 🥰
This duology is an underrated gem and should be a must-read in the sci-fi romance genre. The angst, romance, mystery, and dystopian setting were PERFECT. So much to love about this book. My favourite part was how real all the characters were. Their complicated emotions, actions, and interactions with each other were so authentic that I was fully immersed in the story.
Between the love triangle drama, political intrigue, and figuring out who their actual enemies were, all while simultaneously surviving on a foreign planet, the story was highly engaging from the very start.
This is by far my favourite read of the year. I can't wait for the author's next work :)
Update: Lets talk about book 2, because damn I need to talk about it!!
I'll be honest with you, 20% in I was sooooo pissed at Rooke, I wanted to jump into the book and slap his sorry ass. Also, Eden could have really put him in his place there, but as men tend to sometimes be, they have a really hard time listening. So that portrayal was definitely spot on!
BUT THEN, Alana Faye Wilson saved the whole book! Well more like Rooke grew a pair and Eden didn't put up with all of his shit anymore. The book got absolutely amazingly interesting and the pace picked up sooo quickly. It was like an action movie in my head! So many things were happening at once and I felt like I flew through the pages and I just didn't want the book to end!! Be prepared to cry, laugh and start giggling and kicking your feet in the air...
All I'm saying to that is: Shower scene...
I absolutely loved this book. It is the perfect ending to the series (although I would love an extended epilogue or even a novella??) and it feels like a warm blanket with some spice and lots of sci-fi with great fantasy parts.
This book is for anyone who loves a good fantasy but doesn't mind a bit of science fiction. Oh and don't forget the romance!!
Old: Oooh I bet this is going to be absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!!! Like what’s the prophecy (or prophecies) with Edens eyes? Dybgo or Rooke? Will they ever make it home? So many questions, sooo little answers so far! I NEED TO KNOW!🩷
This sci-fi fantasy duology took me on a pretty exciting ride. I love the characters & the world that Alana created. I think this book took me longer than usual to read because I didn't want the story to end.
I was trying to figure out where the romance was in the first book, but I was not disappointed in this one. I normally don't like love triangles, but this one was alright. I understood that Eden & Rooke had a few wrinkles that needed ironing out before they could figure out how to be together. Rooke frustrated me a lot in this book, but once the reasoning behind his decisions were revealed, he made a lot more sense to me.
I love Truro's character & a part of me wanted Eden to end up with him. I was saddened that he didn't get the happily ever after he deserved, even if it wasn't with Eden. Also, I really need to know how to pronounce his name. In my head it sounded like "Churro" but I don't think that's right haha.
Overall, I liked this duology & I will recommend it to anyone looking for an easy, sci-fi fantasy read.

I was eagerly awaiting When Worlds Awaken after reading When Eden Falls, and it did not disappoint! I love this type of dystopian sci-fi and the love triangle romance was the icing on the cake.
In book 2 we find out what happens with Eden, Rooke and the rest of the crew, as they deal with being stranded on earth which has been overtaken by killer creatures. Enter Truro, a delectable bronzed warrior with a heart of gold, who has his eye on Eden and the tension skyrockets.
This action packed sequel every bit as good as the first novel, but with more focus on the relationship and romance aspect which I enjoyed. It's a fast-paced read with plenty of angst, as well as tender moments and excellent world building, I felt like I was watching a movie. Highly recommend both books if you like soft sci-fi, action adventure, friends to lovers and intense slow burn romance!
