Point of No Return: An Enemies to Lovers Romance

Rate this book
Charlotte Orlova

His name is the most powerful name in all of Westos… and now it’s going to be mine.

My mother made it clear the day she married me off that I was never supposed to fall for him. Seduce him, use him, convince him to trust me maybe. But falling for the enemy is off limits because there’s only one way this by killing him.

There’s just one problem… My husband is nothing like I expected. And he’s not the monster my mother made him out to be. He’s cunning, calculated, and reserved, but beneath that cold exterior, there’s something else… Something that makes me question everything I’ve ever known about our families.

Skar Benenati

My name means power, but… power doesn’t come without sacrifice.

Now that my father is dying, the future of the Benenati empire rests on marrying the enemy. Marry her, guarantee her cooperation, but don’t let her get close. If only things were that simple.

(Point of No Return is a steamy, enemies to lovers, billionaire romance. It is the first STANDALONE in a series of two INTERCONNECTED books. J. Claire is a writer and lover of all things romance and fantasy. When she's not writing or whipping up lattes at her full-time job, you can usually find her cuddled up on the couch with her dog, reading a good book. She was born and raised in Texas where she currently lives with her partner, Justin.

Her debut duet, featuring Point of No Return and Breaking Point, is her first venture into the world of Contemporary Fantasy Romance. While her future in writing is sure to hold many things, books with strong and misunderstood heroines and the morally gray men who love them are sure to star.

this relationship near the end reminded me so much of warnette.... and i am a simple woman

this book left me thirsty for more world-building. i'm not a big fan of urban fantasy but this had that vibe of being set in a different world but still having modern technology and it was so close to working for me but by the end i still didn't quite understand the political and family context of the enemies to lovers? so that tension was lost on me at some points. but this writing style ended up being surprisingly addicting and not at all cheesy or overly simplistic. the romance was slow burn but with definite payoff at the end. i wish more of the action and blood and betrayal at the end could have been sprinkled throughout because the last 100 pages was so tense and engrossing whereas the middle of the book felt a little aimless. but now i know the author is capable of it so i'm excited to get to book two later this year!

J. Claire’s debut novel contained so many amazing moments that made me squeal with excitement, smile, gasp, and sigh. The characters in this book were amazing and the story is so incredible. The ending of the story took me entirely by surprise. It was spicy but not over the top. Weeks after reading it I still find myself stuck on some of the plot lines and moments. This book is completely worth picking up and reading! I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes

“I have only kissed her twice and it’s like every detail is branded into me.”

I was hooked on the story line from the start! Coming from someone who had been in a book hangover after reading the cliffhanger of Iron Flame, THIS WAS WHAT I NEEDED!

A true enemies to lovers start to finish, which I feel many authors struggle to achieve, while still maintaining a delicious amount of sexual tension. The spice was well written (a bit of a slow burn just FYI) and overall the character development was done well.

Of all the books I've read... I'm glad I started 2024 with this. Debut authors are always hidden gems and I'm honored to have caught J. Claire just weeks after releasing her first novel.

Highly recommend!

Finished the book in 3 days. It was hard to put down!

It made me laugh, and cry. It broke my heart and put it back together again all with a witty sense of humor and a spark that only J. Claire can write!

LOVED IT and always recommend it!
