Sherlock Holmes - A Sure and Fearful Death: And Other Stories

Rate this book
A wave of rabies cases terrorises the people of London.

Doctor Watson accompanies his colleague Doctor Glover to examine Marie, a young French-Canadian girl in terrible distress. When she dies a few days later, Watson and Holmes are caught in a web of deceit, superstition, and murder among the Métis fur trappers and merchants of the Red River Valley.

In the second of four stories told by Watson in the traditional style with a touch of humour, a flamboyantly dressed man is murdered in a church courtyard. A robbery gone wrong, as the police say, or is there a darker motive to his death?

Banker Mr Merriweather engages Holmes to examine a gentleman’s wallet he found in his wife’s sewing basket containing seven counterfeit gold coins.

A prominent Biblical scholar and archaeologist is found dead in his hotel room. What is the secret of the red bones?

Investigate these Sherlock Holmes stories told by Doctor Watson in the traditional style – come, there’s not a moment to lose!