a random kindle sale purchase but potentially one of my favourite books of the year, if you're a Divergent/The Hunger Games girlie who misses a good dystopia book I highly recommend
This is the second instalment of When Eden Falls - and it continues from the first book right where we left Eden and her happy bunch of intergalactic refugees. I liked the first book and had high hope for Eden in the second - however she has never really lifted her character and personality to match a Nux Warrior, more a timid Yawn thatn an Awakening! - if anything her painful-to-read, totally-shippable and boring internal dialogue, paining after a cruel and detached man reached higher picks and just took over the narration of events. Rooke - her long term romantic interest - got crueller trying to keep her down and in control, completely undermining any character development she gained in this book, all because he is no longer the centre of her undivided attention and she is no longer only focused in managing his temper and communicating with the crew. Basically, in this book she functions as a punching pad between him and everyone else, including helping him defer his duties like when she has to communicate a death to someone herself. This dependent and one-sided relationship is painful to read and, frankly, very unempowering for the FMC; if we are still in this situation way into the future, where women just follow orders and diminish themselves and their abilities to appease and stroke a man fragile ego, we have no hope, sisters! I thought Eden (and the reader) around 50% mark were finally out of the "will he, won't he - why is he so cruel to me?" dilemma when she started seeing Truro - I thought finally she is going to stand up to this self-centred, insecure man with no spine, but that is not the case at all; to draw back any progress, she only needed a message on a piece of paper (after 3 weeks!) to get back under Rooke's thumb and doubt herself again. Even when we discover Rooke kept vital info from her, and Eden is his second and shared them with Oz - a guard, instead of asserting her authority and call him out, she just starts feeling "guilty"???? I have to be honest, this was my last straw so I did not finish this book. On the other front, the book was well written so I could not give it one star.

I absolutely loved When Eden Falls (the first book of this duology) and when I saw the ARC was available for “When Worlds Awaken,” I had to read it & I am very happy I did! This was the first book I read this year! Cheers to 2024 🥂
When Worlds Awaken had me in a grip! I had to know what would happen next! So much happened between relationships, battles, and everything in between! I love the description and distinguishes between the different cultures, including those of the monsters, which was quite fascinating. The world was intriguing and I loved the prophecy the cultures shared about Eden.
As for Eden, she would make me soooo mad with her internal thoughts and back-and-forth emotions when it came to Rooke &&& Rooke made me even madder 😂
My emotions were everywhere 😅
Even though their relationship improved, I was not in friendly matters when it came to their rekindling - I was still pissed off at Rooke!! I be grudging 😂 and to be honest, that’s all because Truro stole my heart! He was 🫶🫶🫶 and oh man 😭💔
I absolutely loved this novel. The first book I loved and really connected with Eden. And when the opportunity arose the ARC book 2, I jumped at it. And it didn't disappoint, in fact I loved this even more. Eden was a fantastic character that I felt I could relate to. As for the male characters and love interests, they were fabulous, and I felt torn between Truro and Rooke. I loved Truro, who gave me Robin Hood vibes. Yet I was just as torn as Eden with Rooke, and I loved the tension between them. This second book was full of action, romance, and adventure. If you enjoyed book 1, then you will LOVE this one.

Wow. Wow. Wow. How do I begin to review this one without spoilers?
Let me start by saying I was team Rooke all the way through the prequel, but this one really played me emotionally and tested my loyalties. I wiped tears from my eyes every couple of chapters, and my pulse was elevated for the entire Part III to the end. This was a love triangle done expertly. The tension and drama infused in the dialogue was gutting. I'm still emotional thinking about it all.
When Worlds Awaken is just as well written as the prequel, and the characters feel the same-- except for Rooke, who goes through a bit of a... mental breakdown? Crisis? Angry jealous episode? until he figures himself out. Sometimes I wanted to see him grovel, and other times I felt Eden was more at fault and should've groveled. Eden is blind to the amount of pressure he is under, even when she recognizes that he's under intense pressure and grief, and while I wanted to fault her for some of her decisions... I can't truly say I'd have done any differently (or been brave enough to confront and talk it out) in similar circumstances. As far as miscommunication paired with the love triangle, I would say it was more refusal-inability to communicate. I truly wish Eden could have been braver with Rooke about her feelings from the start, but I know all too well to fear of ruining a friendship if it fails to bloom into love. The push and pull between her and Rooke drives her right into the arms of yet another immaculately written man. And you can't help but love him. You just can't. He's too pure. He deserved so much better. *tears*
But romantic elements aside, the twists and revelations surrounding the political intrigue of this book are great. The betrayal and reconciliation is riveting. It was an absolute page turner for me. I couldn't put this book down from the 35% mark to the end.
As far as content goes, this story may not be suited for religious readers offended by hybrid-human creatures doing human breeding experiments, premarital relations, and coarse language. Wilson's characters feel real, make relatable choices, suffer real world consequences and regrets. They also forgive and respect each other, and make up for moments of intense disrespect. Overall, this story offers depth in its relational forgiveness, reconciliation, and sacrificial love.
While the content of this book was more mature than that of the prequel, I enjoyed this book more for its setting, and its much more difficult love triangle. (Sorry Dybgo, I was never convinced you were better than Rooke.) When Eden Falls was set primarily within the walls of the Aquarian fortress, while When Worlds Awaken provided Eden the freedom to roam new territory and be the warrior she was meant to be.
I only wish she and Rooke could've found peace and had a pleasant horseback ride together instead of bickering that entire time...
TLDR: prepare yourself for a book hangover, and the best love triangle you'll ever meet.
I want to start by thanking Alana Faye Wilson for giving me the opportunity to read When Worlds Awaken as an ARC in return for an honest review.
When Worlds Awaken, is 100% a five star read for me. It is the second book in the When Eden Falls duology. This duology is honestly life and if you’re looking for a love story in the midst of a mysterious, post apocalyptic world this book is for you.
Friends to lovers Slow burn romance Dystopian fantasy Soft sci-fi Myths and prophecies Love triangle Action Found family I’d d!e for you vibes
In When Worlds Awaken, we continue to follow the narrative of Eden and her crew right where we left off in book one. This book is packed with action, heart ache, adventure and so many plot twists. I struggled to put this book down as around every corner was a plot twist and when I tell you that you’re not ready for what comes next you’re not ready. Alana had me sitting on the edge of my seat, screaming and crying throughout the entire book.
If I could give you one quote to make you want to read this duology it would be:
“We are creatures of the same universe. Just because we were born on different planets does not mean we do not belong together”........ “I was meant to find you”
Alana has done an exceptional job with the world building and character development in this book. This has become one of my favorite duologies and I am so sad that my journey with Eden is over. Thank you Alana for such an extraordinary and uniquely special duology. I will never stop recommending and I cannot wait to get my friends addicted to Eden’s story xx
We mostly leave the Akquarians from Book 1 “When Eden Falls” behind, and Eden and co fall into the care of the Redwoods, remnants of earth’s human population constantly fighting for survival against the Igknamai.
While learning to live and fight as a Redwood, as well as find a way to return to their ship in orbit and go home, Eden struggles with her feelings for her commander Rooke going unrequited, all the while being drawn to the charismatic Redwood Captain Truro.
I spent most of the book wanting to slap Rooke(I know the alpha type hole type is a popular trope, but it’s not one of my favourites), sort of forgave him by the end, but only this is a book and not real life haha.
I was also absolutely fascinated by the origin of the Igknamai, and also the hybrids, I wanted to know more! (Was also gratified to see I’d guessed correctly about Dygbo’s background). I really enjoyed that the world building didn’t really hold hands, and was left with questions which mean I probably need to reread both books again and put everything in place.
Perfectly paced, leading up to a satisfying(although bittersweet) conclusion!
I had a few nitpicks when I read the first book When Eden falls but these were completely absent from book 2, and When Worlds Awaken feels a lot more assured and polished than book 1, and I highly recommend this book and series if you like science fiction dystopia, adventure and romance all in one!
So much happens in this book, and so much is revealed. The author balances Eden’s personal life and struggles with a complex political setting and an epic struggle against monsters amid a backdrop of environmental disaster. With all of the various elements, Wilson somehow manages to capture how such a word would look and feel and *be*. It’s amazing.
This doesn’t mean that everything the characters say and do is something the reader approves of. But the immersive feel of Wilson’s writing is such that one must accept that this is the characters’ viewpoint — that they have life experiences I the reader don’t. I don’t approve of all of their choices, but I have to see their humanity, warts, scars, and all.
Finally, I was excited to see how well the author tied all of the plot threads together. Everything makes sense at the end. It’s not the resolution I wanted, but, again, it makes sense. I do think that the prophecies could have been more overtly stated, but even the understated nature of them suits this book in a way I can’t really find fault with.
So, this book deserves all the stars, and I dearly hope Wilson will write another!
When worlds awaken- Alana Faye Wilson 5⭐️ The emotional rollercoaster this book took me on gave me whiplash. After the first book I had no idea what Alana was planing for Eden and her friends, all I knew was she and Rooke was meant to be in my mind, well queue a new handsome warrior and we got some drama! Oh and let’s not forget the Hybrids stealing women to breed and the Igknamai trying to eat everyone. The world building in this book was great, and the plot kept my interest throughout. I am sad to see the story end, but I have no doubt Alana will come up with something new and as exciting as this! Here is what you can expect, 🌍 Dystopian Sci-Fi 🌍 Love triangle 🌍 Warrior FMC 🌍 Second book in duology 🌍 Space If you like the above, I highly recommend you get this book and When Eden falls (book 1) Thank you Alana Faye Wilson for this ARC, all opinions and thoughts are my own💜
Picking up where When Eden Falls left off, Eden and the Crew are now faced with a whole host of new obstacles whilst also dealing with the emotional strain of the events since landing on the forgotten planet. As more information about the planet, the politics and struggles of the inhabitants is revealed The Crew is left conflicted on who to believe and who to trust. New alliances & friendships are formed whilst some, new and old, are torn apart. . I fell in love with all of the characters, even those I loved to hate. The mental scenery was beautiful and I was so swept up and into this story. I absolutely loved the character growth and the plot twists! When Worlds Awaken had me obsessed. I didn't want to put it down! I needed to know where the story was going. . Filled with action & adventure, intrigue & suspicion, politics & deception, this story kept me guessing all the way! . I highly recommend this series, especially for those who love Sci-Fi that is not hard to read. The storyline is ruthless at times, but it's one of the reasons it's so good. If you love Battlestar Galactica you're going to love this series.
I received this as an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This sci-fi romance duology has everything - Mythical earth legends and steamy romance, alien races and fancy balls, rakish men and tough women.
There are lots of social rules that are similar to the regency era (in the first book as well). At the same time, there are female fighters, wicked smart female doctors and women in positions of power over men.
It’s definitely heavier on the romance side than the sci-fi I normally read, but the plot was as engaging and entertaining as the first book.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed Bridgerton, but also likes a good soft sci-fi.
Thank Alana for such a wonderful first read of 2024!
This is a really well constructed and engaging conclusion to the duology. We come to truly understand the characters, their individual motivations and the complexities of their relationships, as we follow them through emotional drama and page turning action.
As with the first part, the world-building is well crafted and executed to bring us right into the worlds of the different factions.
Alana Faye Wilson has managed to successfully merge romance, sci-fi and fantasy. This is a “something for all” series and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This book exceeded expectations! Alana you’re amazing. I got everything I needed from this book. I laughed, I cried, I was shocked and disappointed. Very emotion Eden felt and experienced, I was right there with her. Her relationships with Rooke and Truro were perfect and I was conflicted with how I felt about each of them but ultimately I was so relieved by the end.
Loved it! Picking up right where When Eden Falls ends, this action packed dystopian, adventure & romance story ticked all my boxes. I went through all the emotions along with the main character, Eden. Highly recommend
The only other book I’ve read like this is Blake crouches - pines. (And that’s very loosely similar) but if you enjoyed that, this is the same vibes the same fact paced plot, PLUS a whole lot more character development. There’s nothing I love more than a host of side characters that all hold their own and you get attached to. It was just great. 💥
This series has been absolutely fantastic! I devoured both books and am so sad the journey has ended. This book had me excited, happy, amazed, pissed, hurt, and saddened! I didn't want it to end. There was only one thing I didn't care for, and it was towards the end.I can't wait to read this authors other books.
I received an ARC copy of this book but I am giving my honest review.
I would say that this is not a standalone book as this second book started straight after the first so we don't miss any of the drama.
We have the same group of travelers who are now in a different setting with a whole new group of people, do they trust this new race or should be just as wary in case they also have ulterior motives like the last people that were 'helping' them?
We have lots of new characters, new settings and new rules to learn.
There is still the will they won't they relationship of the two leads and there might be a kink in their lives to up set the status quo.
Nothing is ever simple for the team of space travelers and I know that you will love all the new adventures that they now will have.
There are arguments, kidnaps, deaths and love and as a reader you can't help but get involved and upset at what follows.
Alana has again weaved a lovely story and her character building is fantastic as we can easily imagine the world in our heads.
You wont be disappointed if you like romance, mild sci-fi and character driven stories.
I highly recommend this book as it is another great yarn.
Five star read for me! When Worlds Awaken is the beautiful conclusion to this sci-fi fantasy romance duology which I absolutely DEVOURED! Set on a forgotten Earth I loved the way the story is set far in the future but the world feels ancient and primal and still so familiar for the reader (All I can say is I want to live in the trees too). I’m a sucker for the emotional journey of characters and I completely connected with Eden, the FMC and her struggles of self doubt and fear. Trapped on a forgotten planet, tension with her crew, a prophecy to fulfill and a best friend love interest with TONS of tension? YES PLEASE! Beautifully descriptive, readers will have no problem envisioning themselves into the book right along side the characters. My only con is that I (greedily) did not want the story to end, but this is a completed series and one that I will consistently recommend to any reader…
Enjoy sci-fi?… read this series Enjoy action and adventure? … read this series Enjoy Love interests sub plot? …. Read this series Enjoy emotional ties to characters? … read this series
There’s something for everyone and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy Reading!
When Worlds Awaken is the second book in the When Eden Falls duology. It's part dystopian, sci-fi, romance, and thriller. Eden is dealing with her messy love triangle while threats come from multiple directions. She's also making choices without all the information, since everyone in the book seems to be keeping secrets. Because we only have Eden's POV, we miss out on a lot of intel, as no one is honest with her. The reader learns the truth as Eden does, unless you are good at piecing together clues here and there. The book is intense, and I'd advise checking the trigger warnings again. Some of the more disturbing aspects of the book are not faced head-on because the characters seem to believe there is nothing they can do about them. Different cultures and a lack of resources are to blame for their inaction. That in itself is a little difficult to accept, so check those trigger warnings before reading to ensure you enjoy the book. This one is also 5 stars because it hooked me from the beginning and kept me quickly turning the pages to see what would happen!
Look. This was a very interesting duology, plot-wise. For the most part. The main characters were INSUFFERABLE. Rooke was an awful human being being framed as a poor, misunderstood, protective guy. Insufferable, AND dumb as hell. Eden, on the other hand, was happy being someone else’s punching bag and spent most of the book (books, actually) trying to justify her abuser. I am not someone who is easily triggered by anything, but this totally ruining my reading experience. It had been a while that I hadn’t felt pissed off by a book!
The story was otherwise OK, though I would have enjoyed a little bit more with a little less internal dialogue (the way it was written, it pulled me away from the story) and more showing.
That being said, my issue is more about the story rather than the actual writing, so the fact that this was not my cup of tea doesn’t mean that it couldn’t be yours.
I really loved book 1 and when Alana announced that book 2 is going to come out, I was right there waiting for my arc.😁 Book 2 is definitely all about the relationship between two main characters, and Alana made me like Rooke even more. He turned out to be a very real character, I could easily relate to his struggles. One thing that other reviewers did not mention is a carefully crafted miscommunication trope that was executed brilliantly here. I can't wait to read more from the author😊
This book was well written and a great wrap up to the first book, When Eden Falls.
I'll say this though. The author knows how to write a slow burn, sweet romance full of angst that keeps her readers on their toes.
The last 15% of the book really picked up with loads of action and heartbreak. I would have preferred to have a better glimpse of the horrors of the "evil side" or even some insight into what was happening with Llexzus and his own internal struggles.
All in all, an excellent duology which I'd highly recommend.
Loved it! Couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed the first book and wondered where the story would take me in the 2nd and whether it would be more of the same. Well it did not disappoint. The characters were written so well, I felt I knew them all, some captivated me, others intrigued. Very believable and vivid. There were twists, new adventures, power battles and of course the thrill of romance in abundance. Really well written, I would definitely recommend.
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book is filled with Prophecies, a Love triangle, some steamy romance and a quest to change and save Earth.
When Worlds Awaken the sequel to When Eden Falls brings in new characters, new love interests, carefully kept secrets and new warrior skills for Eden. Rooke and Eden continue to have an unusual relationship. Eden is angry, upset and confused as she searches for love, comfort and her place.
No "spoilers" - but miscommunication, secrets and the inability to speak her mind made me want to sit down with Eden and have a "talk" about making good choices that lead to the best decisions.
I found the plot engaging and once I started I had a hard time stopping. I wanted to finish and find out the answers to all my questions.
Thank you Alana for the chance to read your sequel!
